Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my soul. Psalm 54:4.

Our help is in the name of the LORD who made Heaven and earth. Psalm 124:8.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present helper in trouble. Psalm 46:1.

When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches, for You have been my helper, and in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy. My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me. Psalm 63:6-8.

Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:

When you are in trouble, in danger, or you just cannot do something on your own, you need a helper! You don’t need sympathy as much as you need concrete help to deliver you and get the job done. You need a helper who knows how to do it and is willing to do it with you and for you. A helper is someone who comes in and pulls the load with you and does things you cannot do alone because of your lack of knowledge in that area, lack of strength, or just because you do not have a clue how to change or solve what at the moment looks impossible to you. A helper does not just drop in for a visit, he stays. He pulls the helm with you when you cannot turn it.

And as we continue our series entitled “Because you know My Name,” this is Life Lesson No. 8: “God is My Helper.” This is one of the wonderful promises I give you signed in My Name that are so guaranteed to you they become My identification before you. In seeing My Name you see Me. And I am present as your Helper.

If you want to see things as I see them, and thus have the solution, you must see Me. And how must you see Me? By My Names, that is, as your healer, your provider, your shepherd, your Father, your righteousness, your victory, your refuge, your fortress, your redeemer, your peace, and your deliverer. But what do these all add up to? HELPER. Your help is IN My Name. Psalm 124:8. Help just when you need it for just the area you need it in. Grace for help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16. Do not tremble or be dismayed, for I, the LORD your God, am with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9. And how am I with you? As your Helper, the sustainer of your life. Psalm 54:4.

The first one to name Me as his helper was David. David called on Me with many names—rock, deliverer, shield, strength, refuge, fortress, Lord of the breakthrough, King, LORD, Elohim, Most High, Almighty, and shepherd. David was always asking Me to help him and I did. Why don’t you do the same? Stop trying so hard to please Me by doing things on your own for Me, I am much more pleased if you call on Me to do them with you as your Helper.

In Hebrew the Word for helper is ezrah (עֶזְרָה) or ezer (עֵזֶר), being the feminine and masculine nouns, the verb it comes from is azar (עָזַר) which means “to help.” Now you know what the name of the prophet “Ezra” means. Helper. And so he was at rebuilding the fallen Jerusalem and bringing My people back to the knowledge of My Word, which they had lost.

The first letter of the word “ezrah” and “ezer” is the letter Ayin (ע). Ayin is the sixteenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet and its numerical value is 70. It’s pictograph and meaning is the eyes and salvation (physical and spiritual sight). The name of the letter is the word used for “eyes” in Hebrew. Its sound is silent. The early form of the letter was the drawing of a single eye but it developed into the way you see it in the ancient scrolls, which is that the ayin is actually two eyes united at the optical chiasma—the nerve center that receives and interprets visual impulses—at the back of the head. Two eyes attached to a central link can be clearly seen in the letter’s form. I commanded the children of Israel to keep My Words between their eyes speaking of this very joining, viewed from above the chiasma is the midpoint of the eyes.

The second letter of the word “ezrah” and “ezer” is the letter Zayin (ז). It is the seventh letter in the Hebrew alphabet and its pictogram and original meaning is a “sword.” While it means a “sword,” the meaning of the word is also connected to food and sustenance. The modern Hebrew word “mazon” (מזון), meaning “food” or “sustenance,” and the modern Hebrew word “hazana” (הזנה), meaning “nourishment,” both come from the same root as Zayin. Do you see why? The Sword of the Spirit is speaking My Word and I also refer to My Word as food for your spirit and body to give you strength and healing. It is significant as well that Zayin has the numerical value of seven, which has much significance, including the fact that the Sabbath is the seventh and holiest day of the week, and I commanded the Israelites to let their land lie fallow (rest and refresh) every seventh year according to a law called “shmita.” As Ziyan is the first letter of the word “zahor” (זכור), meaning to remember, and this is one of two basic commandments of the Sabbath, so there very strong link between the seventh letter in the Hebrew alphabet and the day of rest!

And this brings us to the third letter, which is the letter “resh (ר).” Resh is the twentieth letter of the Hebrew aleph-bet and its numerical value is 200. The letter Resh alludes to the word ‘rosh‘ (head). The head is the most significant of all the parts of the body. It is the source of intellect, reason and wisdom. It also signifies the first part (such as the head of the year (or beginning)) as well as the human head or mind and the thoughts your mind is dwelling upon. The pictograph is a man’s head.

And the fourth letter is Hei (ה). We have studied hei in our first two life lessons. Hei signifies grace and its pictogram is an open window to Heaven or a man with arms raised in awe and praise at the grace and revelation received from Heaven. Its numerical value is 5.

Do you see from the Hebrew letters wherein you get your help? How it comes? You keep My Word before your eyes, you take up the Sword of the Spirit to speak My Word in agreement with the High Priest of your confession (Jesus is the Head of the Body of which you are a member) and feed on My Word, you thus renew and transform your mind and My grace pours out from Heaven as you speak My Word into your need. But I had already told you that, “My child, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them and health to all their body. Proverbs 4:20-22. The help is in My Words of power planted in and by you. I send My Word to heal you and deliver you from all your destructions. Psalm 107:20. And that is help. Your miracle is in your mouth. Death and life are in the power of your tongue.

My Word revives, helps and strengthens you. If you continue in My Word you are truly My disciples and then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. And that is saving help. The implanted Word has the power to save your souls.

Have you ever been in despair and I sit you down and give you a Scripture? Say you are feeling very shameful, guilty, and like you just cannot go on, like your life is displeasing to Me and you despair of Heaven itself. And I tell you in your heart to open your Bible and in your heart you hear the words “3-22” and you wonder what that means. And then you look where you opened and it is Lamentations 3 so you look to line 22 and as you read it confidence, strength and joy fills your heart, “the LORD’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail.” And you know I am there with you in your time of trouble to reassure you of My love for you. And then you read on, “They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. ‘The LORD is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I have hope in Him.’ The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the one who seeks Him.” Lamentations 3:23-25. And there you shout for joy in your tears of joy and say, “The LORD is my portion, therefore, I have hope in Him!” and you start singing, “Great is they faithfulness!”

The Israelites had a similar experience with they had abandoned Me and My Word and turned to other gods and had been conquered and taken to Babylon. But as I promised them in through the prophet Jeremiah, they would again seek Me and I would help them in their exile, prosper them and bring them back to a miraculous rebuilding of Jerusalem and of the temple. I kept My Word to the exact date, but when Ezra the prophet raised a platform and all the people gathered at the feast of Tabernacles, which they had not kept for over 70 years, and Ezra read to them the Torah, My Words, that they had forgotten and not obeyed, they wept in shame and regret. But then Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the LORD your God; do not mourn or weep. Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our LORD. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Be still, for the day is holy; do not be grieved.” So all the people went away to eat, to drink, to send portions and to celebrate a great festival, because they understood the words which had been made known to them. Nehemiah 8:1-12.

In My Word I often tell you that I am your helper, see Me that way. If you don’t know what to do, if you have made a mess of things, or if others have made a mess in your life, I am not judging you, I did not send My Son to condemn the world but to save it, I am there to help you find the way out. I am your help and your shield. Psalm 33:20, Psalm 115:9-10 I am your help and your deliverer, Psalm 70:5.

So what does it mean to YOU that I AM your Helper? It means I am there for you to help you. If you need comfort and encouragement, I am the God of all comfort and the Father of Mercies. If you need instruction, I am the LORD who teaches you to profit and the way you should go. If you need protection, I am he LORD your protector, your refuge, your fortress and I have you under My wings. I am the LORD of hosts and I can send angels to protect you and bring you to safety, as I did for Lot, Elisha, Hezekiah and Peter. If you need healing, I the LORD am your healer. And I could go on. See Me in My Name and call on Me to help you.

In the beginning I spoke, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” So I pulled the female out of the male and there was the first groom and bride. But the first bride led the first groom into sin rather than being the helper. But now with the second Adam, Jesus, I pulled His bride the church, His body on earth, out of His wounded side and He is the savior and helper of the Body, the Bride, but you also are His helpers to do My Will on earth. And there is much more. Jesus did not leave you orphans, He sent you My promise of the Helper. Another Helper besides Himself to be in you and with you always.

Yes, I know you need a helper so badly that I poured My Spirit into you to be with you and in you forever as your Helper, the Paraclete, the one at your side to pull the helm with you! To teach you, guide you to all truth, pray in you and with you, lead you, witness with your spirit, remind you of all I have said, show you the things to come, give life to your mortal body, and raise you up on the Last Day and change you in a twinkling of an eye to an immortal body of glory. And that is a Helper indeed.

I love you. I am present as your Helper. And you will notice whenever Helper is mentioned it is paired with Elohim. The trinity, the creator of the universe. Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all present to help you. Jesus came to serve, not to be served, to give His life for you that you could have the life that is life indeed. And that is the Helper. Not for just an hour, not for just a day, not for just a year, but ALWAYS, always. He is with you ALWAYS, and so am I, and so is the Holy Spirit. And we are the same yesterday, today and forever. I AM who I AM. And when you get to Heaven, Jesus, who came to get you and prepared a place for you, is waiting to help you and sit you down at My table and serve you.

Blessed are those servants whom the master will find on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that he will gird himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and will come up and wait on them. Luke 12:37.
