But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. Psalm 100:4.
They have returned to the sins of their ancestors, who refused to listen to my words. They have followed other gods to serve them. Both Israel and Judah have broken the covenant I made with their ancestors. Jeremiah 11:10.
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Romans 10:17.
Today the LORD God says:
Let Me order your day aright that you may gain wisdom of heart.
Focus on the one thing required and everything else will follow.
You may be asking what the one thing required is. I tell you in My Word.
Do you remember Martha and Mary, the sisters of Lazarus? My Son actually told Martha what the one thing required is to order your life correctly. Let Me refresh your memory.
As Jesus and His disciples were traveling along, He entered Bethany and Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister called Mary, who seated herself at My Son’s feet, listening to His word. But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me!” But My Son answered, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:38-42.
What had Mary chosen? She was seated at My Son’s feet listening to His Word.
What had Martha chosen? She was distracted from My Word by all her preparations. They were her own idea and nothing My Son had required or asked her to do. She was worried and bothered about many things. She had not focused on the one thing that would have given her direction for what was important for her to do and what was not. She had lost a true sense of direction for her life and did not organize her time in a fruitful way. She was not focused on the one thing that would guide her through her day: My Word.
Are you pulled in many directions each day—involved in a lot of busy preparations and things that you have decided you must do that cause you anxiety and keep you from reading Scripture and spending quiet time with Me?
There are many people that say they have no time to read the Bible or to pray. There are many people who say they have no time available to set aside to worship Me. They are distracted, worried, and busy about so many things that their lives seem all tangled up and very complicated. They feel pressured and fatigued.
Are you one of these busy people?
Isn’t it time you entered into My rest and worked from there? Isn’t it time you waited on Me and soared with the wings of an eagle? Isn’t it time you waited on Me and could run without being weary and walk without being faint? Isn’t it time you listened to Me, received your vision, and ran with it? Isn’t it time you cast your care on Me and let Me refresh you? Isn’t it time you listened and learned from My Word for My burden is easy and My yoke is light?
My sheep hear My Voice and they follow Me. That is the life to live, free and open as you soar with eagle’s wings. But to follow Me you must hear My Voice. I did not say you have to see Me to follow Me, I said you have to hear My Voice. By My Word you are guided and directed along right paths that lead you to your destiny. When you are mindful of My Word in all your ways, then I can direct your steps.
I am the Wonderful Counselor. Let Me show you the best strategies and give you wisdom so you may order your day aright and not be running around in distracting circles. I can organize your life if you will spend time at My feet listening to My Word each day as Martha’s sister Mary did.
And My Son’s mother, Mary, also gave you this advice. She told you the one thing required: “Do whatever He tells you.” John 2:5. That simplifies your life. It is like having an efficiency expert as your private consultant. My Word and My Spirit in you can teach you everything, guide you to all truth, and show you the things to come.
And if you remain in My Word and My Word remains in you, then you will abide in My Son like a branch in the vine and your life will be fruitful. And this will happen as easily as when a branch bears fruit on the vine.
I have told you the one thing required is to listen to My Words. To do so you must be aware of Me and in My presence. You no longer can reach out and see and touch Me with your physical senses as Mary could but you can read My Word in the Bible and hear My voice in your heart by the Holy Spirit. But to do so you must discern Me—you must be walking in faith and not by sight, which I call being in the spirit rather than in the flesh.
When you come to listen to My Word you need to get rid of all the distractions that are pulling you to not enter into the Holy of Holies—right to My throne—to hear My Voice. You need to get yourself off total self-focus to focus attention on Me and hear Me. If today you hear My Voice harden not your hearts.
Let Me show you how to do this. I tell you in Psalm 95 and Psalm 100. To hear Me you must have entered into worship. But there is a way to enter there. You enter My gates with thanksgiving, My courts with praise, and the Holy of Holies with worship.
Thanksgiving for My goodness and praise for My greatness are done by you purposely by your voice. Thanksgiving and praise set you free from self—pull you out of yourself—and focus your eyes on Me. Self is the enemy to entering true worship, it will keep you in the distractions of the outer courts and will not get you to My throne.
In thanksgiving and praise I hear your voice. In true worship you hear My Voice. And you cannot follow Me until you hear My voice. John 10:27. And you cannot open your heart to Me and dine with Me until you hear My Voice. Revelation 3:20.
Since you only hear My Voice when you have entered into worship only worshippers can follow Me. I seek those who worship Me in spirit and in truth for those are the ones who hear My Voice and open their hearts to Me.
You enter worship by thanksgiving and praise but many people stop after the thanksgiving and praise. They are not comfortable unless it is their voice doing the talking in prayer. You must go further to enter worship or you cannot hear My Voice. I carry you forward as you focus on Me. As you thank Me for My goodness in your life you go deeper into My presence as you are pulled out of yourself into Me. And then as you praise by lifting your voice into song you find yourself pulled out of your distractions into the great vastness of My glory and suddenly you realize how attached you are to Me and that your life flows from Me. Suddenly you begin to feel My presence and you begin to worship Me in a revelation of My holiness. My holiness is the summation of the totality of My attributes—that I am love, that I am light, and that I am good.
And in worship you go past the gates and outer courts and you enter the very Holy of Holies. Under the Old Covenant only the High Priest could enter the Holy and Holies and only once a year. But you remember the veil that closed off the Holy of Holies ripped in two from top to bottom when My Son died on the Cross and reconciled you with Me. Now through Him and His redemption—by His Blood on the mercy seat—you can come with confidence right to My very throne in the Holy of Holies. And there you hear My Voice and receive revelation. And each revelation will make your heart cry “Holy.” In Heaven around My throne as they receive new revelation into My goodness, love and grace they cry “Holy!”
And there we have intimate conversation. I can answer your questions and give you the grace and help you need right when you need it.
And the more you hear Me, the more you can follow Me. And the more of My Word that fills you the more fruitful you will become in your daily life. Your day will be organized and you will not spend your time in unnecessary, unfruitful, and even harmful activities that will not have any lasting value for you or for others.
I want to talk with you. But if you are too tied up in your own plans, preparations, and self then you cannot hear Me. All you can listen to are your own thoughts and words. And you will surely get so busy that you will not have time for My input. And you will end up worried and anxious about many things that I really never even asked you to do and which you will wonder why you spent your time on them at some point.
I love you. Enter My gates with thanksgiving, My courts with hymns of praise, bow down in worship, I am with you all your days. Only in worship will you hear My Voice. And only those who hear My Voice can follow Me. And as you follow Me, directed you will be, along the pathway for your life! Let Me help you organize your day aright each morning when you arise.
