Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
All those who have received My Son as Lord are anointed with the anointing of the head of the Body, which is Christ, and I anointed Him with the Holy Spirit with the oil of joy, and each of you have that anointing to give you strength, for My joy is your strength. But, just as Jesus did, you each also have an individual anointing for your special assignment in which you operate skillfully.
As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 2:10-11.
The anointing is the Holy Spirit in you and on you pouring out wisdom, ability, skill, and power. The anointing purifies you for Kingdom living even now and puts the “super” on your “natural.”
Being filled with the Holy Spirit is operating in the anointing. It enables you to witness and to do mighty deeds. From the anointing flows healing. Remember how the power to heal flowed out from My Son? People merely needed to reach out and touch Him with faith and they could receive healing. He was indwelt by the Holy Spirit without measure because He kept My Word.
For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure. John 3:34.
My Son sent you the Holy Spirit to be in you and on you. He told you that you would do the works He did and greater. How? By the anointing, that is the Holy Spirit living in you and moving on you.
The anointing flows My life, that is, grace into you and upon you. And grace makes you a partaker of My divine nature enabling you to do great things in perfect love and purity of intention. It will propel you along the path of good deeds I prepared uniquely for you in advance.
Jesus opened the scroll of Isaiah in the synagogue at Nazareth and located Himself by His anointing in the passage He read.
And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the scroll and found the place where it was written, “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favorable year of the LORD.” And He closed the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” Luke 4:17-21.
Similarly, John the Baptist located Himself by His anointing in a passage from Isaiah.
This is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent to him priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” And he confessed and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.” They asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” And he said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.” Then they said to him, “Who are you, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?” He said, “I am a voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the LORD,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.” John 1:19-23.
I located Mary’s anointing in a prophecy of Isaiah for Joseph her husband and thus assured Joseph of My hand in all this and he shared that anointing with her and it held him in purity as well.
“But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.” And Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife, but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus. Matthew 1:20-25.
Every one of you can find your anointing in Scripture and thus know your assignment. It goes all the way back to the beginning when I conceived you all in My heart on the sixth day of creation. It is the anointing to be fruitful by taking dominion over the works of My hands, over the whole earth and all that is in it. You are empowered to prosper and to bless everyone in the earth with fruit that endures.
But You have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox;I have been anointed with fresh oil. And my eye has looked exultantly upon my foes, my ears hear of the evildoers who rise up against me. The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree, he will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still yield fruit in old age; they shall be [l]full of sap and very green, to declare that the Lord is upright. Psalm 92:10-11.
And you are all anointed by My Spirit with the anointing of the oil of joy to seal you in strength to mount up on eagles’ wings. You are anointed and appointed to rejoice in Me always, to pray (communicate) with Me without ceasing, and to give constant and consistent thanks. The voice of thanksgiving works wonders showing great power in eradicating evil and causing the anointing to freely flow.
If you recall, when I first spoke to Moses about anointing it was done with anointing oil (made with fragrant spices and olive oil, I gave Moses the recipe, Exodus 30:22-29) to consecrate, that is, to set apart as holy and dedicated to My service, the priests, their vestments, and all the furnishings in My dwelling place, the meeting tent, the first church. The oil was actually poured on the priest’s head and all over the altar, the tabernacle, the utensils, the furnishings. The anointing made the anointed holy, dedicated to sacred purpose, and able to convey holiness.
I also had My prophets anoint men to be kings. Samuel anointed Saul, and later David, to be king. David had a deep respect for the anointing and refused to harm Saul, even though Saul sought to kill David because Saul had been anointed as king.
When Samuel anointed David the Holy Spirit rushed upon him from that day forward. 1 Samuel 16:13. My Spirit had come upon Saul and Samson also, but My Spirit later left them. 1 Samuel 16:14; Judges 16:20. Why? Disobedience, rebellion, sin, lust, and jealousy.
My prophets had the anointing. The Holy Spirit was upon them. But prophets did not need to be anointed with oil to operate in the anointing. They were clothed in it from on high. This was symbolized by the mantle (cloak) of the prophet. Remember when Elijah anointed Elisha he threw his mantle over him? 1 Kings 19:19. And when Elijah went up in the fiery chariot, the mantle of Elijah fell upon Elisha. 2 Kings 2:13.
The Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus at His baptism in the Jordan and remained with him. John 1:32. And when you are baptized in Christ, you are clothed in Christ. Galatians 3:27. You are clothed in that anointing. Jesus, when He ascended back to Me in Heaven, told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they were clothed with power from on High. He told them that they would be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
I anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power and He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil. Acts 10:38. I anointed Him to preach the good news, to heal, to give sight to the blind, to release captives. Luke 4:18.
I think you can see from this that the anointing has a purpose. It is not just to make you feel good, although it does that too, but it is to make your life fruitful. Those that operate in the anointing bear much fruit for My Kingdom. When you are anointed, it flows out from you, and everyone whose life you touch is blessed. Look at Jesus, not one person came to Him that did not leave blessed and made whole.
You will see this when you study the lives of those who have operated with the anointing. Elisha blessed and made the lives of so many beautiful—Naaman, the man cured of leprosy, the Shunammite woman and her son, the widow with the creditor after her who was going to take her children as slaves that he started on a prosperous business of her own, and many other instances showing the power of the anointing to work miracles through those who yield to the Holy Spirit. The same was true of so many of My prophets. And what you must realize is these were operating under the Old Covenant before Jesus had died on the Cross and sent the Holy Spirit back to dwell again in the spirits of men. So under the Old Covenant they were not indwelt by My Spirit but only received the Holy Spirit acting upon them but not in them.
Now, under the New Covenant, sealed with Me by the Blood of My Son, all the promises of the Old are still continued in it but there is now eternal life and the Holy Spirit dwelling in the born again spirit of each believer. No longer do you need to seek out a prophet to be blessed by the anointing, you each have the anointing within you, giving life to your mortal body, Romans 8:11, and imparting wisdom, skill, and power to you to operate in His gifts and to know all things.
I have given you My Spirit and the Name of Jesus. And by this I have given you the mind of Christ, which is the mind of the anointed one. Do you understand what I am saying here? You have the same Holy Spirit in you that He did. And when He opened His mission in that synagogue in Nazareth He read from the Book of the prophet Isaiah: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, He has anointed Me . . .” You have that same anointing to know My Words and My Works as Jesus did, for the Spirit searches out and knows My deepest thoughts and reveals them to you. 1 Corinthians 2:9-16. That is how Jesus could speak My Words and do My Works. You can do the same for the anointing teaches you all things and reveals My thoughts to you.
So you have everything you need to live a powerful, beautiful, wonderful life. Why not begin today? You have the anointing if you have taken My Son as your Lord, you just need to begin using it. As you operate in it, it will just get stronger and stronger in you. You can step into the glorious existence that the early church experienced in great signs and wonders.
ut why should I increase your anointing (grace upon grace) if you are not going to use it for the good of yourself and others? You do not need more anointing if you are not witnessing for Me or doing good in the lives of people around you.
I have anointed you and sealed you with the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 1:21. Why? Because I have appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain. John 15:16. As I sent Jesus, so He sends you. The anointing enables you to live fruitful, joyful lives that will bear witness to Me and bring many to My Kingdom. When you operate in the anointing you go about doing good and healing all who are oppressed by the devil.
And how do you keep the anointing? The same way Jesus did. He remained in My love by keeping My commandments—by acting in obedience to My Word, that is, being a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. By walking in integrity, which means walking in the light as a faithful and trustworthy steward of what I have given you, and by honoring and valuing the gift of the anointing. Those who honor Me, I will honor. 1 Samuel 2:30.
You are anointed and appointed. Go and bear fruit that will last by staying attached to the Vine. If you abide in Me and My Words abide in you, you will naturally bear fruit, much fruit.
I love you. Let Me anoint your head with oil until your cup overflows, it is too much for your earthly vessel to contain. The anointing enables you to do your assignment and pours out on all with whom you have contact.
