Now on the sixth day they gathered twice as much manna, two omers for each one. When all the leaders of the congregation came and told Moses, then he said to them, “This is what the Lord meant: Tomorrow is a sabbath observance, a holy sabbath to the Lord. Bake what you will bake and boil what you will boil, and all that is left over put aside to be kept until morning.” So they put it aside until morning, as Moses had ordered, and it did not become foul nor was there any worm in it. Moses said, “Eat it today, for today is a sabbath to the Lord; today you will not find it in the field. Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, the sabbath, there will be none.” Exodus 16:22-26.
Instead of your shame you will have a double portion, And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land, everlasting joy will be theirs. Isaiah 61:7
As for you also, because of the blood of My covenant with you, I have set your prisoners free from the waterless pit. Return to the stronghold, O prisoners of hope; this very day I am declaring that I will restore double to you. Zechariah 9:9-12
Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:
The BLESSING of the double portion– are you looking for the double? Entering My rest is dependent on the double portion. I commanded the rest, the Shabbat, for My people Israel and on the morning before the Shabbat I gave them a double portion of manna so that they would not have to toil for it once they had entered the rest.
And the portion of the first-born was the double. The first born received the double portion of the inheritance. Deuteronomy 21:17. And you are the Body of Christ, the Body of the First-Born. And yours is the double portion. The church of the first-born—”you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.” Hebrews 12:22-24.
I give you the double. Look for it. And it comes so you can enter My rest. I rested on the seventh day from all My works of creation because all was created that would provide everything you would ever need for physical life and spiritual life. All the elements in the amount that would be sufficient for all time were in the earth and seed for everything to reproduce, replenish, grow and sustain was in the earth and all the universe was in place and it would continue to expand by the Light unleashed from Me, the basic substance of all is the life that comes out of Me, life for the Light of men. And I made man at the end of the completion of creation to enter the rest with Me of letting all creation work for him as he cared for and cultivated it. In the rest you do fruitful work, I am at work till now and My Son as well, but it is work from rest. It is not toilsome labor where you are enslaved by the creation that was to serve you. It is a creative energy that flows into a life of beauty, majesty, and great exploits of the magnitude of signs, wonders and miracles for the benefit of all.
But man stepped out of the rest he had with Me into a world system run by the adversary where he became enslaved by the works of My hands instead of ruling things—always running after what he would eat, drink and wear. He refused to enter My rest but instead sought to run things without Me. But you can do nothing without Me. Your very breath is from Me.
The Israelites I redeemed from slavery in Egypt refused, as Adam did, to enter and stay in My rest. And this was because though they had seen My mighty works of deliverance by signs, wonders, and miracles, they did not understand My ways. My ways are love and truth. Chesed and emet. But they did not trust Me and instead accused Me of planning harm for them. This caused them to fear, as Adam did when he hid from Me when he had left My rest, and they refused to follow My Words, which would have given them rest from their enemies on every side. I told them of the cities, houses filled with good things, vineyards, wells and lands I would give them without cost or labor if they would go into the promised land and face the giants there with an assured victory with My angel clearing the way, but they had no faith in My Words and refused to enter My dominion rest. They called it seeing things as they were, but I called it disobedience. But their unbelief did not cancel out the BLESSING of entering My rest, it was still open if they would take it; and that rest still remains for those who choose to believe My promises and take hold of them in Christ Jesus.
Therefore, since My rest remains open to you, and those who formerly had the good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience to My Word, I again fix a certain day for you to enter and it is “Today,” saying through My servant David after so long a time later and just as it was said before and is said to you now, “Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”
Now you may be saying that the children of the disobedient, who died in the desert as they foretold, did enter the Promised Land, but they did not remain in My rest but went after other gods, just read the book of Judges. And if Joshua had given them rest, I would not have spoken of another day after that. So there remains a Sabbath rest for My people to enter with Me that is fulfilled in Jesus. And it comes with the double portion. And that is the portion of the first-born, of Jesus and those in Him. For the one who has entered My rest has himself also rested from his works, as I did from Mine, meaning everything was in motion to work for you as you cultivated it. Therefore, be diligent to enter into that rest, to go into shalom, the peace beyond all understanding where mountains move, storms cease and bodies are healed at your word as the kings and priests I have made you in My Son, who brings you back to your dominion authority to guard and cultivate the works of My hands which I gave you to rule over. And do not do fall from grace by following the example of disobedience set by Adam and so many others, including the Israelites that I redeemed from the slavery of Egypt, but I never got them to renew their minds from the slavery mentality.
And how do you enter My rest? By faith. And the spirit of faith is to believe My Words, My promises, in your heart and speak them with your mouth. Like Caleb and Joshua did. For My Word is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from My sight, but all things are open and laid bare to My eyes, and it is to Me you must account. You will give account for every idle word you speak, for you were created to rule and restore, to heal and replenish, by your words. It is by your words you will be acquitted and by your worlds you will be condemned. It is all a matter of what you believe in your heart and speak with your mouth. And you can control that if you are diligent in renewing your mind to My Word. I send down My Word to you so that you can think as I do and do the works Jesus did and greater by My Word and the Holy Spirit. And I have given you both in Jesus, the High Priest of your confession (homologia—speaking the same in agreement with Him). It takes two to establish a fact. You and Jesus, who is My Word.
Therefore, since you have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus My Son and your Lord, Savior and brother, hold fast to your confession of faith. Be diligent about speaking the result you want, not the circumstances you see. Learn a lesson from the Israelites who spoke stout against Me and never entered My rest. For you do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with your weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as you are, yet without sin. I have given Jesus to you that you might live through Him. And He never spoke anything but My Words. Therefore draw near with confidence to My throne of grace, so that you may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Keep your eyes on Jesus and you will have the light of life. And no follower of His will ever walk in darkness. And where does He lead you? Into the rest. “The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want, He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside restful, healing waters. He restores my soul.” Psalm 23:1-3. Sounds like My rest. Come to Him, the stone which the builders rejected that has become your cornerstone, and He will give you rest.
I love you. Be diligent to enter My rest. Work to enter the rest. And your work? Jesus told you: Therefore they said to Him, “What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?” and Jesus replied, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” John 6:28-29.
