You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. Psalm 23:.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
I want to overflow your cup. You need to know what I am telling you here. Overflow with what? And what is your cup?
Let us begin with the basics but then arrive at the fullness. Spirit, soul, and body make up your earthen vessel in which you contain a treasure of eternity in your spirit, Christ in you, your hope of glory by the Spirit who My Son and I have poured into your heart to fill you with love, which is the divine nature.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves. 2 Corinthians 4:7.
Jesus gave you His fullness, His body and blood, in a new and everlasting Covenant at the Passover Seder of the Last Supper the night He was betrayed and went on to redeem you out of the bondage of sin to the promised land of GLORY. Do you know about the cups of wine that are part of the celebration of the memorial of the Passover by which I redeemed My people out of slavery to shepherd them into the promised land? They are fulfilling My promise of sanctification, deliverance and redemption unto My own possession.
“I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage. I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. Then I will take you for My people, and I will be your God; and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. I will bring you to the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you for a possession; I am the LORD.” Exodus 6:6-8.
The first three cups of the Passover Seder, and the third became the blood of Jesus at the Last Supper and has ever since been the exalted cup of redemption that fills you with the cleansing blood of Christ. The names of the cups tell what I am filling them with.
- The Cup of Sanctification – “I will bring you out”
- The Cup of Deliverance -“I will deliver you”
- The Cup of Redemption – “I will redeem you”
- The Cup of Praise – “I will take you for My people”
The cups are drunk in the following order throughout the seder:
- Drink 1st Cup with Kiddush (at the start of the seder).
- Drink 2nd Cup after the Maggid (after telling of the original Passsover story).
- Drink 3rd Cup after Birkat Hamazon (after the meal).
- Drink 4th Cup after Hallel (after singing the Psalms of praise).
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.
When I bring you out of the slavery of sin by putting all your sins on Jesus, I make you righteous in Jesus with My own righteousness, sinless in My sight. I deliver you from darkness to light and sanctify you and set you apart as a holy vessel. And then I give you redemption, the forgiveness of your sins by His blood, and wash you of every stain of defilement. So do you see what I fill your cup with?
But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:30-31.
You are filled up with Jesus and the one who feeds on Him has eternal life. Your cup overflows with My life and it stirs your heart to sing. And a spirit song comes out. Here is one I just heard from one whose heart is stirred by My provision and love. You know that I am listening and before a word is on your tongue I know the whole of what is in your heart. I am looking across the world at hearts to be with those whose hearts are turned towards Me.
Filled with goodness, filled with love, I gaze on You, my everlasting love, for you alone are joy and peace, you give me all with love that will never cease. How kind, how gracious, LORD, you are, giving shalom to those near and far, blessing our lives with abundance and love, every good thing that comes down from your throne above. Seated with Christ at your right hand, loving your goodness for you understand all that our hearts are longing for and you fill up our cup forevermore. I love you LORD, my joy, my peace, each day my wonder in you does increase, you are goodness, you are love, you lift me up to your throne as you make Your heart my very own. Filled with your glory I live in you in ever flowing supply and goodness too, what honor, what love, you have shown me and your kindness won’t cease for eternity.
That is the way the psalms you find in My Word were born: in hearts that bubbled over as their cups within overflowed.
My heart overflows with a good theme; I address my verses to the King; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer. Psalm 45:1.
The word “overflows” is translated from the Hebrew word “rachash (רָחַשׁ),” which means to gush, to move, to stir, to boil, to utter. רָחַשׁ conveys the inner movement of the heart that wells up and overflows into spoken praise. This is the only time I use this word in the Bible. It is the irrepressible surge, like a spring that cannot be held back, moving the heart from inward devotion to articulate proclamation, illustrating a spontaneous Spirit-impelled eruption of praise. I label this Psalm as a “love song” and this is the Psalm in which I tell you that the Messiah, Jesus, is anointed with the oil of joy above all. Psalm 45:7. Let your heart become a well spring bubbling up to eternal life as you drink in the living water of My Spirit that Jesus died and rose to give you. To effectively preach My Word and sing songs from Heaven your words must come from an inner stirring so that proclamation springs from a genuine encounter with me and directs the hearts of those who hear you toward the beauty of My provision for you in Christ, allowing the Spirit to pour in the overflow.
I think you are beginning to see with what I fill your cup so it overflows and takes you into My house all the days of your life and all eternity. Yes, My glory. When My glory appears, you joy is full. Jesus prayed I would share His glory with you and I have. He is My glory in you.
For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves. 2 Corinthians 4:6-7.
My glory is My goodness manifested among you eradicating evil. Evil cannot stand in the glory. It falls to the ground and cannot rise. When the guards came seeking Jesus to arrest Him and He identified Himself (“I am”) they fell to the ground but I permitted them to rise so Christ could walk out your salvation. But when the glory falls in a place it takes away entrance to the evil one and if it fills a place continually the evil one has no access at all, as it is in My Kingdom which is lit by My glory.
While Jesus walked in the glory no one could harm Him. He walked through the midst of evil unseen and unscathed. But when Jesus permitted the darkness to come that night because He, in the hour in the garden of Gethsemane, had taken all your sins on Himself, into his flesh, He told those who took Him captive it was their hour of darkness. He told Pilate His Kingdom was not in that place of evil where Pilate and the Sanhedrin stood. Darkness took over in that place where evil was punished in My Son and irradicated from those who would believe and be baptized into Christ and clothed in Him.
As He, the King of Glory, hung as sin upon the cross the world was covered in darkness by an eclipse of the sun. All creation mourned the sin and the death of the One in whom everything that was made was made. But in that darkness the power of sin was broken, the battle was won, finished, and done. The glory would roll back in by an earthquake that shook that hill and rent the veil in the temple in two opening your way, by a new and living way, to the glory of the Holy of Holies. I was coming forth in Christ in glory.
Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered, and let those who hate Him flee before Him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish before God. Psalm 68:1-2.
Fill your life with My glory—with the goodness, the freedom, the beauty, the light—and darkness cannot overcome it.
Jesus had to lay His glory aside to become sin for you for the darkness to overtake Him, but that is done now. He is glorified and you were glorified with Him.
For those whom he knew before, he also ordained before to be fashioned to the image of his Son, so that he may be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, those whom he appointed before, them he also called; and whom he called, them he also justified; and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we say then to these things? If God is on our side, who can be against us? Romans 8:29-31.
So with what does your cup overflow? GLORY. The glory I gave you before the world began in Christ. I clothed you in glory and honor, light as with a cloak, but Adam and Eve turned to the darkness of sin and the glory left them and naked they became.
When you walk in the glory, evil cannot touch you. Think of Joseph, son of Jacob, evil was targeted against him but it never penetrated the glory he walked in with Me. The glory just kept promoting him through all the darkness until he walked only in the light.
I fill you up with My glory. I am the Father of glory. Arrested by My glory, it overflows in praise, love, gratitude and assurance of My love, care, and provision. If you stay full of My glory everytime evil tries to come back, the glory will drive it out. The glory repels and annihilates evil. That is the way I will fill your cup and cover the earth with the knowledge of My glory, it will wipe out evil.
You who are baptized into Christ are clothed with Christ and He is clothed in glory and beauty as your great High Priest and so are you as His priest sons, Exodus 28:2, 40. The tabernacle of Moses was a place where I could meet with the sons of Isreal and it was consecrated by My glory. Exodus 29:43.
My glory lights Heaven, evil cannot enter there. Fill your cup with My glory and no evil can enter or come near your tent. How do you stay, live, and rest in My glory? Christ is My glory and He is My Word. Moses face became radiant when he had stayed in My presence hearing My Words. Keep your eyes on Jesus who is My Word made flesh, now glorified and exalted, and get filled with My Word and then My Spirit fills you and the well spring leaps up deep from within you.
It starts with getting filled by recognizing My goodness when it flows into your life filling up your cup until it overflows (don’t be like the barren bush in the desert that never sees good when it comes) and then a song of praise erupts from the love that fills your cup with glory.
I love you. THE GLORY BEGINS TO ROLL IN WITH THE RECOGNITION OF MY PROVISION—knowledge of the sanctification, deliverance, and redemption with which I am filling your cup and that I have taken you as My own to care for, love, and cherish forever. And that becomes resurrection joy that no one can take from you.
