Behold, God is my helper; the Lord (Adonai) is the sustainer of my soul. Psalm 54:4.
He is your praise and He is your God, who has done these great and awesome things for you which your eyes have seen. Deuteronomy 10:21.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:
Each morning give your day to Me. I mean the care of it. Ask Me to direct your paths and to keep you from stumbling. Ask Me to open the doors that lead to life and to close the ones that lead to death. Do not do things without My input. And never forget I send ministering angels to protect and help you.
I am ever present as your helper. Jesus told you I would not leave you orphans but send you the Helper to be with you and in you forever. I do not expect you to do things alone while I watch and judge your performance for the day. I did not send Jesus to judge you but to save you. And He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He even told you that when He returns, He will sit you down at the banquet table, put on an apron and serve you! He came to serve, not to be served, to give His life for you. Do you still not understand the love I have for you? The help I want to give you? The life I want to pour into you?
I do not hide My Will for your life and then judge you if you do not find it. It is I who am at work in you to Will and to do, but you do have to walk it out. I communicate with you who believe and are born again from above in your spirit. I am spirit and I talk with you spirit to spirit in your inner man of the heart. Learn My voice. You learn My voice by reading, hearing, speaking, and pondering My Word in the Bible until you hear My voice in the Word. Bind them continually on your heart; tie them around your neck. When you walk about, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk to you. For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching is light. Proverbs 6:21-23.
To receive guidance and teaching you must also pray. Prayer is our line of communication. I will tell you things in prayer. When you draw close to Me, I draw close to you. When you seek Me with your heart, you will find Me with you. I am enthroned on your songs of praise and thanksgiving. The fastest way to solutions for victory is prayer. Everything you undertake should start in prayer, continue in prayer, and end in prayer. There is a reason I tell you to pray always and not to lose heart. Prayer is a continuous exchange between us, an unceasing flow of My life into you and your life into Me so that we become one in fellowship, partnership, love, mutual respect, honor, intent, and purpose. A relationship where each holds the other precious and most valuable. A relationship where each is concerned about the other’s interests.
Many treat prayer like a one-way street. They communicate to Me what they want, what I should be doing for them, what they are unhappy about, and what they would like changed, fixed, or made new. They just beg—quite sincerely and often in tears—but they do not expect Me to answer them in any way except performing what they want, and they are unsure I will do that because that is why they keep begging and complaining and crying at Me. And when what they desire comes to pass, it is then they thank Me, but before they get what they want. And the reason they do not say “thank You” when they ask is because they are not sure I will take care of their needs. And many times they chide Me for not delivering faster. Like Gideon. But at the time he was doing that, right to My face, he had no relationship with Me, but rather he was worshipping an idol his father had built in their yard. But when we developed a relationship, everything changed in the way he spoke with Me and about Me.
And there are certain things that I tell you to pray for, so for you who love Me these should be a priority. I ask that you pray for people that they be saved and come to know the truth, for that is My heart’s desire and that is why I gave you Jesus. I ask you to pray for your leaders in government and other areas of life—those who exercise authority over others, that they may be walking in My statutes and commandments. I ask you to pray for laborers to be sent out to tell the good news of salvation and of the Kingdom to bring in a harvest of souls who would otherwise be lost. For how can they believe unless they hear My Word, and how can they hear it unless someone goes to preach and teach it? I ask you to pray for the shalom of Jerusalem. Pray for protection, recognition, salvation, and direction for the people of Jerusalem. And I tell you to pray that you not enter temptation. Luke 22:40. “Keep watching and praying that you may not come into temptation, the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” Mark 14:38.
And there is a good direction on prayer in the letter of My servant James by the inspiration of My Spirit: “Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit. My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.” James 5:13-20.
I have talked with men and women since I first created you. I blessed Adam and Eve. I walked with them in the Garden and they were listening to and answering Me at the time they had eaten the fruit from the tree I told them not to eat from or they would surely die. They were used to contact with Me. And after that, I had had many conversations with people, with Cain, and after that Noah, and then Abraham, and so on. And I tell you Enoch walked with Me, which meant he knew Me and was in agreement with Me. But the first few times prayer as petition is mentioned in the Bible is in connection with praying for the deliverance or healing of another person, not the one praying. Abraham interceded for Sodom and Gomorrah in an active exchange of conversation with Me. But the first time the word “prayer” is mentioned is when I told Abimelech to return Sarah to Abraham as follows, “Now therefore, restore the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.” Genesis 20:7. And the result? “Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his maids, so that they bore children.” Genesis 20:17.
And Abraham’s household learned to pray from him. When Abraham sent his servant to seek a bride for his son, the servant prayed asking Me to find that wife and give him a sign indicating the one He had chosen. Genesis 24:12-14.
The next mention is Isaac. I had talked to Isaac many times before this as recorded in Scripture but this is the first time I tell you he prayed and his prayer was not for himself but for his wife, “Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD answered him and Rebekah his wife conceived.” Genesis 25:21. And she not only conceived one but two, i.e., twins.
And I would call to your attention here that the first person to praise Me mentioned in the Bible is Leah, the unloved wife of Jacob. Genesis 29:35. And the next time praise is raised to My Name is in the song composed by Moses after I parted the Red Sea and then drowned Pharaoh’s army. Exodus15: 2, 11.
The next mention of prayer is when Jacob prayed for himself, asking deliverance from his brother Esau, whom he feared would harm him. Genesis 32:11. And the next time is when Moses prayed to know Me and My ways and to see My glory. Exodus 33:13, 18. And later he prayed that “If now I have found favor in Your sight, O Lord, I pray, let the Lord go along in our midst, even though the people are so obstinate, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as Your own possession.” Exodus 34:9. You will note in that prayer he called upon Adonai and not the name of LORD that I gave him on Mt. Horeb. But as Jesus verified, Moses wrote about Him. And I tell you that “By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.” Hebrews 11:24-26.
And Moses continued to pray—for mercy for the sinful nation, for the healing of Miriam when she fell into sin, for guidance, for help, for deliverance from various evils, for solutions to problems with the people, and finally for himself to see the holy mountain in the Promised Land. And I answered all of the prayers of Moses and still am. He prayed that all My people would be prophets. And that is possible now with the gift of the Holy Spirit in every believer and My Words which I have put in your mouth.
Moses is the first person in the Bible that you see pursuing to know Me better and seeking to be My intimate friend through constant prayer. Moses loved spending time with Me, he would even forget to eat or drink he was so caught up in My presence and his face became radiant when he spent time in prayer. And Joshua learned prayer from Moses and would stay whole days praying to Me in the meeting tent. Exodus 33:11.
And you will see prayer and praise in the life of My servant David beyond what had been before. And he pulled in many worshippers in his tabernacle of praise. Elijah and Elisha prayed and carried on conversations with Me constantly. And Daniel also prayed constantly and sought revelation of mysteries.
Prayer is the key to a life that is beyond the scope of the ordinary realm of the five senses and takes you to the level of the extraordinary.
Without faith, you cannot pray. It is the prayer of faith the moves mountains and opens blind eyes. Faith is a wonderful thing. It turns your life around. It fills your days with beauty and takes away your frown. It makes you into a prophet, telling the good news, that I am here among you, making all things new.
Prayer is not incantation; it is conversation with revelation.
Jesus prayed at all times. His disciples saw His wonderful prayer life and constant communication with Me that filled their days with wonders and mighty miracles. So they asked Him to instruct them on prayer, “Lord, teach us to pray.” Jesus is your great High Priest and your anointed teacher, why don’t you ask Him the same? Let Him show you the wonderful realm of prayer.
I love you. Never let go of My hand. And you take My hand in prayer.
