Cease from anger and forsake wrath; do not fret; it leads only to evildoing. Psalm 37:8.
“I am not at ease, nor am I quiet, and I am not at rest, but turmoil comes.” Job 3:26.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:
Do not fret. If you are walking with Me in My Word there will be peace. To the man who has, more will be given; to the man who has not, even the little he has will be taken away. The devil took everything away from Job for only one reason, he was not resting in Me, he had gotten out of faith into fear and fretting. He had no peace and he had no rest. He tells you so himself, “For what I fear comes upon me, and what I dread befalls me. I am not at ease, nor am I quiet, and I am not at rest, but turmoil comes.” Job 3:25-26. Fear and fretting put you in the jurisdiction of the devil, that is, the realm of darkness. But I have rescued you from the domain of darkness in Christ Jesus and transferred you to the Kingdom of My Beloved Son, so you should not be returning to the slavery of darkness a second time.
“Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him. Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.” Psalm 37:7. “Do not fret because of evildoers, be not envious toward wrongdoers. For they will wither quickly like the grass and fade like the green herb. Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and feed on His faithfulness.” Psalm 37:1-3.
So if, like Job, you have been fretting, anxious, and dreading things to come—and you just can’t seem to quiet your mind—let Me help you and give you a new focus that will give you peace. Never forget that I AM present as your helper and the sustainer of your life. You cannot find peace in yourself alone and that is why Jesus gave you His peace, and His peace is My peace. And Jesus was so at peace, so at rest in Me, that He could lie down and sleep peacefully even in a storm. And His peace was so great and so powerful He could make the pounding waves calm into peaceful waters. His presence exuded peace. And so can yours, for Christ is in you.
So how do you get into this haven of peace? Look into My Word, the perfect law of liberty, and find your answers. “You LORD will keep him in perfect peace (in Hebrew it is shalom, shalom, repeated twice signifying a double portion of peace, prosperity, health, good relationships, and all that you need for life and godliness) whose yetzer (mind-set) is stayed on You; because he trusts in You. Trust in the LORD forever; for in the LORD God is an eternal rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4. An eternal rock cannot be moved. So why do so many believers fretting and do not have peace? “You neglected the Rock who begot you and forgot the God who gave you birth.” Deuteronomy 32:18. Looking about at the circumstances they forget Me. But it is I, even I, who comforts you. Who are you that you are afraid of man who dies and of the son of man who is made like grass, that you have forgotten the LORD your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, that you fear continually all day long because of the fury of the oppressor, as he makes ready to destroy? But where is the fury of the oppressor? The exile will soon be set free, and will not die in the dungeon, nor will his bread be lacking. For I am the LORD your God, who stirs up the sea and its waves roar (the LORD of hosts is My name). I have put My words in your mouth and have covered you with the shadow of My hand, to plant the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, to make stable the earth, and to say to Zion, ‘You are My people.”
People forget Me and fret and get into fear because their minds are not set on Me.
How do you keep your mind set on Me? The same way you do anything—you are more aware of that person, thought, word, or thing than you are of other people, thoughts, words, or things. If you know you have a healer when sickness tries to take you down you won’t fret if you set your mind on the healer. You will confidently call on your healer and shut out the contrary. But you have to do this in prayerful dialogue with Me whenever you start fretting and being anxious about something. That is what Paul did and he shared it with you, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7. My Will for you in Christ Jesus is that you rejoice always, pray without ceasing and render constant thanks. This keeps you in My rest and out of distress of mind and emotions.
When people came to Jesus to be healed of afflictions, He often asked them, “Do you believe that I can do this?” And it would be done according to their faith. “Let it be done to you according to your faith.” Not by your own works but by your faith in Mine. And you see someone’s faith by what they are saying and doing. And works without faith are dead. In fact, everything done without faith is sin.
Stop fretting about past mistakes or wrong turns you took. Many of you have done this for years. How do you stop that? By setting your mind on the blood of Jesus and what it did for you. It is the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to Me, that cleanses your conscience from dead works to serve Me, the living God. For by one offering Jesus has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. And the Holy Spirit also testifies to you; for after saying, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws upon their heart, and on their mind, I will write them,” He then says, “And their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Hebrews 10:14-17. He shed His blood for the forgiveness of your sins.
You overcome the assaults of the accuser, that is Satan, by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of your testimony. It is your double-barreled shotgun. If you will use it, you can shoot down fretting thoughts. For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. So take care how you listen; for whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has shall be taken away from him.
Be careful about complaining and fretting. It caused the Israelites I redeemed out of Egypt to keep themselves out of the Promised Land. And many years later, once they inhabited the Promised Land it would make them lose it for a time. Have you never read Moses warning to the Israelites, “Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and a glad heart, for the abundance of all things; therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the LORD will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in the lack of all things; and the enemy will put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.” Deuteronomy 28:47-48.
But actually when you fret it is because you have forgotten My great love for you and My power to bless and to save and My willingness to do so. “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting with excited anticipation for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.” Jude 1:20-21. Take the time to feed on My faithfulness. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD and whose trust is the LORD. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaves will be green, and it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8.
When a baby frets, what does the mother do? Picks up the baby, holds it to her cheeks and rocks the baby until it stops fretting and sleeps. I do the same with you, have you never read, “I led them with human cords, with bands of love. I treated them like those who lift infants to their cheeks; I bent down to them and fed them.” Hosea 11:4.
I love you. I invite you to come into My rest. “You who dwell in the secret place of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!” For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.” Psalm 91:1-4.
