Receiving Jesus as Lord
God’s purpose, His dream, in creating man was to have a family of His own, like Him, in His image, to fellowship with and to bless. He created a beautiful home for His family, our lovely planet earth set in a wondrous universe, and gave us authority and dominion over it. Yes, God made us to be His own family with no one missing, no one broken and no one alone, and His ultimate purpose for each of us is complete union with Him, for whoever joins with the Lord becomes one spirit with Him. 1 Corinthians 6:17; Isaiah 54:5; John 17:21.
By disobeying God’s Word and submitting to the devil, Adam rejected God’s sovereign authority over his life and handed his dominion authority over the earth to the devil, separating all his descendants from God’s family and Kingdom and enslaving them to sin and death, which put them into the kingdom of darkness. Romans 6:6.
Once Adam cut himself off from his source, his spirit dried up and died, just like a branch cut off from its vine, and the Holy Spirit could no longer dwell in his spirit—for just as a living person cannot marry a dead one, the Holy Spirit cannot unite with a man’s dead spirit. John 15:6; 1 Corinthians 6:17. But God was determined to redeem His family back from slavery and transfer us into His Kingdom of Light. Colossians 1:13. In order for Him to fellowship with us again our dead spirits had to be born again so we could receive His Spirit! John 3:5.7. And He did this by raising us to new life and reconciling us to Himself by paying our debt for sin by the Blood of His Son, the Word made flesh, our Kinsman Redeemer, who became the first born of many brothers so He could give His life to buy back the life we had all lost. Colossians 2:1315, Leviticus 25:47-78; Galatians 4:4-7; Ephesians 1:7; Romans 8:29. Yes, God so loved the world, He gave His only Son so that all who believe in Him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16; John 1:12. It is only by repenting and taking Jesus as our Lord that our spirits are born again and we become a new creation in Christ, adopted back as children of God, redeemed and washed clean by His Precious Blood as brothers and sisters of the Lord Jesus! 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 1:13-14, 1 Peter 1:1820.
By knowing God’s purpose, we begin to know who we are and our purpose. We are part of a royal family (1 Peter 2:9) and we have authority over the earth (Genesis 1:26-28; Matthew 28:18-20). We rule and reign in this life through Christ (Romans 5:17) and will reign with Him for all eternity (Revelation 22:5). God’s goal for each one of us is that we would live a fruitful life of intimate union with Him. Genesis 1:28; John 15:8; 1 Corinthians 6:17, 19. God knew each one of us before the foundation of the world, we are His handiwork, and He prepared a life of good deeds for each of us in advance that we might walk in it. Ephesians 2:10; Ephesians 1:10. Yes, you have a grace and a place where you are meant to be and it is only there you will truly be happy—only there that you will be the “real you” that you were meant to be.
To find your grace and your place, you need to be under God’s jurisdiction (a citizen of His Kingdom) and filled with His Holy Spirit, so that He has authority to act on your behalf and so you can hear from God in your heart. In order to allow God to have authority to act in your life, you must take Him as your Lord and submit to His jurisdiction–just like you need to do if you transfer your citizenship to a new country. And it is only when you become a citizen of a country that the government of the country has the authority to give you, and protect, your rights and benefits as a citizen. The government has no jurisdiction to act in your life if you are not a citizen of that country.
So that God can be your healer, provider, protector and defender you need to be a citizen of His Kingdom by taking Him as your Lord. But He offers you even more! By His shed Blood, Jesus has paid the price of your redemption. He has bought you out of your slavery to sin and death and given you a new birth by His resurrection so that you are not only a citizen of God’s Kingdom but also a child of God and an heir to all He has. And this new life begins even now, in this world, and continues through all eternity!
If you would like to become a child of God and a new creation in Christ it is really very simple. God tells you how to do it in His Word, as recorded in Romans 10:9-10: “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”It does not matter what you have done in your past or even what you are doing now. Repent (meaning change your way of thinking and living to God’s way) and ask God to forgive you and cleanse you with the Blood of Jesus. God’s Word assures us that: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9. For: “God made Jesus who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Jesus we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21.“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3: 20. If you would like to open the door to your heart and take Jesus as your Lord, the following prayer can be used by you for that purpose:
“HEAVENLY FATHER: Thank you for taking all my sins, past, present and future and putting them on Jesus. And on Him you judged them, condemned them and punished them so that I bear them no more. And I believe in my heart that you raised Jesus from the dead free from all sin showing me that my sins are gone. And I confess with my mouth that JESUS is LORD, JESUS IS MY LORD. I open my heart and invite JESUS to come in to fill my heart with His presence and to be the LORD of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit forever and lead me in the path of good deeds you prepared for me in advance that I might enjoy them! Thank you, FATHER, for saving me in JESUS’ Name. Amen.”
Rejoice! You are now a new creation in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17. You are a citizen of God’s Kingdom, a child of God, an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ. Galatians 4:6-7. Your sins and offenses He remembers no more. Hebrews 10:17. They are gone.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.” Ephesians 1:3-8.
