He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1.
No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. John 1:18.
“I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the world again and going to the Father.” John 16:28.
In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:2-3.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:
There are places in Me that people never go because they live too much on the surface of who they are. Most people are “people pleasers” rather than “God pleasers.” They are more concerned and focused on how others are seeing them than on how I see them. They always have one eye, or both eyes, on the world, meaning other people and the opinions of men, and perhaps one eye on Me. Few are God focused.
John the Baptist was God focused. He cared little About worldly opinion and fame. He wanted to be My messenger and preacher, pointing only to the Messiah, not to himself. He wanted to decrease in worldly attention and glory and have Jesus increase in those who followed him. Andrew and John had been following John the Baptist, but when he pointed out Jesus to them, they came to follow Jesus. And John the Baptist rejoiced because that was his assignment.
He wanted to be his calling—the voice of one crying in the wilderness, “Make ready the way of the Lord, Make His paths straight!” Matthew 3:3. He wanted no glory for himself, he wanted all glory to go to Me.
And what did My Son say about John the Baptist? That up to the time of John the Baptist, no man born of woman was greater than he. John never sought his own glory but My glory and that gave him glory before Me and before men. The people flocked to the Jordan to be baptized by John and they regarded him as a prophet. “John was a lamp that burned and gave light, and you were willing for a season to bask in his light.” John 5:35. And today? He is very well known by all who read or know anything of the Bible.
Of course, Jesus is the greatest of all and yet He humbled Himself, emptied Himself and became a servant to all. To Me and to you. He never sought glory from men, He only sought My glory. He cried out, “Father, glorify Your Name!” Not His but Mine. But then I glorified Him and gave Him the Name above every other name.
Humility goes before honor.
Humble yourself under My mighty hand and I will exalt you in due time.
If you seek My glory, I see to yours. If you seek your own glory it comes to naught for the world is fickle. One moment they were carrying palm branches and exalting Jesus as King and then withing a week they were yelling to crucify Him.
Most people find their interests more important than Mine, but not Jesus, even at twelve years old He was only about My affairs and furthering My Kingdom.
And My apostle Paul noted that most people were busy about their own interests and not those of Christ Jesus. But Paul was different. He was My man and servant entirely and he cared little what anyone thought of him, he was only intent on one thing: pleasing Me, whether in or out of the body, that was all he wanted to do. And Paul went to deep places in Me, in fact, I took him up to the third heaven for a visit even during his sojourn on earth.
To go to deep places in Me—deep calls unto deep—you must go deep into yourself, past the surface of appearance to the inner chamber of your spirit and there we can talk in the enclosed garden, the Holy of holies, the Secret Place of the Most High.
But how do you get there? You take the time to step aside. Like Jesus who would go apart from others. They found Him early in the morning in a secluded place praying, fellowshipping with Me. And often He would send them on and go up on a mountain to spend the night in communion with Me. And this would be after an extremely busy day filled with people clamoring for His attention. But He found His strength renewed by resting in Me in the secret place.
And He invites you to come there with Him. “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30. There is only one way to Me, and that is Jesus. It is only with and through Him that you can abide in the secret place. He has purified you for that place with His own blood upon the mercy seat so that you can come in with confidence, holy, blameless, beyond reproach with your great High Priest who ever lives to make intercession for you, continually cleansing you in His blood as you walk in the Light.
Jesus told His followers at the Passover meal the night before He redeemed you on the cross, “I came forth from the Father, and have come into the world, I am leaving the world again and going to the Father.” John 16:28. And what did He tell you? “I go to prepare a place for you, and I will come again and receive you to Myself that where I am you may be also.” John 14:2-3. Where is He? In My Bosom. John 1:18 (“the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father”). He came forth from the deep place of My heart and He returned there. And He takes you in with Him, even now, if you will go. “Here I am with the children God has given Me.” Hebrews 2:13. Jesus is in the secret place of the Most High, the Holy of Holies, the throne of grace, My Bosom. The very deepest divine place from which all generates forth.
He knocks at the door and if you hear His voice and open the door, He will come in to you and dine with you, and you will sit with Him, and He is seated with Me on My throne. Revelation 3:20-21. “Come to Me, you who are weary and burdened, and I will refresh you.” He will bring you to rest in the lovely green pastures and by the delightful refreshing waters in the enclosed garden, the secret place. And there you will receive instruction and direction, “learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” And that is what you find in the secret place—rest, instruction, protection, direction, correction, perfection, and love, joy and peace.
When you open the door to Jesus by receiving Him as Lord and inviting Him into the center of your life, He takes you to the throne, to My bosom, the very center of the Godhead. If you note in the Book of Revelation, the Lamb is in the very center of the throne and that is where He takes you.
But there are many who have received Jesus who are still living in the outer courts and have never gone to the Holy of Holies though the curtain is open. Why? The never look deeper. They are too busy in the bustle of the outer court. But there is a way that leads right in and enthrones Me wherever you are. You enter My gates with thanksgiving, My courts with songs and shouts of praise, and then you bow down in worship (the secret place is a place of humility of heart before Me where your gaze is entirely on Me and not on yourself and others). WORSHIP IS A CONTINUOUS FLOW OF LOVE AND HONOR BETWEEN YOU AND ME WHERE EACH VALUES THE OTHER AND EACH FINDS THE OTHER PRECIOUS.
Once you have come into the secret place, you can dwell there. “You who dwell in the secret place of the Most High.” Jesus had an extremely busy life but He was always in the secret place.
“I am your shield,” I told Abraham, and I am the same yesterday, today and forever. Dwelling in the secret place, the devil cannot touch you. He had no part in Jesus.
So how do you stay in the secret place in Christ Jesus? I have told you, “rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give constant thanks, such is My Will for you in Christ Jesus.” When you are in the secret place you can do nothing else. It made the disciples rejoice when they were badly treated for the sake of the Name of Jesus. It made the three Hebrews sing in the fiery furnace. It made Paul and Silas sing chained to the floor in a prison in Philippi. It made David sing for joy in the shadow of My wings. “For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; in the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock. And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me, and I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.” Psalm 27:5-6.
David sang in caves running from Saul and when he became king he did not stop. In fact, he instituted round the clock praise before Me with loud cymbals, stringed instruments, and trumpets as the songs of the LORD were sung by 288 singers taking turns by lot. And I shielded Israel from defeat on all sides. I did the same later for Jehoshaphat who understood the power of praise and thanksgiving as a sword and a shield.
Jesus told you that when you pray, go to the secret place, close the door, and pray to Me in private where no one sees but Me. Not seeking others praise at your “powerful” prayers or amazing songs, but seeking Me and to lead others to Me.
What you are doing, no matter what it is, do it onto Me as the true Master you serve.
A good way to focus on Me when you pray is to bring a writing tablet and a pen and write down what you are hearing from Me. That is how the Bible was written—people full of My thoughts and not of theirs.
But when you get full of My thoughts, when they plant and grow in you, then your thoughts become Mine. In other words, we agree. And how can two walk together unless they agree? Your thoughts become Mine when Mine become yours. Your desires become Mine when Mine become yours. Do you understand what I am saying? We become one. True obedience does not seem like obedience because you become just like Me—walking in love, joy, and peace. My nature becomes your fruit. The fruit of the Spirit is produced in your life. And there is no law against the fruit of the Spirit. Obedience makes the law no issue at all.
You become godly by abiding with Me in the secret place. A transformation of the inner man so that when people see you, they see Me. Like Jesus. And as He is so are you in this world.
I love you. You who dwell in the secret place, who abide in the shadow of My hand, say, “My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.” Dream of Me and I’ll be with you, dream of Me, I’ll make you strong, dream of Me so I can bless you with sweet sleep the whole night long. Dream of Me and I’ll be with you, dream of Me, I’ll make you strong, dream of Me and you’ll awaken in My presence with a song!
