You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever. Psalm 16:9-11.

Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:

Saints make Me their dwelling place, and this is true even under the old Covenant. David did not have My Spirit in him as you do now that you have been born again in Jesus, but My Spirit rushed on him when Samuel, at My direction, anointed him as king to shepherd My people Israel and My Spirit never left him.

Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon David from that day forward. 1 Samuel 16:13.

Why did My Spirit never leave David? My Spirit left Samson and My Spirit left Saul. David made Me his dwelling place and he made that his one desire that fueled his life. David had a heart for Me and that never changed. No matter what happened, his heart never turned from Me to idols, to bitterness, to blame, or to pride. He never questioned Me about Saul’s evil conduct and all he suffered from him. He knew that was Saul’s choice and that if he just kept with Me, I would make it all turn out good for him. And that was his attitude when his son Absalom rebelled against him and tried to take the kingship from him as well.

One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the delightful beauty of the LORD and to inquire in His temple. Psalm 27:4.

And he called this the “secret place.” Psalm 27:5. And what would he do there?

And I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD. Psalm 27:6.

And I sang as well.

Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You in a time when You may be found; surely in a flood of great waters they will not reach him. You are my secret place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Psalm 32:6-7.

And when David became king, he did not forget Me and My Word as Saul did, and as David’s son Solomon did in his older age. Instead, David continued writing songs to Me (psalms), making musical instruments to praise Me, singing his love and gratitude to Me, and he wanted to make sure that there was continuous praise being lifted up to Me so he gathered together 288 Levites trained in singing and as musicians to play and sing songs of praise and thanksgiving before Me by drawing lots for their hour to play and sing before so that praise and worship went up before Me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 1 Chronicles 25.

Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to yourself and one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father. Ephesians 5:15-20.

David was in the world but not of the world because he kept his attention on Me and gave My Word first place in his life. He loved Me and My Word better than life itself and found it more valuable to him than heaps of finest gold. He was excited to hear from Me and spend time with Me. He wanted the Ark of the Covenant close by him and pitched a tent for it near his palace. He would sit in My presence and worship.

Then David the king went in and sat before the LORD, and he said, “Who am I, O Lord (Adonai) LORD (Yahweh), and what is my house, that You have brought me this far? And yet this was insignificant in Your eyes, O Lord (Adonai) LORD (Yahweh), for You have spoken also of the house of Your servant concerning the distant future. And this is the custom of man, O Lord (Adonai) LORD (Yahweh). Again what more can David say to You? For You know Your servant, O Lord LORD! For the sake of Your Word, and according to Your own heart, You have done all this greatness to let Your servant know. For this reason You are great, O Lord LORD; for there is none like You, and there is no God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 2 Samuel 7:18-22.

He listened to Me and I gave him the promises I had given to Abraham, his line would be the one I chose for My Son to come according to the flesh. When you make Me your dwelling place I show you My Yeshuah.

He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me. John 14:21-24.

My Word made David a wise and just king that united Israel and Judah and never lost a battle. He made the nation to prosper as I showed him how.

The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them Your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Psalm 19:8-11.

He always consulted Me before any battle or major decision in his life and I always answered him. When you call upon Me, I answer you and tell you great and mighty things you could not know. Be aware of that and ask Me questions and I will give you the wise answers.

David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue this band? Shall I overtake them?” And the LORD said to him, “Pursue, for you will surely overtake them, and you will surely rescue all.” 1 Samuel 30:8.

Then it came about afterwards that David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I go up to one of the cities of Judah?” And the LORD said to him, “Go up.” So David said, “Where shall I go up?” And He said, “To Hebron.” 2 Samuel 2:1.

And by My Spirit on him he wrote about how to make Me your dwelling place. So let us turn to Psalm 16 and learn from My Word how to stay in My presence at all times. It is a matter of where you put your attention and whether you are mindful of Me for I am always mindful of you.

Watch over and guard me, O God, for I take refuge in You. I said to the LORD, “You are my Lord (Adonai); I have no good besides You.” Psalm 16:2.

And so the Psalm begins. He is taking refuge in Me, his secret place, his dwelling place, where I can guard, preserve, keep and watch over him. He is drawing close to Me so I will draw close to him. James 4:7. The first step to dwelling in Me is desiring to do so and trusting I have received you to Myself.

All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. John 6:37-38.

And no one who comes to Me will I ever reject. Jesus told you that when you come to Him, you come to Me. And that is what you see in this opening of Psalm 16. David says to Me, Yahweh, and then he addresses Me through Adonai, who is Jesus. And David was aware of this, for he wrote Psalm 22 of Jesus on the cross and followed it with Psalm 23, for I raised Him as the good shepherd. Hebrews 13:20-21. And David was the one whom Jesus quoted as saying about Him, “The LORD (Yahweh) said to my Lord (Adonai), sit at My right hand until I make your enemies a footstool under your feet.” Psalm 110:1.  Jesus told the Pharisees that David addressed Him as Lord.

The last description Jesus gives of Himself in the Bible is this:

“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.” Revelation 22:16.

So first, you must come to Me through Jesus and confidently come into My secret place, the Holy of Holies, the throne of grace. Jesus is the connection that pulls you in by the new and living way out of the dark valley of the shadow of death to My table in My house which is the Kingdom. Jesus came out of Me, My very bosom, My very center as My Word begotten out of Me as My exact image and the radiance of My glory manifesting in the flesh by My Spirit and He prepared a place for you by taking all your sins on Himself and accepting your sentence of death in your place so that you too are raised up with Him to new life in Me as My born again children and where He is you also can be. But only the good shepherd can lead you there. And lead you in and out, so that you can take the good news out to the world but remain dwelling in Me.

Jesus is the Door that no one can shut that opens Heaven to you. He is the Light and the truth that leads you to there.

O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy mountain and to Your dwelling places. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and upon the lyre I shall praise You, O God, my God. Psalm 43;3.

The Light of the world and My truth lead you to My dwelling places. Jesus in the Light of world and truth. He is the way, the truth, and the life.

Let us continue:

As for the saints who are in the earth, they are the majestic ones in whom is all my delight. The sorrows of those who have bartered for another god will be multiplied; I shall not pour out their drink offerings of blood, nor will I take their names upon my lips. Psalm 16:3-4.

Here My Spirit is telling you the importance of whom you are joining yourself up with. David is delighting in friends that are believers and followers of Me and not joining with those who have left Me for idols

The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me. Psalm 16:5-6.

When My people took the Promised Land, they drew lots for their places of inheritance, but the Levites did not, for I was their portion. I gave them the best cities and farm lands out of the allotment of each tribe to be their cities and I had the tithes paid to them for the work of the ministry. They ate from the offerings as well. I was their portion. And in Jesus, I am your portion as well. It has pleased Me to give you the Kingdom and you are with Me always and everything I have is yours. I gave you My Son, won’t I give you all with Him as well? He is the greatest treasure of all and you will find all treasure that belongs to you summed up in Him. All My promises are “yes” to you in Him for I have made you a joint heir with Him, and all I have is His so through Him it is all yours. Your inheritance is indeed beautiful.

And now you learn how to stay constantly aware of being in My refuge, My secret place:

I will bless the אֶת LORD who has counseled me; indeed, He instructs me in the night in my heart. I have set (shavah (שָׁוָה), which means to agree with, be like, resemble) the LORD continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:7-8.

This is very important advice for staying in the dwelling place. You are continually mindful on purpose of My presence with you. You immediately include Me as right there with you in all that challenges you or could make you anxious if you were not aware of Me being there with you to counsel you and take care of it. You give Me your attention and honor Me by blessing Me and declaring what I have done for you even before it takes place. You are confident of My availability as with you to take care of everything with you and for you. Now with Jesus in you as your hope of glory by the Holy Spirit, it becomes inside minded and not just outside minded. And the next verse reveals that, for it is in the inner man of the heart where you are rejoicing over His presence and His care of all that concerns you. Indeed, in the next few lines, David refers to his spirit (heart), his soul, and his body.

Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will dwell securely. For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay. You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever. Psalm 16:9-11.

Dwelling in Me there is no fear of death or the pit for I have hold of your right hand and with Me, you just easily walk over from life in the body to Heaven and life in the spirit. It is a smooth transition for those already dwelling with Me. But I want to emphasize something revealed here that you must know, THERE IS FULLNESS OF JOY IN MY PRESENCE. If you want joy, just draw close to Me and do as David did, sing praise there till My joy enters you and My joy is YOUR strength.

When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches, for You have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy. My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me. Psalm 63:6-8.

He rejoiced and sang there, and I preserved him and gave him My joy. I bring you complete to My Kingdom, spirit, soul, and body.

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24.

I love you. Abide in Me as I abide in you and I will show you My Yeshuah. It is from abiding in Me with joy that My instruction comes.
