So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia and from there they sailed to Cyprus. Acts 13:4.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
If you follow the lead of the Holy Spirit every time He tugs at your heart, then your life will become very exciting and filled with wonderful adventures right where you are. You must learn, however, how to be led.
It is a matter of becoming alert to My movement in your spirit. Remember Adam and Eve heard the sound as I walked in the garden in the cool of the day and knew that I was there to fellowship with them. Genesis 3:8. Later they no longer were aware when I came to them and I lost that time of fellowship. It grieved My heart.
You too can grieve the Holy Spirit by being deaf to His voice, to His songs in your spirit, to His guidance and leading as you go through your day. The more worldly your language and thoughts become the more insensitive you will become to My Holy Spirit. The more focused you become on outward circumstances and the more you read and listen to godless newspapers, books, and shows that not only do not acknowledge Me but promote values and activities contrary to My teachings, the more insensitive you become to the leadings of the Holy Spirit. The more you lean on your own understanding and reason everything in your own mind, the more you will reject the leadings of the Holy Spirit and when He does give you a direction you will discount it as a foolish thought. If you make all your own decisions by what seems good to you without seeking input from Me and My Word the more insensitive you become to the leading of the Holy Spirit. And of course the more angry, resentful, unforgiving, sarcastic, greedy, lustful, obscene, malicious, immoral, or fearful you become the more unaware you become of the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit.
If you do not spend time each day in reading the Bible, which contains My Words to you (My very thoughts as revealed by My Spirit to those sensitive to My voice), you will not be able to receive from Me by My Spirit. This is because He will speak to you and lead you by My Word. He reminds you of all I have said to you and opens your mind to understand what I have spoken. But if you never read My Word or are unfamiliar with it there is not much He can remind you of.
The Holy Spirit guides you to all truth, which is My Word. Everything was made by My Word, including you, and there is no other foundation upon which you can build your life and there is no other way that you will learn My ways.
Adam was aware of Me and sensitive to My Spirit when he visited with Me and received My Word everyday. But when he stopped listening to and obeying My Word, he hid from Me rather than running to Me. And after that he lost his life in the spirit and lived his life only in the flesh. And the person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from My Spirit but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:14.
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers and many “believers,” so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is My exact image. And how does Satan blind people? By stealing the Word out of their hearts or choking it off by the cares, lusts, and distractions of this world. My Son warned you of this in the parable of the Sower and the seed which fell on different types of ground. If you receive the imperishable seed of My Word into your heart and through faith and patience allow it to take root and grow (you cultivate it and water it with My Word as you continue to grow in your knowledge of My Word by meditating on it, speaking it and doing it), it will yield thirty, sixty and even a hundredfold depending upon the measure of attention and application you give to it.
And how is it you become fruitful, wise, and able to do all things I call you to do? By being led by My Holy Spirit so that you walk in the life of good deeds I prepare for you in advance. But you will miss opening all the right doors and walking along the right paths if you do not follow the lead of My Holy Spirit in your spirit.
Once you have become familiar with My ways by spending time with Me in prayer, the reading of Scriptures, and listening to anointed preaching and teaching, you will begin to know how to hear from Me and have the witness of My Holy Spirit with your spirit. You also become easy to lead. Your spirit is so alive and well fed that it is strong and is able to discern the promptings of My Spirit within you. It almost becomes as strong as the pull of migrating birds to their destination or a homing pigeon to its place of assignment. You feel the tug and the pull to do something, often highly different than what you were planning on doing or where you were planning on going at that time, and you are uneasy and feel disobedient if you do not respond. Your conscience will not let you rest until you have done as the prompting has led you. But if you are not used to acting on leadings of My Spirit yet you can check to see if it really is My Spirit tugging on and impelling you in that direction or it is just a desire of your flesh. One way to be sure is that it has to be something that blesses another and that you would not think up on your own to please a selfish desire. For it is love that impels you and leads you when you are led by My Spirit.
These leadings are special blessings. Long term assignments may come in a different manner or they may begin in this way. There are many times that I actually speak a particular Word of direction to you by My Spirit, like when My Spirit told Philip to catch up with the chariot of the Ethiopian official or when My Spirit told Peter to go with the three men that Cornelius had sent to bring Peter to Cornelius’ home to preach the Gospel. My Spirit even gave Ananias the exact location where he was to go to baptize and cure Paul (then Saul) after Paul had encountered Jesus in the vision on his way to Damascus.
You may also be enlightened by My Spirit by a Word of knowledge or of wisdom. A revelation of things you would not otherwise know. The gifts of the Spirit are distributed to every person as My Spirit directs for the benefit of all.
Begin to follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit that I send to you. When you feel the tug on your heart or feel compelled to head in a certain direction or to go to a certain place or meeting, or not to do a certain thing or head in a certain direction, do not quench the Spirit by reasoning the leading away. Follow the lead and see what develops. Your path gets brighter as you walk along it until you reach the perfect day.
And when you become sensitive and follow the lead of My Spirit in your spirit it will always result in something that will bring a blessing. For all are blessed by one who loves.
So get on the Holy Highway, for it is for those with a journey to make, and enter Zion singing. Read the Book of Acts, and you will find that the members of the early church were very sensitive to the lead and direction of the Holy Spirit and that by living life like that they were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Acts 13:52. They knew the comfort of the Holy Spirit. Acts 9:31. And when you begin to be sensitive to My Holy Spirit in you and learn to be led by Him and to receive His input in everything in your life, you will find such joy, peace, assurance, and comfort that you will never again want to live any other way.
I love you. Lean not on your own understanding but be mindful of My Spirit in you and on you at every moment of your day and night. You will find you are surrounded by love like a shield.
