“I love You, O LORD, my strength.” The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. Psalm 18:1-3.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:
I am the LORD who delivers you. I am your Deliverer. And I mean that. I cannot lie. David called Me his Deliverer and though his afflictions were many, I delivered him out of them ALL.
Now I want to show you how you obtain supernatural deliverance from Me in all your troubles. Remember Paul underwent many trials and much persecution, but I delivered him out of them all. Supernatural deliverance. David constantly praised Me for deliverance. Daniel and his friends were confident of deliverance, whether it be a fiery furnace or a lions’ den. Elijah had no fear of famine, he knew I would see to his supply. Elisha called on Me for a 24-hour miracle of provision. Hezekiah called on Me and saw Me wipe out the majority of an army encamped against him by one of My angels. Jehoshaphat cried out to Me and I brought down three enemy armies before him with no fighting on his part. The early church cried out to Me and I sent My angel to deliver Peter out of jail and execution. Paul called Me in and I save him and everyone on board from death in a shipwreck. Moses and the Israelites called on Me as Pharaoh’s army pursued them and I parted the Red Sea and drown their enemies who tried to pursue them through the parted sea. Samson cried out to Me and I restored his strength and gave him the victory just as he requested. The blind beggar cried out to My Son and he was delivered from blindness. And I could go on and on with deliverance from sickness, disability, death, danger, evil men, enemy armies, famine, peril, lying witnesses, and storms.
I promised you that I am faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but I deliver them out of them all. Psalm 34:19. Chains fall off, prison doors open, oceans part, rivers roll back, captives are freed, armies are turned away in defeat, bread and fish multiply, enemies become your source of provision and promotion, weapons formed against you fall to the ground, walls come down, sins are forgiven, lost goods are restored, sight is restored to the blind, lepers are cleansed, people are raised from the dead, and extraordinary wonders of provision are supplied just when all seems lost. I am your Deliverer, an ever-present help in time of trouble. Nothing is too wonderful for Me.
Do you remember what I told Moses when I spoke to him from the burning bush on Mt. Horeb (Sinai)? “I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings. So I have come down to deliver them from the power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey.” Exodus 3:7-8.
I not only deliver you out of something but then I deliver something good into your hands. I never just deliver you and leave you empty and alone. I deliver you out to take you in. I deliver you out of the dominion of darkness and transfer you to the Kingdom of My Beloved Son, in whom you have redemption, the forgiveness of your sins by His blood. I take you out of the land of slavery into the promised land. I take you out of Satan and into Jesus. But there is a part you must do and you will see it in all My mighty works of deliverance.
I want you to see the pattern. David sang, “I sought the LORD and He answered me and delivered me from ALL my fears.” Psalm 34:4. And again, “This poor man cried and the LORD heard him and saved him out of ALL his troubles.” Psalm 34:6. “O LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me.” Psalm 30:2. And remember Jonah, when fleeing from doing his divine assignment was tossed to the bottom of the sea about to drown, and what did he do? “I called out of my distress to the LORD and He answered me, I cried for help from the depths of sheol and You heard my voice.” Jonah 2:2. And I gave him a most strangely wonderful deliverance and put him right back on track for his destiny, delivered to the very place he should have been. And you see he was approaching hell as he called. Even on your way to hell it is not too late to call on the Name above every other Name and be saved (delivered, rescued, placed on high). Wherever you are, I am with you and hear your cry. Psalm 139:7-12. And when I hear you, you know you have what you have called upon My Name for. 1 John 5:14-15. But YOU must give Me the authority, the honor, the permission, to enter your life and deliver you, to save you. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth, that is the spirit of faith. Grace makes it but faith takes it. The faith, cry, and rely (FCR) response. It should be your first response to trouble.
Do you see the pattern? Just read Exodus 14:10, Exodus 8:12, Exodus 14:15, Exodus 15:25; and Exodus 17:4. They cried to Me and I answered with deliverance. The Israelites know to do it all through the wilderness. They had learned in Egypt, remember? They cried to Me and I came down to deliver them with strong arm. Just look through the Psalms, you will find time after time that the psalmist is calling upon Me to see a mighty work. Look at the prophets and you will see over and over, “cry out to the LORD.” Look at those who were healed in the Gospels, and you will find the pattern that they were calling on Jesus, remember blind Bartimaeus? Remember the ten lepers?
When you are in trouble, when you need deliverance, when you are about to perish or lose it all, when you are in a storm, when you are in distress, when others have come against you, when you are being oppressed—what do you do? You seek Me by calling on My Name, by crying out to Me with loud voice, and I hear and answer and deliver you with My mighty hand. I should not be the last one you call to; I should be the very first one. First words matter the most.
My arm is not too short to save. You must call upon Me so I can come down and rescue you. I knock at the door, call Me in. That is all I need to save you, to heal you, to deliver you, to snatch you away from the wiles of the evil one and the fires of hell—just one cry from your heart in faith! That is all I need. The cry of faith. The prayer of faith. And it is confident of answer. David knew when he called upon Me, I answered and delivered him from all destruction. Just read Psalm 18. He knew Me as his deliverer and the lifter of his head. And how did he call? With loud voice but he made that the voice of thanksgiving! Just like Jehoshaphat and like Paul and Silas. David sang, “In praise I will call on the LORD and I am saved from my enemies.” Psalm 18:3.
Look to Me and you will not be ashamed, you shall be radiant. So great a salvation, I even send angels to minister to you who are heirs of Salvation, of Yeshuah. My angel encamps around those who fear Me to deliver them. Psalm 34:7. Elisha saw it on the hills outside his dwelling, myriads of angels ready for battle on his behalf. You have the same, it only takes one cry in faith and the action can begin. But if you don’t cry, there is nothing they can do for you. Don’t just call 911, call on My Son. When you call, I answer you. Jeremiah 33:3. Many have lost all because they did not call.
In My Word you see many times that I deliver and My title of the Deliverer. What you do not realize in the translation from Hebrew that in Hebrew these are not all the same word, though you see them so in the English translation. I have many words I use that not only translate deliver but show you what kind of deliverance.
There is the Hebrew word, “natsal,” which means to strip, plunder, be delivered, snatch away, deliver. This is the word I use when I told Moses I would deliver the people from Egyptian slavery. David used this word when he sang that I had delivered him from the hand of Saul. I also used this same word when I told Moses My people would not go out from Egypt empty handed but all treasures of the Egyptians would be delivered into the hands of the Israelites.
Then there is the Hebrew word, “palat,” which means to escape. And this is the word David sang when he called Me his deliverer in Psalm 18:2. I give you an escape. Like through the Red Sea or opening prison gates or holding lions’ jaws.
Also you see the word “magan,” of which the noun form means “shield.” I deliver you by shielding you. And Jesus is your deliverer who shields you (delivers you) from the wrath to come.
Deliverer. Have to call. How? There are several words used in Hebrew, particularly “qarah,” which means to call, proclaim, read aloud to yourself or others, and to make a loud sound. There is “tsaaq, which means to call on the name of another, to cry out for help. And there is “shava,” which means to cry out for help, shout, for freedom from trouble.
And then there is “ranah” or “ron” and “rua” and “teruya,” which are ringing cries, loudly shouted, with praise and thanksgiving. The voice of the thanksgiving. I told Moses to even blow silver trumpets when they were attacked by the adversary so that they would be remembered before Me and be saved from their enemies. Numbers 10:9. Make a loud shout. It is the cry of the overcomer. It is the cry of faith. And by My Word in your mouth and the cry of faith you can turn any situation around.
So what is your first response to trouble? To fear? To feel shame and blame? To retreat and give in? NO. That is not what you learned in My Word or who you are in Christ Jesus. When the poor man (afflicted, weak, no merits, cannot do it on his own, trapped in sin) calls upon the Name of Jesus, he is saved, and becomes one to be welcomed at My throne and when he seeks Me by crying out to Me, I answer him and deliver him from ALL his fears. Perfect love casts out fear. When you know the Almighty loves you and gave His Son to save and deliver you, you know I will give you all things with Him besides. Deliverance is yours, you have only to call upon Me to take it for your own.
I love you. Start thinking of Me not as your Judge but as your Deliverer. I am salvation in every situation. That is why I gave you Jesus, so you could live your life through Him. Faith, cry, rely. Proclaim the deliverance before you see it and watch it come to pass. But cry to Me and make Me the power in the process. David said when he called to Me, praise was always on the tip of his tongue. No fear. Remember, no matter what your past is it is your future that is important. I can deliver you from your past. Just call on Me.
