The LORD will send His goodness in the daytime; and His song will be with me in the night, a prayer to the God of my life. Psalm 42:8.

But no one says, “Where is God my Maker who gives songs in the night.” Job 35:10.

I waited, waited for the LORD; and He reached down to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the mud; and He set my feet on a rock, making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Psalm 40:1-3.

Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:

What do you do in your darkest hour? Well, look in My Word and you will find the answer.

Do you recall when Paul and Silas were preaching the Word in Philippi and they got arrested, beaten with rods, and thrown into prison? In fact the magistrates of the town commanded the jailer to guard them securely and, having received such a command, the jailer threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. Acts 16:22-24. This may be worse than the hour you are in now but when your soul is in despair with your own trouble (from within or from without), then, you too, like Paul and Silas, feel fastened in an innermost prison where there seems no hope and no way out. But here is your answer! “Now about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains were unfastened.” Acts 16:25-26.

They sang songs in the night. In the valley of trouble, sing, and I will open the door of hope and give you vineyards from there. Hosea 2:15. I will give you the opportunity to work saving souls in the vineyard of the LORD of Hosts! Do you see? At Paul’s singing in his darkest hour he got his freedom, the jailer got saved (and his whole household) and the prisoners were born again into the church at Philippi that always sent Paul provisions for his needs as he traveled preaching the Gospel. Songs in the valley of trouble opened the door of hope and gave Paul a new vineyard of the LORD of hosts. Yes, when you start singing prayers of praise, the angelic host goes into action. Revelation 8:3-5.

Songs of praise in the darkness of your night. That is your answer. It will shift the atmosphere and make things turn to the favor and salvation of all. Elihu told Job the answer in Job’s darkest hour, “But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker who gives songs in the night?” Job 35:10. I give to those who ask. I will draw you out of the pit, put a new song in your mouth, and place your feet on a height! Psalm 40:1-4. I give you songs in the darkness of your night. I surround you with songs of deliverance. Psalm 32:7.

This is not easy to do, especially if you are in the habit of pitying yourself, grumbling, complaining, and begging me with tears to do something for you while you ask Me just to take you to Heaven immediately. But I have told you to deny your flesh and all those negative emotions of depression and despair and get on the narrow road of praise and thanksgiving. It will take you to Zion, My holy mountain of grace. The joyful shout can level walls and release prisoners doomed to die. You have to sing in the darkness and pay attention to My Word as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:19.

When in the darkness of your night, you sing songs of praise to Me, I take you to a higher place—out of the swamp and place your feet on a height, the Rock that is higher than you. And how do I do it? I put a new song in your mouth, a song of praise to Me, your Father, your God. I take you up above the clouds where the sun is shining, to My holy mountain and make you joyful in My house of prayer. I lift your eyes to the wonders of My Word, of My Kingdom.

David once lamented that his soul was in despair and disturbed within him. So what was his answer to this overwhelming sadness, where he tells you that his soul refused to be comforted and his days were full of trouble and his nights with anguish? “The LORD will command His lovingkindness (chesed) in the daytime, and His song will be with me in the night, a prayer to the God of my life.” Psalm 42:6,8.

And in Psalm 77, the psalmist was so troubled he could not speak or sleep! So what did he do? “I will remember my song in the night. I will meditate with my heart and my spirit ponders.” Psalm 77:6.

And to My prophet Isaiah, I gave the same answer. The enemies of My people were holding them captive and pressing them down. And what was My answer to make things turn around? “You will have songs in the night when you keep the festival and gladness of heart as when one marches to the flute to go to the mountain of the LORD, the Rock of Israel.” Isaiah 30:29. And as they sang from their distress what would I do against their enemies? “And the LORD will cause the majesty of His voice of authority to be heard, and the descent of His arm to be seen in fierce anger, and in the flame of a consuming fire, in cloudburst, downpour, and hailstones. For at the voice of the LORD, Assyria will be terrified, when He strikes with the rod. And every blow of the staff of foundation, which the LORD will lay on him, will be with the music of tambourines and lyres; and in battles, brandishing weapons, He will fight them.” Isaiah 30:30-32.

Do you see? The songs brought Me down to fight against your tormentors and to loose your chains. And how did I battle? To the music of your tambourines and lyres, to your weapons of praise!

I am watching over you at every moment to be your helper and deliverer, won’t you sound the alarm and authorize Me to come down? And what is the alarm? The two silver trumpets and songs in the night. Remember Gideon?

“Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, and He is on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; how blessed are all those who wait for Him.” Isaiah 30:18.

I love you. Please get serious about this. Whenever you feel yourself plunging into the darkness and despair rising in your heart, don’t cry and sigh, sing the songs of the night, they make the darkness bright and let My love swirl through the world to bring the morning light! Yes, songs of the night, hovering so near, sweetly singing in your heart to let you know I am here, to let you know I am here. I AM.
