Do not fear little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom. Luke 12:32.
Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. Mathew 7:13-14.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:
The treasures of the little flock. Do not fear, do not fret, do not worry, little flock, it has pleased Me to give you the Kingdom and in the Kingdom is everything you need and far more. The Kingdom is a never-ending source of supply of everything that is good, pleasing, and perfect. It is the place of My perfect will and I am love, I am peace, and I am light.
Now if you are wise you will make every effort to be one of the “little flock” to whom I have given the Kingdom. So consider what it means so you can be sure that you are included, for I have told you to seek the Kingdom and all the things you need will be added to you.
First, you see I refer to those who are so favored as a “flock.” A flock belongs to a shepherd. And Jesus Himself has told you who the great good Shepherd is, “I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.” John 10:14-15. And He came to bring abundant life to His flock and to give them His joy and His peace. “For thus says the Lord (Adonai) LORD (Yahweh), ‘Behold, I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. As a shepherd seeks and cares for his sheep in the day when he is among his scattered flock, so I will seek out and care for My flock and will deliver them from all the places to which they were scattered on a cloudy and gloomy day.’” Ezekiel 34:11-12. My Son and I are One. “The LORD is my shepherd there is nothing I shall want.” Psalm 23:1.
And in case you are unsure that sheep refers to you and Shepherd to Me I make it quite clear for you in My Word, “As for you, My sheep, the sheep of My pasture, you are men, and I am your God,” declares the Lord (Adonai) LORD (Yahweh).” Ezekiel 34:31.
In Song of Songs the beloved bride is seeking to find where I pasture My flock, she sings, “Tell me, O You whom my soul loves, where do You pasture your flock, where do You make it lie down at noon? For why should I be like one who veils herself beside the flocks of Your companions?” Song of Songs 1:7. “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:3-4. “But whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:16-18.
Sheep without a shepherd wander and are easy prey for wolves and predators. “They were scattered for lack of a shepherd, and they became food for every beast of the field and were scattered.” Ezekiel 34:5. Sheep need a shepherd to lead them, feed them, care for them, protect them, and defend them, one who will give his life for them. And I, the God of peace, have brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, Jesus your Lord. Hebrews 13:20-21. And He gave His life to give you eternal abundant beautiful life.
So first you qualify to be in the flock if you have received My Son as your Lord and Shepherd and have determined to follow Him. In Him, there is no longer any condemnation on you because He took your sins and received the sentence of condemnation for you and your sins are no longer yours but His and I took care of them on Him. So since He has given you all He is and has, and is still ever interceding for you, you can entrust your life to your good Shepherd and know He will always save you and never leave you. He leaves the 99 who have not wandered to go after the one who wandered away to save that one and bring that one back into the fold.
But you will note that it is not the entire flock of which I am speaking but a “little” flock, sort of an inner circle of a larger group. Who is in that “little” flock? How do you make sure you are one of the little ones?
The word there that is translated “little,” in the original Greek in which it was written is “mikros,” which means small, little, less, least. So there are few in number compared to the vast multitude in the world that are in this precious flock. Look where I talk about few and least and you will find your answers.
My Son, through whom I speak to you, told you, “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Mathew 7:13-14. Few find that little gate and narrow way that leads to life. Of what am I speaking? The narrow way of praise and thanksgiving. The way of rejoicing always, praying without ceasing and giving constant thanks, which is My will for you in Christ Jesus. The way of casting all your cares on Me because I care for you. The way of being anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving letting your requests be made known to Me. The way of thanking Me for the answer when you pray even before it manifests in your life. The way of complete trust based on faith in My goodness and love for you. Even among believers there are few who walk this road, the way that I call the Highway of Holiness, where you enter Zion (the place of grace) shouting and singing with joy. Isaiah 35:8-10. Do you trust My Word enough to sing in the middle of your trouble of the good result and victory you are about to experience? I am present as your helper, your deliverer, your healer, your provider, your redeemer, and your good Shepherd. You have nothing to fear. So stop the worry and the fear if you want to enter the narrow way that few find that leads to life and gives you the Kingdom even now.
And if you look to see the context in which the promise of the Kingdom is given, you will find it is all about seeking My Kingdom and not worrying about acquiring the things of the world and basing your life upon running after those things and ignoring Me as your source. And yet many act and live as if their only source is themselves and what they do, which means they live in fear and anxiety.
So here is the context in which it is written: “Someone in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me.” But He said to him, “Man, who appointed Me a judge or arbitrator over you?” Then He said to them, “Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.” And He told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man was very productive. And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’ Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.”’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?’ So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” And He said to His disciples, “For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds! And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life’s span? If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You men of little faith! And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Luke 12:13-34.
The way of humility and service. Do not be like the unbelievers who lord it over others, their great ones make their importance felt. It cannot be like that in the little flock. The greatest one among you is the one who serves the rest, and the least among you is the greatest.
I love you. Do you want the Kingdom? Well, now you know what to do to have it: have faith in My Word, trust Me with all your heart, rejoice in hope, pray without ceasing, be filled with thanksgiving, and serve others’ needs as important as your own. And I might add if you are rejoicing and calling the victory by declaring My Word as the ultimate result you are not worrying, you are not bitter, you are not complaining, you are not angry, and you are not blaming. Great peace have those whose minds are stayed on Me because they trust in Me. Isaiah 26:3.
