“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Mammon. Matthew 6:24.

Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:

People are seeking many things, chasing them, toiling for them, and yet many never find the true thing they are seeking. And most do not even know what it is they truly want, for each thing they so desired when they obtained it, they know they are not satisfied, so the race continues.

“For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, The fountain of living waters, to hew for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water. Jeremiah 2:13.

Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, “Consider your ways! You have sown much, but harvest little; you eat, but there is not enough to be satisfied; you drink, but you are not filled with drink; you put on clothing, but no one is warm enough; and he who earns, earns wages to put into a bag with holes.” Haggai 1:5-6.

My servant David knew what he was looking for and he died full of days, riches, and honor and a throne established forever in Heaven. 1 Chronicles 29:28; 2 Samuel 7:13; Luke 1:32-33. Listen to his song to Me and you will know what he sought with all his heart:

O God, You are my God; early I shall seek You. My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips will praise You. So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. My soul is satisfied as with the choicest part and abundance and my mouth offers praises with joyful lips. Psalm 63:1-4.

He was always seeking My face (When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You,
“Your face, O LORD, I shall seek.”
Psalm 27:8), and My Will (“I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will.Acts 13:22) and he found what he was seeking in Me and with it came the kingship, honor, riches, and glory, both with Me and man. And the same is true for you, when you seek Me I draw you to Jesus who releases you from your sins by His blood and makes you a kingdom, priests unto Me. Revelation 1:5-6.

And what did Jesus tell His disciples? “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Matthew 5:6.

If you want to be satisfied with all good things, it comes down to the very core, the very foundation on which your life must be built, of what you should be seeking to have everything added to you and more besides. There is only One in whom you will find the fountain of life and be fully satisfied with the delights at My right hand forever. In My light you see light and in Me you have the light of life.

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33.

As Jesus spoke to the crowd that day on the mountainside in Galilee above the Sea of Galilee they sat enthralled as He explained in depth how to walk in My commandments from the inside out and have a blessed and happy life. People are seeking to be happy. And they are also seeking righteousness so they can feel right about themselves. It all stems from the blessing which I blessed every one of you with at the time I conceived you in My heart, to be fruitful and take authority over the earth and your own life. Seeking a happy, righteous, and fruitful life is basically in each person’s heart. But your eye, that is your mindset, can become darkened to what is true happiness if you are looking to the wrong source to have your needs met. And that is what Jesus now reveals to the crowd:

“The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear ((in Greek the original word is “hapious,” which means “single, simple, sound” and literally means “without folds”), your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad (ponéros: toilsome, bad, evil, wicked, slothful), your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!” Matthew 6:22-23.

Again, seeking the Kingdom is matter of raising your mind above where Christ is seated at My right hand and not below in the dirt in which the devil crawls. Where you are looking determines where you set your mind. If you are looking to Me, your Father, creator, and LORD, your vision will be clear because My life will be in you to light your lamp, that is your spirit.

The spirit of man is the lamp of the LORD, searching all the innermost parts of his being. Proverbs 20:27.

But those who are seeking the world and their own flesh as the answer to their needs, their light will be darkness because they are gazing into the realm of darkness to find their answers and there are no true answers there because there is no source there that you can tap into other than broken cisterns and bags with holes.

Do not let your light be darkness. Keep single minded. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. Keep My Word before your eyes and in your heart and your whole body will be filled with light. And the fruit of Light is all goodness and righteousness and truth. Ephesians 5:9. My Words heal. My Words give life, eternal life. Satan, who is the god of this age, has blinded the minds (noéma: thought, purpose) of unbelievers so that they might not see the Light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is My image. 2 Corinthians 4:4.

Then watch out that the light in you is not darkness. If therefore your whole body is full of light with no dark part in it, it will be wholly illumined as when the lamp illumines you with its rays. Luke 11:34-36.

Keep your heart filled with My Word alone and your body will be full of light with no dark part in it, it will be wholly illumined as when a lamp illumines you with its rays.

Do not let the darkness in. It comes very stealthily but if you entertain it, it will take out your light. And how deep will the darkness be. Do not let fear, anxiety, hatred, resentment, offense, anger lodge in you. Get rid of the them before the sun goes down, or you will find yourself in the deepest night. If you have gone over to the enemy camp it is time to wake the dawn with your song.

Many have misplaced the idea of happiness. They hold it apart from righteousness and fruitfulness to only gaining and amassing personal wealth and worldly glory. So they leave Me out of the equation, like Adam, to pursue what they think will give them perfect happiness, or at least appropriate sustenance for themselves and their families, even if it requires pushing Me and My Kingdom laws aside to go after sustenance in the world, thinking that is a higher source than what I can give them. But that is what Adam did and it took him from fruitful abundance to painful toil wherein there was no true peace. Why? You are off My plan for your life of shalom, abundance in every area of your life. The whole pie of life with nothing missing, no one broken, and no one alone. You have gone out of your source to broken cisterns and bags with holes.

“Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourself in abundance. Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, according to the faithful mercies shown to David. Isaiah 55:2-3.

Jesus came to bring abundant life, life that overflows and that comes from the source in My Kingdom. My Blessing makes rich and adds no painful toil with it. But most people do not understand that if they seek Me, they will find access to the Kingdom and everything they are running after so hard but never obtaining.

Many today live seeking worldly riches so hard that they live unfruitful lives amassing worldly riches to hoard and spend them primarily on themselves in obtaining prestigious things. The things of this world and their own “belly” become their “god.” And many today are also using unrighteous means to obtain wealth and riches at the expense of human lives. And thus you understand what Jesus stated as the introduction to His Kingdom conversation:

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Mammon. Matthew 6:24.

Mammon is wealth and material goods personified as an object of worship. In other words, seeking the things of the world becomes the main focus of your life and you are serving that alone giving you no time for My Word or gathering with other believers. This is serious. It is time for you to evaluate your life. What are you spending most of your time seeking? Remember where your treasure is there your heart is also. Matthew 6:21.

Consider what you have been thinking upon today and spent most of your hours doing and you will see where your heart is. If I was not part of it, it benefitted you nothing.

I am not telling you not to work, I gave work as a sacred duty to man from the start. I told Adam to cultivate and guard the garden. But it was fruitful work with no toil or pain, and we met each evening in the breezy time of the day for fellowship and stewardship. I teach you to profit and the way you should go and I prosper the work of your hands because of My Covenant with you. My apostle Paul did not put up with lazy freeloading believers living off the labor of other believers, he told them if they did not work and have something to share, they would not eat.

But My vision of work is doing everything with Me, under My guidance, a partnership of fellowship, whereby I bless all you do as you do it with excellence unto Me to the benefit of mankind.

How blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in His ways. When you shall eat of the labor of your hands, you will be happy and it will be well with you. Psalm 128:1-2.

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by]streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. Psalm 1:1-3.

And if you want to prosper, tithe and make offerings on your income. I will open the windows (floodgates) of Heaven and pour down a blessing you cannot contain, you will have to share it. And I will rebuke the devourer off the rest of your earnings and your property and indeed from your land, family, and life. Paying your tithes and offerings in faith on My promises will keep you out of debt and lack, healthy and strong. Selah.

And that is the first portion off the top. It will keep the devil out of all the rest of your goods, things, and life. That too is part of seeking the Kingdom first.

Honor the LORD from your wealth and from the first of all your produce; so your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10.

I love you. It all comes down to putting Me at the center of your life. This pulls everything good to you like a magnet. This is enough for today’s Life Lesson tomorrow we are ready to look at what Kingdom living looks like.
