“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Mathew 28:18-20.

“I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.” 1 Corinthians 3:6-9.

Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:

I tell you to be My witnesses to the world, to shine on the dark world like bright lights offering them the Word of Life as you yourself hold fast to My Word. And today I am going to teach you how to witness. First and foremost all witnessing must be motivated by love and compassion. When Jesus looked at people, He felt compassion for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And what was His reaction of compassion for them? “And He began to teach them many things.” Mark 6:34. They needed to know Me, the one true God, and the One whom I sent, Jesus Christ. And this is eternal life.

The spirit of witnessing, which is also evangelizing, is compassion. Today, more than ever, people don’t know Me and they are wandering like sheep without a shepherd. And they are easy prey for the evil one, for he is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8. How do you save them? Only if they know the truth, for the truth will set them free. They need to hear My Word, for there is a famine in the land for My Word, and man cannot live the life that is true life without it. “Just as the shepherd snatches from the lion’s mouth a couple of legs or a piece of an ear,” so must you. As long as so much as a piece of an ear is still available you can get My Word into them and snatch them out of the lion’s mouth. You remember from the first parable My Son told what the devil’s primary mode of operation is—to steal the Word out of people before it takes root, before it takes deep root. Because once you have My Word, you are no longer prey to his tactics—submitted to My Word, you can resist him and he has to flee. He has no choice when you know My Word. It is the Sword of the Spirit and it will run him through to pieces every time. The Blood of the Lamb and the Word of your testimony—witnessing. A witness gives testimony.

The only way to resist the devil is by holding fast to My Word. And how do you do that? By hearing and treasuring it in your heart, by speaking and declaring it, by doing it, but above all by thanksgiving and worship. The only way you will hold on to any of the many gifts and promises I give you is by thanksgiving and worship. You can receive healing and provision but, as I told the Israelites, the easiest way to lose it is not being thankful and rejoicing in the good I have given you. Deuteronomy 28:47-48. Then the devil can return with seven demons worse than before. You have to be established in My Word and remain steadfast to be a good witness, otherwise those you witness to, who blinded by the devil and captured to do his will, may cause you to doubt your own salvation. “And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach— if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard.” Colossians 1:21-23. You must hold onto that you are forgiven, blameless , holy, and beyond reproach in Christ Jesus.

A witness possesses personal knowledge, you cannot witness on hearsay in a court of law. But you may be thinking that while the disciples who walked with Jesus had personal knowledge of Jesus, those who touched Him with their hands and heard His voice as their teacher and friend and Paul saw him very clearly in a vision on the road to Damascus and at other times also, you have not. But that is not the case. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1. And who is Jesus? He is My Word. The Word that expresses who I am. Seeing My Word, you see Me, hearing My Word, you hear Me. If you abide, continue, remain in My Word and My Word abides, remains and continues in you, you are truly My disciples. My Son is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and in seeing Him you see Me. But what is the Way that you must walk? My Word. What is the truth that sanctifies you? My Word. What is the Life that is life indeed? My Words are LIFE to those who find them and health to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:22. If you know My Word, you know Me. To be a qualified witness of Me in the world you must have personal knowledge of My Word. It is written, “Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith.” Hebrews 12:2. This was written after Jesus had died for your sins and I had raised Him from the dead with all your sins gone. So how do you keep your eyes on Jesus? By keeping My Words always before your eyes, just as I commanded the Israelites I brought out of Egypt. Deuteronomy 6:8; Deuteronomy 11:18; Proverbs 4:20-27. I revealed Myself to Samuel by My Word. 1 Samuel 3:21.

My prophets of old knew Me by My Word. so did Moses. And the same is true for you, but to a much greater extent because now My Word became flesh and dwelt among you and He revealed to you how My Word operates in the physical realm. And now I have given you My Spirit to dwell in your spirit and He witnesses to Jesus from personal knowledge of Him, and you must witness as well. John 15:27-28. And He will give you words and a wisdom no one can take exception to or contradict.

Jesus, the faithful witness, spoke My Words and did My Works. He never pointed to Himself but to Me. And He leaves you many examples of how to witness—how to seek out and save the lost. So now I am taking you to a lesson in witnessing from an incident in the life of Jesus, He shows you how to win the lost and then turn the lost into witnesses as well.

Jesus left Judea and headed for Galilee. On the way, I tell you that he had to pass through Samaria. This was not the route generally taken from Judea to Galilee by the Jews but the reason He had to go that way was because I directed Him to do so. Once I directed Him there was no other way He would go. So He came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph; and Jacob’s well was there. So Jesus, being wearied from His journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about noon. John 4:1-6.

The disciples wanted to go get food but Jesus declined to do so and remained sitting by the well. So the disciples went into the town without Him. Jesus had other food to eat, as He called it, which was My Will to save the lost and comfort those who are afflicted. And a well was a place at that time where everyone had to go to draw water, today it could be in front of the market, at a place of business, or just along the street. And sure enough, the person came to the well that I had in mind.

There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus could have kept to Himself and said nothing, as too many of you do when I try to get you to witness to a troubled soul. But Jesus opened a conversation. And it is that easy. Just open a conversation right on the street or wherever you are. Jesus saw she was drawing water, and He was obviously a traveler that she had not seen before so He asked her to give Him water to drink. A bit taken aback, the Samaritan woman replied with her past experiences with Jews, who avoided Samaritans as unclean since they had intermarried with the Assyrians, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman?” Now that He had her attention, and had gotten her curious, Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” He had now brought up the conversation to a whole new level, a spiritual solution to her thirsty soul. She was not quite there yet though so she said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water? You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself and his sons and his cattle?” She now is bringing up her connections with the Jewish people and questioning who is talking to her. Jesus knew she was ready for more. Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” John 4:7-14. Now she was interested, she wanted that water. And that is the way to witness, start with the ordinary and go to the spirit. Tell people about their heavenly account filled with healing, provision, redemption, comfort, peace, good things, and restoration.

And like the woman answered Jesus they too will answer you, “Sir, give me this water, so I will not be thirsty nor come all the way here to draw.” And then you must introduce them to what I have done for them in Jesus.

But she was not quite ready. My Son had a word of knowledge about her and as you are witnessing My Spirit may give you that if is what the person needs to hear. Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband and come here.” The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have correctly said, ‘I have no husband’; for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly.” He complemented her for being truthful but let her know He knew of her omission of her current lifestyle of sin. But this word of knowledge brought her totally into trust that He knew what He was talking about. The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.” Now He could lead her into the truth of worship. John 4:15-20.

Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” She had just received the answer that she needed to embrace a whole new relationship with Me. John 4:21-24.

The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.” Jesus had brought her to the salvation that was coming in the Messiah, in Him. Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.” John 4:24-26. And that was enough, she believed and received.

But something wonderful then took place. The woman, now a believer in Jesus as Messiah, left her waterpot, and ran into the city proclaiming the good news, “Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done; is not this the Messiah?” John 4:28-29. And she was so on fire that they all went out of the city with her and came to see Jesus. John 4:30.

Meanwhile the disciples had returned and were urging Jesus, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” Witnessing is very satisfying, and you will find it so once you start. But the disciples did not understand yet, but when they became witnesses they would. So they were saying to one another, “No one brought Him anything to eat, did he?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work. Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest. Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this case the saying is true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.” John 4:31-38. And this is true today and was prophesied long ago by Amos. Amos 9:11-13.

And from that city many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who witnessed, “He told me all the things that I have done.” So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. Many more believed because of His Word; and they were saying to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world.” John 4:39-42. And the Samaritans were ready for a great revival when Philip witnessed to Jesus there after I raised Him from the dead. And Philip was not one of the twelve but a new convert after I raised Jesus from the dead. Acts 6:1-6; Acts 8:4-8. And then I took Philip by the Spirit to witness to an Ethiopian official traveling in a carriage back to Ethiopia. Acts 8:25-40. Witnessing is often one-to-one but can include more, but each person will be reached. Do not despise witnessing to one alone. Jesus did not at the well by Samaria, but it had far reaching effects, and you will also.

What changed the Samaritan woman’s life? Jesus revealed to her the Messiah. And that is what you do to lead others to salvation. Show them the Scriptures and explain them such as John 3:16, 1 John 4:16, and Romans 10:8-10. Have a card or bookmark to hand them with My Words of forgiveness, healing, and deliverance from the Bible. And when they have heard, ask them to open their heart to Me by receiving Jesus as their Lord so they too can hear My voice and know My beautiful plans for their life. Bring all to the new birth and snatch them from the flames of hell.

Witness to My Word and lead them to Jesus, their Messiah.

And do it only with love for them and concern for their direction, protection, and salvation. People know when you are sincerely interested in them. And if they reject what you have to offer, do not take offense or think you have failed, you have planted a seed. I will grow it.

Now I think you will understand what My Holy Spirit wrote for your edification about witnessing by the hand of Paul, a great witness who won great numbers for Christ, but he did it one by one, even in crowds it is still one by one, I never see crowds, only every individual in the crowd and I know just what they need. But I need you to give Me something to work with, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. It does not depend on you to make them believe, it is your job to plant and water the seed. Then I can work in their lives once you open the way for Me.

See yourselves as My fellow workers, as servants of Christ and stewards of My mysteries. 1 Corinthians 3:9, Ephesians 3:4. A servant is doing well when he obeys the master, a student when he obeys his teacher. Jesus came as a servant and He witnessed as I showed Him—I tell you that He had to pass through Samaria, Jesus told Zacchaeus that “I must stay at your house today,” which was a total surprise to Zacchaeus who longed to see Jesus but had not invited him over. And Jesus told His disciples that they would cross over to the other shore and took them to the Gadarene territory (the country of the Gerasenes), just to leave and cross back over again. Mark 5:21. But He was out to save two demon possessed men, one of whom was possessed by a legion of demons. And Satan suspicioned it and threw up a storm as he did not want to lose his stronghold in that territory. You have to understand that Satan does not want you to witness, cast out demons, or get the Word to others and he will not congratulate you about witnessing but will make every effort to stop you or make you fearful about it. But Jesus knew what to do. He rebuked the storm and went right ahead with the journey. And when the demons tried to keep their place, Jesus cast them out. And that was it.

Jesus told you, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Mathew 28:18-20. The last few words are very popular and comforting, and they are true for all places, but they are in the context of witnessing. He is with you as you go to tell the good news and make disciples. Fellow workers.

I love you. Do not just witness for Me, witness with Me. Always witness in union with Jesus. Never do it alone. He is the perfect witness. And I have put My Spirit in you and He testifies (witnesses) to Jesus. And you must as well. John 15:26-27. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Revelation 19:10.
