I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants. Deuteronomy 30:19.
“For I did not speak of Myself, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.” John 12:49-50.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:
I am the living God and all are alive to Me. I speak life. “When I passed by you and saw you squirming in your blood, I said to you while you were in your blood, ‘Live!’ Yes, I said to you while you were in your blood, ‘Live!’” Ezekiel 16:6. I sent Jesus that you might have life, and have it more abundantly. John 10:10. “God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:4-7. His eternal blood redeemed, cleansed and purified you from the blood on you from your sins. In Him, I gave you eternal life. “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” John 5:24. Choose life that you and your descendants may live.
Today we continue the series “Watch Your Words!” with Life Lesson No. 5: “Speak Life.” Be imitators of Me as My dear children and walk in love, and love speaks life. When I formed you in My image I breathed My own breath into you and you became a living, speaking spirit like Me. “The LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7. And what was the first thing I said to the man I had formed? I blessed him. “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them.” Genesis 1:27-28.
Speak life. What does that mean? I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants. Deuteronomy 30:19. Life and blessing, death and cursing. My Words are spirit and life. I have the words of everlasting life. In My Word is life. My Words are life to those who find them and health to all their flesh.
My Words are blessing words. And blessing is increase, never decrease—an increase in health, prosperity, favor, productivity, creativity, joy, wisdom, and all good things. You must speak increase. “With the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach will be satisfied; he will be satisfied with the increase of his lips.” Proverbs 18:20. “For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and I will surely multiply you.” Hebrews 6:13-14. Call in the blessing, rebuke the curse.
Speak words of blessing and you are speaking words of life.
Do all things without grumbling or disputing; so that you will become blameless and innocent, My children, above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as luminaries in the world, holding forth and holding fast the Word of life. Philippians 2:14-16. Grumbling, complaining, disputing, and blaming are never words of life, they are words of darkness and death. Only allow life words to be in your mouth. Do not even allow death words to pass your lips, get them out of your vocabulary along with all malice. Do not say, “I was scared to death,” or “I was thrilled to death,” or even, “I love her to death.” Never speak the curse. What is the curse? Sickness, disease, poverty, and eternal death. And never curse or damn anyone or anything, not even your appliances, car, or tools.
To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit; not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:8-9.
If you want blessing, you must speak blessing over yourself and others. David sang, “Bless the LORD O my soul and all my being bless His holy Name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits.” Psalm 103:1-2. Every part of you should bless and be blessed by your words. I taught Moses a blessing for Aaron the High Priest and his sons, the priesthood, to speak over the people: “Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, ‘Thus you shall bless the sons of Israel. You shall say to them: The LORD bless you, and keep you; the LORD make His face shine on you, and give you His grace. The LORD smile upon you and give you peace (shalom).’ So they shall put My name on the sons of Israel, and I then will bless them.” Numbers 6:22-27. Bless others and yourself with this beautiful blessing. Let My face shine on you and shine back, shining with joy for your maker who loves you. Say that you are Mine and I am yours and speak out your joy over that. “And though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.” 1 Peter 1:8-9.
To speak life over yourself and others you must speak what I speak over you. For I speak life. And what do I speak over you? Let Me show you from My Word. “You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.” Psalm 32:7-8. I surround you with songs of deliverance. When you feel trapped or hemmed in on every side, when you feel there is no way of escape, pick up on My songs of deliverance and praise your way out. Like Jehoshaphat, Paul, and Silas. And you and those who hear will be blessed for I bring forth My people with joy, My chosen ones with a joyful shout and joyful singing. Psalm 105:43. And I bring you out laden with silver and gold and not a feeble one among you. Psalm 105:37. Speak that instead of poverty and defeat. Words of poverty, lack, and defeat are words of the curse, that is, words of death. Do not permit yourself to speak them. That is not increase of your lips.
“The LORD your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17. I rejoice over you with singing, I quiet you with My love. Join the songs of rejoicing, speak My Words of love for you. Speak love and that is life. “You are precious in My sight and honored, and I love you.” Isaiah 43:4. Say that to yourself and others who are discouraged and feeling unloved, “I am precious in God’s sight, honored and beloved.” “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33. Speak My Words of peace, prosperity and victory. You will find many Scriptures where I assure you of these blessings. Showers of blessing. I Myself look after My sheep.
I speak peace to My people. I comfort you and quiet your fears. Just when you feel threatened and are being accused of wrongdoing, even if it is true, do not give in to fear, you are Mine, and I protect you from the strife of tongues, but you must speak out the victory, so find My Words and you will find life, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall prove false. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness and vindication are from Me,” says the LORD.” Isaiah 54:17. Declare that and you will feel the strength and confidence returning. You have spoken words of life. Prophecy is speaking encouragement, edification, exhortation, speaking words that raise up not that tear down. A word that will rouse the weary and put new hope in their hearts.
“When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul.” Psalm 94:19. You can always find a Scripture that addresses your fear or trouble at any given moment, hold fast to that and hold it forth, speak it over yourself and others, and you will find I am the living God of all comfort who hears your cries and knows your every need. But you must speak that to yourself in time of trouble. “I sought the LORD and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears.” Yes, I will give you just the right word to speak for the life you need at the moment.
Death and life are in the power of your tongue. That is an amazing truth. You control whether life or death is coming into your body and soul, your world, your workplace, your household. If you can control what you say, you can control your body. You can direct your life. Have you ever heard people use the expression that you are calling the shots? It is true. Words make you or break you. Use My Words of life so that you may live the life that is life indeed.
Now let us go back to the lesson I gave Moses where I spoke of choosing life by your words. “For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach. It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’ Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’ But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it. See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity; in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it. But if your heart turns away and you will not obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, I declare to you today that you shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess it. I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days.” Deuteronomy 30:11-20.
How do you hold fast to Me? By holding fast to My Word. I am My Word. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” John 1:1-5.
Do you see? All things come to be through My Word and apart from My Word nothing comes into being. And in My Word is life, and the life was the Light of men. Nothing but My Word can save you, make things new, and give the life that lights up your world. REFUSE TO SPEAK ANYTHING CONTRARY TO MY WORD. And then you will have a life filled with joy and glory.
Watch your Words. Death and life are in the power of your tongue. Choose life, which means choose to agree with and speak only My Words. Words of faith not fear, words of a good outcome not an evil one, words of healing and health, not sickness and infirmity, words of renewal of youth and not losing your faculties, words of beauty and not ugliness, words of purity and not filthiness, words of morality, not immorality, words of increase, not of decrease, words of encouragement and not discouragement. And you can find a Scripture for each one of those things. Just start with Psalm 103 and Psalm 34.
I love you. You shall not die but live and declare My works with your words. Live! And be blessed! Bless your body and bless your family and bless your co-workers and bless your friends and bless your students and declare yourself blessed going in and blessed going out.
