The king’s heart is channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He desires. Proverbs 21:1.
And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:5.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:
Jesus directed you, ‘“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40.
You may have wondered how you can possibly keep these two perfectly. But today I will give you the answer. But let Me begin with who you are IN CHRIST as a foundation and then give you the treasure that is the answer.
Jesus, concluded the crowds, has done everything well. Mark 7:37. I have given you Jesus that you may live your life through Him. 1 John 4:9. You are His bride, members of His body, you are His brethren, and He has made you My child and heir. Ephesians 5:23-32; 1 Corinthians 12:27, Romans 8:29, Galatians 4:6-7; Romans 8:16-17. He has released you from your sins by His blood and made you kings and priests unto Me. Revelation 1:5-6. It is by My doing that you are IN CHRIST, and I have made Him your wisdom from Me, and righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1:30. So that as it is written, “Let him who would boast, boast in the Lord.” You can do nothing without Him but everything with Him. John 15:5; Philippians 4:13. In is IN HIM that you bear fruit and that fruit comes from Me. John 15:5, 8; Hosea 14:8.
If you are IN CHRIST, He has done everything well. That means you have too before Me. For although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, yet I have now reconciled you with Myself by the fleshly body of Jesus through His sacrificial death, making peace through the blood of His cross, in order that He may present you, His bride, holy and blameless before Me beyond reproach. Colossians 1:21-22.
In Him you have been made complete. Colossians 2:10. By His one sacrifice He perfected you for all time. Hebrews 10:14. You are no longer strangers and aliens but part of My household. Ephesians 2:19. And you got there as a born-again bride of Christ.
Forget your people and your father’s house, for the King greatly desires your beauty. Psalm 45:10-11. I have redeemed you from the futile way of life inherited from your forefathers by the precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in Me, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in Me. 1 Peter 1:19-21. And though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9.
How do you get IN CHRIST? By faith in the One I sent—by believing in your heart I raised Him from the dead and confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. Romans 10:8-10. In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, I sealed you in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of your inheritance, with a view to the redemption of possession, to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:13-14. Your possession. You have an inheritance. I advised you of this by My apostle Peter, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Peter 1:3-5. And also by Paul, “The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ.” Romans 8:16-17. And again, “Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.” Galatians 4:6-7.
Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Revelation 19:16. And by His blood He has released you from your sins and made you a kings and priests unto Me. You are His brethren and He is not ashamed to so call you. Hebrews 2:11. IN CHRIST you are royalty both according to the flesh as descendants of Abraham according to the line of Judah, Galatians 3:29, and according to the Spirit as a child of the KING, Psalm 45:13, Romans 8:14, in My Son the Prince of Peace, who is King of kings and Lord of lords. Isaiah 9:6; Revelation 19:16. He is One with Me and IN HIM so are you. John 10:30; John 17:21.
Now, in the book of Proverbs, I revealed an amazing truth to Solomon, who was king of Israel at that time. “The king’s heart is channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He desires.” Proverbs 21:1. Pay attention now because you are now on the treasure vein. Channels of water, the Hebrew word used here is the plural of peleg (פֶלֶג), which means channels, canals, these are usually not in their natural state but worked on by men so that they divert water for irrigation and other useful purposes for travel or agriculture. They can be opened or shut. There can be much water or little flowing through as regulated.
I want to bring to your mind some Scriptures, and it may be My Holy Spirit is already reminding you of them. John 14:26. You who believe and have taken Jesus as Lord, are in His hand as your good Shepherd and thus you are in My hand. John 10:27-30. And when you believe in Jesus, you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, Acts 2:38 (Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”) and He regenerates you, but there is much more, as it is written in Paul’s letter to Titus: “But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:4-7. Do you see? The washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit whom I poured upon you richly through Jesus. Channels into hearts from My throne from whence the river of living water flows. Do you recall what Peter told the astonished crowds on Pentecost Sunday? “This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses. Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.” Acts 2:32-33.
Christ in you, your hope of glory. “And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:5.
Channels to the heart and out of the heart of the king directed by Me. Proverbs 21:1. Are you beginning to see the treasure of how to keep the greatest of the commandments? But before I go on, look at two more Scriptures with Me.
Go back to the Feast of Tabernacles that Jesus celebrated with My people when He walked the earth according to the flesh, “Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.” John 7:37-39. From the believer rivers, channels, (not just one) will flow of living water. And to what am I referring? I tell you, the Holy Spirit.
And let Me take you to a psalm of David. “How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; and You give them to drink of the river of Your delights. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.” Psalm 36:7-9. With Me is the fountain of life, living water, the river of My delights, and in My light, you see light. Sounds like the Holy Spirit and the delightful gifts of the Holy Spirit to Me, pouring from in Me. I know what My Spirit breathed into David to pen these lines as his song.
Well, how does this involve you and keeping the first and greatest commandment and the second one like it? In every way, for out of your heart flow the issues of life. So guard your heart and do not drink from any other fountain, do not look to other channels of input and output. Ask Me to direct your heart as you read in Proverbs 21:1, “The king’s heart is channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes,” by pouring in My Spirit until you are so filled you overflow that My love leaps up as your own to Me from the well spring of your heart and flows out the channels, the rivers, of your inmost being to your neighbor. John 7:37-39. Rivers flowing from within you! Channels. In Psalm 1 it is written, “How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by channels (peleg, פֶלֶגsame word as Proverbs 21:1) of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.” Psalm 1:1-3.
You can fulfill the great commandments if you allow Me to direct your heart. And how do I do it? “The king’s heart is channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes.” Proverbs 21:1. My Holy Spirit poured in your heart turns your heart into a channel of living water that My hand turns as I desire. Delight in Me and I give you the desires of your heart.
Open wide your heart and I will fill it. Enlarge your heart so you can hold the Spirit without measure as Jesus did. John 3:34. And how do you enlarge it? The same way Jesus did, “For He whom God has sent speaks the Words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure.” John 3:34. Look back at lines 1-3 of Psalm 1 that I just gave you above and you will understand. “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by channels of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.” Psalm 1:1-3.
If your earthly parents know to give you good things, how much more will I give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Me. Luke 11:13. Jesus told you how to ask in a dialogue with a thirsty woman by a well, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” She said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water? You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself and his sons and his cattle?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” John 4:10-14. And what did He call out to all at the Feast of Tabernacles? “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.” And what is My last invitation in the Bible? “The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.” Revelation 22:17.
Get filled with My Spirit by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs as you make melody to Me in your heart, Ephesians 5:18-20, and know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:19. Liquid love. My love is better than the finest wine. Song of Songs 1:2.
You have the heart of a king in you, for My Son has made you so. You are a temple of the Holy Spirit and have full access by the one Spirit to the throne of grace, Hebrews 4:14-16, Ephesians 2:18, and from My throne and that of the Lamb (the throne of grace) a river of living water flows. Revelation 22:1. I showed it in the Spirit to My prophet Ezekiel and he watched it flow from a trickle to a channel he could not cross but had to swim in as it turned and made everywhere it flowed into fresh water and caused trees to bear fruit and leaves that were medicine to the nations. Ezekiel 47. Channels in and out.
Do you see now why I have been telling you that prayer is a continuous flow between Me and you? And worship the same? Channels, rivers, canals, turning in the direction of the helmsman. The Holy Spirit pulls the helm with you. Romans 8:26.
The first community of the church could not but be filled with joy and the Holy Spirit. The river of delights. And it did not depend on outward circumstances. They suffered enormous persecution. Strange that others did not want to drink too.
Let Me direct your heart to joy. My joy is your strength. Have you never read the following proverbs? “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.” Proverbs 17:22. “A joyful heart makes a cheerful face, but when the heart is sad, the spirit is broken.” Proverbs 15:13. “All the days of the afflicted are bad, but a cheerful heart has a continual feast.” Proverbs 15:15. “The light of the eyes gladdens the heart; good news puts fat on the bones.” Proverbs 15:30. A joy-filled heart is a strong heart, giving health to your flesh and bones. And you can have it. Let Me direct your heart as channels of water in My hand.
And the channels of water, like irrigation channels, will irrigate and cleanse your heart with the washing of water with the Word. Regeneration by revelation—My Words to Ezekiel fulfilled, “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.” Ezekiel 36:25-27.
I love you. “The king’s heart is channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He desires.” Proverbs 21:1. You have it within your authority to ask Me to direct your heart, for you have a king’s heart. And this is how you fulfill the two greatest of My commands for you can love just as I love, for you can love with My love poured into your heart. Channels of living love as I turn your heart in any way I desire. Let us navigate together in a continuous flow. The more in the more flows out.
“Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters!” Isaiah 55:1.
May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ. 2 Thessalonians 3:5.
