Give us this day our daily bread. Matthew 6:11.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלוהים) says:
The best preparation for eternity is doing My Will, which is keeping My Word, which is walking in truth, which is walking in love, and the result is a beautiful life now and forever. My Will is My favor on your life, for I know the plans I have for you, plans for your shalom (wholeness, peace, prosperity, health, fruitfulness—the whole pie of life with nothing missing, nothing broken, and no one alone) and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.
How do you know the way to go? You call on Me and come and pray to Me. I listen to you. When you seek Me with all your heart you will find Me right there with you to lead and guide you.
“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans for welfare (shalom) and not for calamity (evil) to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and I will restore your fortunes and will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,” declares the LORD, “and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.” Jeremiah 29:11-14.
And the way you seek Me is in My Word and in prayer. Seek Me early. Bind My Words continually on your heart; tie them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart by meditating upon them and speaking them, by singing them and delighting in them. Then when you walk about, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk to you. When you have the Word in your heart, you learn My voice, for My voice is behind and in each Word written under the inspiration of the Spirit. My Word is a lamp and the teaching of My Word is light. Proverbs 6:21-23.
To find Me you must go within your heart to connect, for it is there I have put eternity. And it is there in your heart, that is, your spirit, that I speak to you.
“For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach. It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’ Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’ But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.” Deuteronomy 30:11-13.
“Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down), or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).” But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. Romans 10:7-10.
Prayer is our connection, it forges the path upon which you walk with Me into eternity. So let us continue to consider the wonderful connection of prayer, for My Will for you in Christ Jesus is that you rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and give constant thanks.
Why is that My Will for you? Because it makes you an overcomer, more than a conqueror, and always walking with Me in triumph spreading the sweet fragrance of love as manifested in Christ Jesus, My Son, who gave His life upon the earth for you. Now you can live your life through Him and that will cause you to reign in life.
For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17.
He is your teacher, so let us continue with the way He taught you to pattern your prayer.
Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’ For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.” Matthew 6:5-15.
We have already looked at the opening greeting, we are family in Jesus and I am your heavenly Father, and how you come to the Holy of Holies in Heaven with your High Priest, savior, brother, and joint heir, Jesus, and you lift up My holy Name knowing that all the magnificent promises in My Covenant Names are yours in Christ Jesus. You then give primary importance to establishing My Kingdom on earth in your life by your words that agree with Mine. And you pray for My Will to be done, for My Will is the shield of My favor around your life. There is no pain, sickness, evil, lack, sorrow, storms, accidents, or disasters My Kingdom, so pray that My Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven, for all are perfect there. Everyone in Heaven wants to be there with Me. They all passed the test on earth so that I saw My love in their hearts and could see and love in them what I see and love in Christ. Prayer, true prayer, is an exercise in love, for it is in prayer that our hearts are joined as one.
Many people call out to Me if they are in trouble but few keep up a constant conversation of mutual honor and love. And that is worship in spirit and truth, and that is what I am seeking in you. Many never truly converse with Me because they do not think they can so it is hard to get them to pay attention to Me when I want to tell them something. But if only people would listen to Me the world would be entirely different, it would not be a place of darkness and sorrow but of joy unspeakable filled with glory. There would be no lack, only abundance, as it was originally in Eden. Sin is a robber of all that would benefit you.
Your poverty will come as a robber and your want like an armed man. Proverbs 24:34.
But prayer, the prayer of faith in My presence, is the answer to bring you the supply you need. For it has pleased Me to give you the Kingdom and if you are seeking the Kingdom first and My way of righteousness, everything is added to you that you need for life and godliness, with an abundance for every good work.
I taught this to the Israelites I redeemed from slavery when I was journeying with them to the Promised Land through the wilderness. There was nothing in that desert that they could do by their own efforts to produce crops, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater. So what did I do to teach them that you do not live on bread alone but on every Word that proceeds out of My mouth? I rained down bread from Heaven each morning when the dew fell while they were still sleeping. I give to My beloved in their sleep. Not on human might and power but by My Spirit.
Your abundance comes from My Word through prayer. Prayer releases the power in My Word as you speak it into your life and activate it on earth to plant Heaven and establish it on the earth. I am not talking about rote memorization or a certain formula, but praying My Word in faith that I will perform what I have promised. It is coming with confidence to My throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace just when you need it. I supply for you by My Word. I made everything by My Word, sustain everything by My Word, save you by My Word, and eternal life is in My Word made flesh dwelling among you. My Word is real food and real drink for your spirit and soul and that is what will manifest in your body and in the world around you where you have taken dominion over the evil one. I told Joshua to keep My Word, meditate on it night and day, speak only in keeping with My Word, and not to turn away from following it to the right or to the left, and then he would make his life prosperous and successful, and everywhere his foot tread I would give to him and no man could stop him or take him down. And Joshua did what I said and lived by faith in My Word and it came to pass just as I had told him. He later declared that not one of My good promises had failed, that he had them all. He became more than a conqueror for he conquered all the conquerors in the Promised Land by faith. Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. And the place you exercise faith is in prayer and declaration from your impartation and revelation received in prayer.
And that leads us to the next verse in the prayer Jesus taught which based on its greeting is called “Our Father.”
Give us this day our daily bread. Matthew 6:11.
I rained down bread from Heaven for the Israelites to sustain them in the desert but Jesus is the true bread come down from Heaven.
Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven. 33 For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.” John 6:32-33.
And what did the people listening to Jesus answer?
Then they said to Him, “Lord, always give us this bread.” John 6:34.
And Jesus told them what that bread was: Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.” John 6:35.
But they still did not understand for it was an awesome thing I was preparing to do that was a miracle far above and beyond the Manna falling for forty years in the desert keeping them in perfect physical health. The Manna was a substance not of earth but of Heaven, and so is the communion meal of My Son that puts you in Covenant with Him, and in Him, with Me forever.
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50 This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.” John 6:47-51.
But this was spiritual teaching that the flesh cannot grasp.
Then the Jews began to argue with one another, saying, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?” So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.” John 6:52-58.
And here is preparation for eternity now and you can partake as often as you do so in memory of Him. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. John 6:54.
And so I teach you to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.” I supply for all your needs according to My riches in Christ Jesus in glory. I will give you your spiritual food and your material food. You need them both so long as you are walking in this life. I know what you need before you ask Me, but you have to release faith to receive. Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you. I am a good Father and I own everything and it is My delight, My pleasure, and My purpose to give you everything. And I give it to you all wrapped up in Christ Jesus for in Him are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
I love you. And that is forever. Pray without ceasing, I am there to listen and to answer without ceasing.
