“All who overcome will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be My children. Revelation 21:7.

Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:

To the one who is an overcomer I open Heaven and My throne.

He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. Revelation 3:21.

There are many aspects to being one who overcomes, that is, comes out victorious through trials—one who stays steadfast in the faith and does not give up and retreat. But today I want to talk about one aspect only and that is about overcoming yourself in the sense of picking yourself up and going forward when you fail or fall instead of giving up and retreating. I am talking about overcoming when you sin, make mistakes, take detours, and, in general, disappoint yourself in your own actions, skills, mistakes, and sins. Overcoming is about getting up and going forward with faith even when you have fallen, made mistakes, messed up your life or the lives of others, done outright sins, deviated from the right path, and generally fallen short of your expectations. Overcoming is about believing in My forgiveness, having the courage to make right what you have done wrong, and taking responsibility to acknowledge and rectify your own mistakes or wrongdoing with My help, abundant grace, and the gift of righteousness instead of hiding it and just retreating and giving up going forward because of your own shame and disappointment. It is overcoming seeing yourself as worthless and unable to go on.

For evils beyond number have surrounded me; my iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see; They are more numerous than the hairs of my head, And my heart has failed me. Psalm 40:12.

In everyone’s life there are trials and failures that you must overcome to go forward with joy and peace. That is part of living in the world as it is now under the curse that Adam let in by aligning his life with evil and never overcoming it. When he sinned and fell with Satan, he did not turn back to Me and take up to rectify the sin he had done by taking responsibility and renewing our relationship. Instead he retreated in fear, blamed Me and the woman for his failure to follow the directions given, and gave up and gave in to the evil he had embraced and never believed he could fellowship with Me again. He was not an overcomer but a coward who succumbed. And it ruined his life and those of his chidlren.

Those who are overcomers are not so. In Abraham’s life there was an Ishmael with all the consequences from that disobedience to My promise of a covenant child with Sarah but he finally picked up and let that go as he went forward with Me to fulfill his destiny and high calling as your father in the faith. His faith took him so far from his fall that he was willing to take his beloved covenant child up the hill to Calvary to receive him back as a type of resurrection. The past was gone and the promise fulfilled in Jesus. He overcame in his knowledge that I Myself would supply the Lamb for the burnt offering to take away the sins of the world, including his. Jesus told you that Abraham saw His day and rejoiced. I taught Abraham the gospel ahead of time.

In David’s life there was a Goliath that he overcame and did not retreat in fear but there was also a Bathsheba that overcame him. But he acknowledged his wrongdoing, took responsibility, and ran to Me to help him through his own guilt and shame to forgiveness and going forward with joy in his high calling to shepherd My people. He overcame and became a witness of My merciful love, leading sinners to return to Me, even now by his example and his psalms. Just read Psalm 32 and Psalm 51. These are about how to overcome your own sins and failures so you can go forward with Me singing songs of deliverance.

How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered! How blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit! When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my vitality was drained away as with the fever heat of summer. Selah. I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not hide; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”; and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah. Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You in a time when You may be found; surely in a flood of great waters they will not reach him. You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Psalm 32:1-7.

There is repentance and responsibility with confidence in My love for you: Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, I have sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You are justified [d]when You speak and blameless when You judge. Psalm 51:1-4.

You must know and believe in My love for I am the God of your Salvation (Yeshuah, which is the Name of Jesus in Hebrew and I sent Him to take away your sins and reconcile you to Me and give you the Holy Spirit). The blood of Jesus and My Word cleanses your heart:

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will be converted to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation (Yeshuah); then my tongue will joyfully sing of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, that my mouth may declare Your praise. Psalm 51:10-15.

Do you see? My forgiveness led him to be a witness, giving testimony to teach transgressors My ways of lovingkindness, truth, and mercy and to convert sinners unto Me. He was taking up the ministry of reconciliation looking forward to Jesus. Just read Psalm 22, I had shown him My Yeshuah as if an eye witness of the crucifixion to the smallest details. And Jesus recited that psalm on the cross.

You can have confidence in to overcome even yourself since Jesus has died and taken the punishment off you onto Himself.

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 1 John 5:4-5.

My promise to you who overcome when you fall and get back up by repentance, receiving forgiveness, and going forward in confidence is that I will put right what you have done wrong.

He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. Revelation 3:5.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God.’ Revelation 2:7.

Think about those who overcame: Samson fell with Deliah but ended up returning to Me and having victory. Peter denied Me three times, disappointed himself beyond all he could have imagined he would ever do, but he repented and did not give up as Judas did. He returned, received forgiveness and strengthened his brethren in My merciful love as manifested in Christ Jesus. It made him more than a conqueror, which is even stronger than an overcome. And so are you in Christ. He went on to do great works with Me and be a pillar of the church, the body of Christ on earth, and still is in Heaven.

He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My new name. Revelation 3:12.

Elijah became discouraged and tried to give up and die. But when I spoke with him and set him again on course, he returned to Me and went on to anoint Elisha and leave earth without dying physically. He, like Enoch, walked so close with Me that there was no division keeping us apart.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.’ Revelation 2:11.

Do not lose heart, keep going forward for your reward is very great if you just get up and overcome.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.’ Revelation 2:17.

Nevertheless what you have, hold fast until I come. He who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations; and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken to pieces, as I also have received authority from My Father; and I will give him the morning star. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’ Revelation 2:25-29.

Never retreat and give up. Jesus died to put you right with Me. I have hold of your hand.

For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, but the wicked stumble in time of calamity. Proverbs 24:16.

The steps of a man are established by the LORD, and He delights in his way. When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong, Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand. Psalm 37:23-24.

Nevertheless I am continually with You; You have taken hold of my right hand. With Your counsel You will guide me, and afterward receive me to glory. Psalm 73:23-24.

When you fail, do not fear, do not give up, do not retreat, but take responsibility, repent, return, and stand up and use your faith.

Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. “For yet in a very little while, He who is coming will come, and will not delay. But My righteous one shall live by faith; and if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him.” But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul. Hebrews 10:35-39.

I love you. You are an overcomer because that is who I made you to be. As Jesus is, so are you in this world and He is an overcomer.

“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.
