For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:6.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
To have a controlled tongue you must have wisdom and understanding along with knowledge. I am the source of wisdom, and I give it generously and without measure to those who ask Me for it, and from My Word come knowledge and understanding.
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5.
And wisdom flows to you by the Holy Spirit, and similarly to wisdom, I tell you to ask Me for the Holy Spirit, which is asking for wisdom, understanding, and knowledge.
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him? Luke 11:13.
You will find that when people exhibit extraordinary wisdom that even those who are not believers in Me as the one true God attribute it to Me, such as Pharaoh and Nebuchadnezzar with respect to Joseph and Daniel, because they see it in those who believe in Me, those who are in Covenant with Me.
Then Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God?” So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has informed you of all this, there is no one so discerning and wise as you are. You shall be over my house, and according to your word all my people shall be ruled; only in the throne I will be greater than you.” Genesis 41:38-40.
The queen spoke and said, “O king, live forever! Do not let your thoughts alarm you or your face be pale. There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the Spirit of the Holy God; and in the days of your father, illumination, insight and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods were found in him. And King Nebuchadnezzar, your father, your father the king, appointed him chief of the soothsayers, conjurers, master astrologers, and diviners. This was because an extraordinary spirit, knowledge and insight, interpretation of dreams, explanation of enigmas and solving of difficult problems were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Let Daniel now be summoned and he will declare the interpretation.” Daniel 5:10-12.
And so it should be now in this world with you who are in Christ Jesus. For in Him are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge because He is My Word. People should be impressed by your wisdom and understanding, especially in these latter days when you should be calm and collected while everyone is running in fear because you understand the signs of the times and understand what you should do.
Of the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their kinsmen were at their command. 1 Chronicles 12:32.
Wisdom proceeds from Me and is poured out on you and in you by My Spirit. Here I am talking about the wisdom from on High, which gives skill and power in the sense of giving benefit to others and bringing the glory of My Kingdom to earth.
Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and strife in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealousy and strife exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:13-18.
Every good thing given and perfect gift comes down from above, from Me, for I am the source of all good and only good. The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. You normally would not find this as a definition of “wisdom” but wisdom comes from Me and I am pure, peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, and without hypocrisy.
Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and strength, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD, and He will delight in the fear of the LORD. Isaiah 11:1-3.
And this prophecy of Isaiah (a word of wisdom from My Spirit) came to pass in Jesus when John baptized Him in the Jordan River and My Spirit descended from Me as a dove and rested upon Him. And He walked in that anointing. And so can you, for the same Spirit that rested on Jesus is resting on you.
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Paraclete, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. John 14:15-17.
Wisdom has to do with skill for the assignment for your life. When I gave Moses the intricate plans for the beautiful and majestic furnishings and structural components of the Tabernacle he needed workers to make it according to the plans, and those workers had to be highly skilled in creating settings for jewels and setting them, engraving, sculpting in gold, silver, and bronze, weaving curtains with artistic designs in them, making the vestments of glory for the priests, carving wood, making anointing oil and fragrant incense, and so much more, and yet none of those coming out of slavery in Egypt had done anything of that caliber. They had spent their time making bricks with straw, clay, and mortar.
But for Me that was not a difficult matter, nothing is too hard or too wonderful for Me. I anointed those who had artistic talents within them and found that kind of work their delight, the work that was in My plans for their lives before they were born as they formed in their mothers’ wombs, and poured My Spirit of wisdom on them to supply what they lacked in knowledge and understanding.
I told Moses that I had called by name Bezalel, in Hebrew his name means “In the shadow of God,” the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and filled him with My Spirit in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of workmanship, to make artistic designs for work in gold, in silver, and in bronze, and in the cutting of stones for settings, and in the carving of wood, so that he could work in all kinds of craftsmanship. Exodus 31:3-5.
But Bezalel could not do so much work alone, he needed other skilled workers with him. So I Myself appointed Oholiab, in Hebrew, his name means “the tent of My father, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the hearts of all who are wise hearted, I put wisdom as a gift, that they were able to make all that I commanded Moses perfectly as masterful artisans, weavers, perfumers, and builders. Exodus 31:6.
So the sons of Israel did all the work according to all that the LORD had commanded Moses. And Moses examined all the work and behold, they had done it; just as the LORD had commanded, this they had done. So Moses blessed them. Exodus 39:42-43.
You will notice that I always join wisdom with understanding and knowledge.
By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. Proverbs 24:3-4.
Wisdom builds, understanding establishes, and knowledge fills in the precious treasures. In Hebrew the word for “understanding” is binah and the verb form is bin, which is translated as “discern.” So you see, understanding gives you discernment.
When Solomon became king of all Israel, he was young and inexperienced. He looked to Me to find skill to govern wisely. I appeared to Him in a dream the night he had come to inquire of Me and give Me praise and glory in sacrifices at Gibeon where the tabernacle of Moses was set up but the Ark of the Covenant was where David had pitched a tent for it next to his palace in Jerusalem. Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings upon the bronze altar, which Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made. When I appeared to him in that night, I said, “Ask what you wish Me to give you.” Think about that for a moment, what would you ask Me for if I said that to you in the night? Well, I am saying that to you now, so give it some thought.
Solomon responded by asking for wisdom and understanding to govern My people, but it asked for it in a very discerning way, he asked Me to give him a heart that hears, a heart that hears Me to gain wisdom and understanding just when needed to judge My people and to discern between good and evil.
And his request was pleasing in My sight. I granted his request. In fact, I was so pleased that I gave him more than he asked for. I gave him a wise and discerning heart, so that there has been no one like him before or after he lived, and I gave him both riches and honor, so great that no one has ever equaled it. When Solomon awoke, he came to Jerusalem and stood before the ark of the covenant where David had put it, and offered burnt offerings and made peace offerings, and made a feast for all his servants. Kings 3:3-15.
A heart that hears, שֹׁמֵ֙עַ֙ לֵ֤ב, Lev (heart in Hebrew) Shama (hearing), a hearing heart. The power of shama—to hear, listen, heed, obey, and proclaim. It is from My Spirit that you will learn wisdom and understanding and receive knowledge. He teaches you all things.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. John 14:26.
And Jesus elaborated further:
“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you. John 16:12-15.
And My beloved servant John tells you more by My Spirit:
These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you. As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him. 1 John 2:26-27.
And the Holy Spirit gives you grace gifts and they include the Word of Wisdom, the Word of Knowledge, and Discernment of spirits.
And wisdom is the first thing that you want to get, for it is the principle thing to living a life of good choices and knowing the right thing to do at just the right time.
The primary thing is wisdom so get wisdom; and with all your acquiring, get understanding. Prize her, and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her. She will place on your head a garland of grace; she will present you with a crown of beauty.” Proverbs 4:7-9.
I love you. The tongue of the wise brings healing. Proverbs 12:18. Death and life are in the hand of your tongue, reach out for wisdom, ask Me for it, and I will give you the Holy Spirit and you will have the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, of counsel and strength, of knowledge and the fear of the LORD, and you will delight in the fear of the LORD. Isaiah 11:1-3. In fact, you have Him already if you have taken Jesus as your Lord.
