But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
To be an overcomer you need knowledge, vision, and humility.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6.
Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained. Proverbs 29:18.
But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6.
And when you have knowledge of Me, My Will and ways from My Word and spending time with Me in prayer, when you have vision from wisdom and revelation from My Spirit, and you have humility, the vision I have put in your heart will not fail.
Then the LORD answered me and said, “Record the vision and inscribe it on tablets, that the one who reads it may run. For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay. Behold, as for the proud one, his soul is not right within him; but the righteous will live by his faith.” Habakkuk 2:2-4.
Humility is the cornerstone of greatness. Without it your house will fall. Pride goes before a fall.
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before stumbling. Proverbs 16:18.
One of the greatest overcomers is Moses. He devastated the powerful Egyptian empire and got My people out of slavery with only a shepherd’s staff in his hand. And what do I tell you of all the details and characteristics of Moses that I considered most important for you to know with respect to his great success and achievements? He was humble.
Now the man Moses was very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth. Numbers 12:3.
And Jesus is the greatest overcomer of all and He leads you in triumph and has given you the victory over sin and death. And how does He describe Himself? Gentle and HUMBLE of heart.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30.
And I describe Him as such as well, for your edification and example:
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:5-8.
And I also tell you that I am humble as well.
The LORD is high above all nations; His glory is above the heavens. Who is like the LORD our God, who is enthroned on high, who humbles Himself to behold the things that are in heaven and in the earth? He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes, with the princes of His people. He makes the barren woman abide in the house as a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD! Psalm 113:4-9.
I can trust the humble with greatness, it does not take them off course. Why? They know I am their source of greatness.
And Mary said: “My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. For He has had regard for the humble state of His servant, for behold, from this time on all generations will call me blessed. For the Mighty One has done great things for me; and holy is His name. And His mercy is upon generation after generation toward those who fear Him. He has done mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who were proud in the thoughts of their heart. He has brought down rulers from their thrones, and has exalted those who were humble.” Luke 1:46-52.
And from experience, My apostle Peter told you that humility was the way to keeping on course. He knew. When he bragged of how he would never deny Jesus but would stand up and die for him, he had a great fall. But after true repentance, his faith did not fail as Jesus had prayed for him, and he knew how to lean on Me and draw all he needed to be the rock My Son had named him from then on. Paul called Peter a pillar of the church. Galatians 2:9.
And what is Peter’s advice? “All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:5-7.
Peter understood humility, he described it as casting all your cares and anxieties on Me, because I care for you. In other words, letting Me help you in everything and never thinking you can do life alone in your own strength. You can live a care-free life if you look to Me to see to all that concerns you and to provide for all your needs.
Do you know what I am saying? Yes, you must humble yourselves like little children to even enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Think of a child. They do not worry about provision. They trust and rest in the parent’s care. They know they are not their own source, that they depend upon another for everything in their lives, but that does not make them sad or embarrassed. They love it and are very bold about asking for what they need and an abundance for things that are fun and enjoyable.
Little children look forward and not back. They rejoice over their great future as they daydream of the wonderful things they will do when they “grow up.”
Little children enjoy things and find things amazing that an adult passes by unimpressed.
The devil is proud. Pride was the reason he fell from his exalted place as one of the cherubim, and he was the guardian cherub of Eden, he led worship, the music and songs, of Heaven. Every precious stone was his covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold. And he had musical skills within him: the workmanship of tabrets (tambourines) and of pipes was prepared in him in the day that I created him. Ezekiel 28:13. But his heart was lifted up because of his beauty; he corrupted his wisdom by reason of his splendor and I cast him to the ground. Ezekiel 28:17.
He once was Lucifer, a cherub of light, but pride destroyed him to the darkness of hell. And he became Satan (accuser, prosecutor). Have you never read what I told My prophet Isaiah about Satan? “How you are fallen from Heaven, O Lucifer, star of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who deceived and weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the lowest depths of the Pit.” Isaiah 14:12-15.
Pride is an ugly thing. There was none in My Son and yet He is God and His throne is with Me. There is none higher. Let your boast be in Me. For I have stooped to make you great. Mary understood where her beauty and exaltation came from, she knew her greatness but she was humble and called herself My lowly handmaid and yet she was the mother of My Son according to the flesh. She boasted only in Me. She acknowledged her greatness but turned all praise and glory to Me.
Are you beginning to see something here?
Judas Iscariot was proud. When he criticized the woman who anointed Jesus with costly aromatic nard, My Son corrected him. Proud people cannot take correction. They seek only praise. It makes them want to destroy the person who corrected them. Judas then betrayed My Son. And later his pride would not let him humble himself to accept that he had failed and done wrong and turn with a humble and contrite heart to Me.
When you cannot forgive yourself of a wrong you have done, that is pride, for you are saying the death of My Son is not enough to take away your sin and you are also saying, technically, that you are so good you cannot believe you fell into a temptation and will not acknowledge your weakness and dependence on My grace in you to live a godly life. You are saying you are the source of good, but you are not. I am. If you will humbly receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness, however, you will reign in life through Christ Jesus. You can do all things in Him WHO STRENGTHENS YOU. I am the source of your strength, I am the sustainer of your life, and I am the one who made you. I will supply for all your needs according to My riches in glory in Christ Jesus, but you need to receive that and rest in Me as you do the work I give you the will and skill to do. It is not by your power or might, but by My Spirit in you that great and extraordinary miracles, signs and wonders come about as you declare My Word.
Humility is a rest. You rest in knowing I am your source and that you can do nothing without Me, but that attaching yourself to Me, by the becoming a branch on the vine of My Son, you can do wonderful things.
And that is why I call humbling yourself as becoming like a little child. And it is worth repeating here, a child knows that he is not his own source, he is dependent on his parent, but that does not make him unhappy. In fact, it gives him great confidence that all his needs will be met the minute he asks for what he needs from the parent, and often before he even asks, for a parent knows what his child needs and does not withhold it at the proper time.
My Son was humble of heart. That is an attitude and mindset. It makes you grateful. My Son was always giving Me thanks—when He broke bread for the multitude, when He broke it at the Last Supper, when He prayed to raise Lazarus from the dead, and as He prayed long hours of the night on the hillsides of Israel. And when people praised Him for the authority of His inspiring sermons or the greatness of His healings and works, He always referred the praise and glory to Me. He told them He only spoke My Words and only did My Works. The Words I told Him and the works I showed Him. Would you say that when someone praises you? Or do you either say it is not true or else tell them how hard you have worked to accomplish what they see and take the credit?
Moses was the meekest man on earth and was a dear and precious friend to Me, but once he crossed that line and took on pride. He did not follow My direction to speak to the rock to give forth water to the people, thinking he knew better, and he took his own rod with him to do it when I told him to get the High Priest’s rod out of the ark of the covenant and hold it as he spoke to the rock for water. And to make matters worse, he attributed the miracle to himself (Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock; and Moses said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?” and then he struck the rock with his rod, not only once, but two times) and did not consecrate it to Me and also called My people “rebels” when I told him they were merely warn out from the journey. For this reason, I took them out of their leadership position and Moses and Aaron did not lead the Israelites into the Promised Land. Numbers 20:7-12. I resist the proud. Pride goes before a fall.
You may wonder why I told Moses to speak to the rock and not strike it with his rod (the rod of man) as he had the first time. This was a teaching about Christ beforehand. My servant Paul tells you that the rock that followed the Israelites to give them water in the desert was Christ (showing that He pours the Spirit into your heart to give you life giving water that becomes a well within you). Well, Christ was struck by the rod of men and grace gushed forth for you all. But that is an eternal redemption, Christ was punished once and died once for all sin from the beginning to the end of time. He does not need to be struck again as He has completed the work of redemption. Now you speak to your mountains to move them for Christ is your High Priest at My right hand and whatever you ask in His Name HE will do. You are now kings and priests who do these by decreeing a thing.
As Mary told the servants at the wedding feast, “Do whatever He tells you.” She knew that when I tell you to do something it is for a purpose, a revelation and a blessing. I reward those who seek Me. Do not lean on your own understanding, seek My counsel. Proverbs 3:5. A way may seem right to a man, but it could end in death. Proverbs 16:25. Be careful what you hear. Adam and Eve were not, and it cost them and you more than can be calculated. But My Son has paid that cost, not you, so be grateful. A proud person is not grateful. He thinks all he has is due him and that it is not enough. He sees the good he has as wages for his works and not as gifts of My grace earned by My Son’s work.
Many people pray that way, they beg me for something such as healing telling Me all the good they do and that they deserve it, or that if I do it they will earn it. Job was like that until I spoke with him. Very self-righteous. But I am your righteousness.
Watch for pride, it is deceitful, like the devil, for pride turned him into the father of lies and the deceiver of the nations. Pride can even disguise itself as humility. Think about that.
Pride destroys. It destroyed Saul, the king before David, it destroyed Solomon in his old age, it destroyed Samson, and it destroyed Judas, Herod, Pilate and the Pharisees. I have warned you about this ahead of time. Do not let the devil deceive you into the ways of pride. They are very subtle. But they cannot trap you if you keep your eyes always on Jesus and learn from Him, for He is meek and humble of heart, and His yoke is easy and His burden light.
I love you. Remember humility is a rest. It makes you an overcomer. If you are anxious and stressed out, check on your pride index. That is probably your problem for you think you must and can solve your own problem. I will tell you right now, without Me, you cannot. Ahab led the tribes of Israel into idolatry and he tried to disobey and outsmart Me, but a random arrow brought him down. Pride will cast you down, as it did Lucifer. Be careful how you live. Stay in the Light. Stay in Love. The more humble you are the more grace I can give you and with enough grace you can do anything. Build your life on humility and no one can offend you. And that will make you an overcomer.
