The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. Romans 8:16.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
Are you listening to what My Spirit is saying to the churches? Revelation 3:22. It is the Spirit who testifies because the Spirit is the truth. 1 John 5:6. You need to be paying attention, for when He speaks to the churches, He is speaking to the members, and, in particular, He is speaking to you.
Give attention to My Words; incline your ear to My sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them and health to all their body. Proverbs 4:20-22.
When I change you from a sinner to a saint there is only one way you are going to stand strong against all attacks and move forward to victory in every situation. You must be led by the Holy Spirit; you must understand the inner witness.
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. Romans 8:14-18,.
When you learn how to be led by My Spirit you are walking with the wise and you will have the answer to all things and you will know His voice for it is born of My heart and My breath from deep within the fullness of the Godhead. The Spirit proceeds from Me and from My Son.
As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him. 1 John 2:27.
I sent Jesus to suffer and die for you so that I could give you My promise of the Holy Spirit, the living water bubbling up in you like a fountain till it overflows into rivers going out from your innermost being to cover the world with the knowledge of My glory as the waters cover the sea.
Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:37-39.
Of My abundant house I give you to drink from the river of delights and in My Light you see Light. The Light of life, the Light of truth.
And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; and You give them to drink of the river of Your delights. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light. Psalm 36:7-9.
If you have received and confessed Jesus as Lord and believed in your heart I raised Him from the dead as your justification from all sin, you can be led by the Holy Spirit.
“Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” Acts 2:38-39.
The Holy Spirit guides you to all truth, shares with you the things to come, and discloses to you My deepest thoughts and insights. I should think you would be asking how you are led by Him, not pushed, not shoved, not herded, but led. A leader, a guide, a teacher, a friend, one who pulls the helm of your life with you through every storm into your safe harbor.
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distresses. He caused the storm to be still, so that the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad because they were quiet, so He guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness, and for His wonders to the sons of men! Psalm 107:28-31.
How does the Holy Spirit lead you and teach you? First, you must understand that I am Spirit and I made you in My image and according to My likeness. You have a spirit (the inner man of the heart, the real you) and a soul (your mind, will, and emotions to whom your spirit communicates My thoughts in your own language so you can understand and work it out in your actions with your words and body), and your spirit and soul are housed in your body, which is formed from the dust of the earth and is the only way you have a vehicle in which to survive and qualify to take your dominion authority over the earth. But your spirit should be directing your soul and your body, not vice versa, which is the case with those who have not taken Jesus as Lord and believers who have not renewed their minds. Believers should be walking according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh. Jesus called that worshipping in Spirit and truth.
God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:24.
When you were born again by My imperishable Word, your stony dead heart (spirit) that had died to Me and come alive to sin by Adam’s rejection of My Word when he instead submitted to the lies of he devil, for the wages of sin is death, it switched his spirit from life to death. And you then, from his corrupted seed were all born into death. But My Word changes all that. Even before Jesus gave His body and blood for you, My Word and the covering sacrifices of the unblemished lamb and other sacrificial clean animals that were a shadow of which Jesus is the substance, pulled you out of death to life. That is how powerful My Word is to change sinners to saints and to raise up the dead to new life. But the Old Testament (testimony) was being administered on the credit of faith, but it had to ultimately be paid in full, and My Son has done that, so now there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus and I can freely give you all things and by My Spirit in and on you, you can be filled to all My fullness. My life in you by the gift of the Holy Spirit. And when Jesus returned to My throne in Heaven, having completed your salvation and purified you of all sin, He then poured down My promise to you, the gift of the Holy Spirit in accordance with My Word.
Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Acts 1:8.
This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses. Therefore having been exalted [to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear. Acts 2:32-33.
And when did I make this promise? I made it many years ago through My prophet Ezekiel, telling you of the good things to come:
Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances. Ezekiel 36: 26-27.
The great enabler. The skill giver. The teacher of all things. My Holy Spirit in you and on you.
So how does He lead you and guide you? The Holy Spirit leads you by the inner witness. He witnesses with your spirit, with your born again spirit, which some refer to as your conscience. It is your innermost self and being.
My Spirit abides in your born again spirit, for I have poured My love into your heart by the gift of the Holy Spirit and He has come to stay. Your teacher, the anointing, is in you and on you, that is, if you are filled with the Holy Spirit.
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. John 14:15-17.
How do you know you heard from the Spirit for sure? First, the word you are hearing must line up or be a direct quote from My written Word, and it will be a pure word.
Next, it will ultimately give you peace and joy when you finally decide it is from Me and carry it out. Next, if you have made the decision it is not from Me, and that is correct that will be the end of it in full assurance of peace. But if it is actually of Me but it is just beyond what you consider “safe,” or have faith for at the moment, like when I led Abram to leave his country and kinfolk and go to a land I would show him, or like Moses to set My people free and take them out of the most powerful empire at that time, then My Spirit will just keep bringing it back up and give you another witness that establishes it for you. And at that point I stop dealing with you about it and will help you to perform it because I can see that your heart is set to perform it no matter what the obstacle is in your way.
If it is a correction in your behavior, the Word will witness with your spirit for your spirit already knows where you are missing the mark.
The best way to understand this inner witness is the way Jesus explained it to the woman at the well.
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” She said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water? You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself and his sons and his cattle?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” John 4:10-14.
Jesus is a gift to you, but here He was going further to the ultimate gift I wanted to give when I gave Jesus to the world to save you from the sin that ensnared you and paid back the debt you owed to divine justice for the eternal life you lost. A life for a life to satisfy justice, but none of you had an eternal life to give in the flesh, being born of the corrupted seed of Adam as his descendants according to the flesh. But now Jesus gave His eternal life in the flesh in atonement and satisfaction for the one you lost and you are redeemed, put right with Me, reconciled and again filled with eternal life.
And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:11-13.
And now I have the desire of My heart that I expressed from the beginning to dwell with you and have fellowship with you. I now have My abode with and in you at all times. And within you as My sanctuary dwells the fullness of My Spirit. And He testifies to Jesus, testifies that your sins and offenses I remember no more, and witnesses with your spirit that you are My child, My heir, and a joint heir with Christ.
And since He is breathed by Me out of My heart revealing My deepest thoughts the way you know His voice is by getting to know Mine. And how do you do that? By reading My Word for it is Spirit-breathed!
From childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:15-17.
The more you read My Word the more you will know My voice. I am My Word and as you read and hear, speak and meditate My Word you are learning to recognize My voice and know My ways. Nothing can help you more to hear from Me and to be led by My Spirit then knowing My voice from knowing My written Word, for My Holy Spirit reminds you of all that I have said, but in order to remind you of it, you must already be familiar with it.
Honor My Words, bind them continually on your heart; tie them around your neck. When you walk about, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk to you. For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching is light; and reproofs for discipline are the way of life. Proverbs 6:21-23.
But now, from what Jesus told the woman at the well of the bubbling spring in you when you drink of the living water of the Spirit that He is offering you (He is One who baptizes you in the Holy Spirit) and then told the whole congregation at the feast of tabernacles when He cried out for you to come to Him if you are thirsty and drink from Him and rivers would pour out of you, I will describe to you how to know what you heard in your spirit is from Me.
It happens like this, you suddenly receive the witness of a Word from Scripture in your spirit and you begin to hear it in your mind and you know what passage that is, or you may be reading and it suddenly is like that verse lights up to you, and your heart leaps up in the Spirit and you know you hit the gusher as you grab hold of that Word. If you are familiar with the Spirit you understand what I mean. You get excited and begin to soar with on eagle’s wings for the answer you were waiting on Me for in your trial or inquiry has come. You know that you know beyond a doubt that you received the Word that is YOUR answer to what has been troubling you. And then you do not stop there you begin to search that Scripture out and read the other lines in the context around it and you know you have hit the treasure vein that will more than supply for just what you need for you have found the answer, you have hit the gusher of that fountain leaping up within you and the rivers are flowing out of your innermost being. It is a “Eureka!” moment. You have struck solid gold and it is yours, your answer, your healing, your provision, your solution, all now all you have to do is put My Word that you have received to work.
I love you. Be led. It is the only way to live a successful and exciting life of days of Heaven on earth.
One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the delightfulness and beauty of the LORD and to inquire in His temple. For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; in the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock. And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me, and I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD. Psalm 27:4-6.
