He redeems your life from the pit, He crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion. Psalm 103:4.

Then let him be gracious to him, and say, “Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom.” Job 33:24.

He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. Psalm 40:2.

Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:

There are pitfalls in life, but if you are led by My Spirit, He leads you on level ground. He warns you about the pitfalls if you will listen. David knew about the danger of the pitfalls in his life and he earnestly prayed in song, “Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” Psalm 143:10. And when he did fall into a pit, he knew Me as the one who would redeem his soul, “I waited, waited for the LORD; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.” Psalm 40:1-3.

Today we continue our series “Forget not ALL His Benefits” with Life Lesson No. 3: “He redeems your life from the pit.” Psalm 103:4. And indeed, I do. There are many pits people fall into, especially when those whose minds have been blinded by Satan lead others whose minds have likewise been blinded to the truth of My Word by the evil one, 2 Corinthians 4:4-5, then they both fall into the pit. Jesus once stated about the Pharisees, “Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” Matthew 15:14. But the most common pits believers fall into are those of fear, depression, bad relationships, shame, financial lack, sickness, and defeat. Some of these pits you dig yourself by sinful or ignorant conduct, “He who digs a pit may fall into it, and a serpent may bite him who breaks through a wall.” Ecclesiastes 10:8. But some of the pits are pits you got thrown into by others, which happened literally to Jacob’s favored son, Joseph, when his brothers threw him in a deep pit from which there appeared no way out, but I made a way, and Jeremiah who got thrown in a miry cistern by his enemies and left to die, and Daniel who got thrown into the pit of a den of hungry lions. But I delivered them out of them all. “And He said to them, ‘What man is there among you who has a sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out?’” Matthew 12:11.

There is no pit so deep that I won’t see, and if you turn to Me in your pit, I will lift you out on eagle’s wings. The descendants of Abraham, My friend, had been thrown into a pit of affliction in cruel slavery by the Egyptians, but when they cried to Me and I came down and redeemed them out of that pit, that place of abuse and slavery, “You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to Myself. Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” Exodus 19:4-6. When I pull you out of the pit, you must renew your mind and walk in the freedom of My children in newness of life. You do not want to be drawn back into the pit of fear and slavery a second time. “For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, ‘Abba! Father!’” Romans 8:15.

There is one final pit though that you never want to be trapped into going there by the devil and his demons, for where the carcass is, there will the vultures gather, and that is the eternal pit of fire. Hell. In Jesus, I have redeemed your life from the pit. I did not prepare that for mankind and there is no reason for you to go there. Only a fool would live their life to end it in the pit. Do not live as the foolish, as those whose minds have been blinded by the god of this world, but as wise, as My children of the Light. “Then he will pray to God, and He will accept him, that he may see His face with joy, and He may restore His righteousness to man (I did this in Christ), and he will sing to men and say, ‘I have sinned and perverted what is right, and it is not proper for me. He has redeemed my soul from going to the pit, and my life shall see the light.’ Behold, God does all these oftentimes with men, to bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be enlightened with the light of life.” Job 33:26-30. No follower of Jesus will ever walk in darkness, no, never, for he will have the Light of life. Jesus is the Light of the world.

I give you a glimpse of the devil’s end in Words of wisdom I gave to both My prophet Isaiah and My prophet Ezekiel. Isaiah wrote about the fall of Lucifer from his place in Heaven as the anointed cherub to his ultimate exile to the pit of Hell, “ ‘I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’ Nevertheless you will be thrust down to Sheol,
to the recesses of the pit.” Isaiah 14:14-15. And in the Gospel of Matthew it is written regarding the final judgment of the nations, “Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels.” Matthew 25:41. And finally at the end of time and the beginning of the age of eternity the final judgement comes, “And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” Revelation 20:10. “Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:14-15. I have sent Jesus to deliver you and redeem you from that pit, do not ignore so great a salvation. Call on Him, if you have not already, while there is still time.

But now I want to talk to you who are My children but are in pits at your job, or at school, or in your marriage, or with your children, or with mistakes you have made in your life. I redeem you out of the pit. Trust Me. I will bring you through to a safe harbor, a wide and open place filled with the light of My love, I can set a table before you in the wilderness where all your enemies can see you but cannot touch your abundance. I vindicate those who are Mine, no matter how you got yourself into that dark place. You may have made a mess of things through neglect, ignorance, or just because you were too busy with other things, do not worry, I can clean up any mess if you will just let Me into your life by My Spirit as your helper, advocate, comforter and teacher. Let the Light shine into your darkness. Let Me be the one at your side. And I will send angels to help you. Your heart will throb and overflow as you look up and see the good things I am pouring into your mess to bring you out to your wealthy place. “Depart, depart, go out from there, touch nothing unclean; go out of the midst of her, purify yourselves, you who are the vessels of the LORD. But you will not go out in haste, nor will you go as fugitives; for the LORD will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” Isaiah 52:11-12. I have you covered, your righteousness comes from Me. Isaiah 54:17. I surround you with songs of deliverance, join Me and praise your way out of the pit and watch Me work on your behalf. Get comfortable with Me. I AM there for you no matter what created the mess. My Holy Spirit will hover over it and I will speak, “Light be!” And you will say to that mountain, “Grace to it, grace to it.” Zechariah 4:7 (“What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring forth the chief corner stone with shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’”)

Shake yourself from the dust, rise up, Jesus came to set the captives free, loose yourself from the chains around your neck, you are under grace and not the law. Isaiah 52:2.

But how do I redeem you out of the pit? What is the lifeline I send you? “And they drew near to the gates of death. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses. HE SENT HIS WORD AND HEALED THEM AND DELIVERED THEM FROM THEIR PITS.” Psalm 107:19-10. Yes, the word there is “pits,” though you may also see it translated as “destructions.” In Hebrew it is “shechith,” which means a pit. My Words are life to those who find them and health to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:22. It is My Word alone that saves you. My Words are not idle words, they are your very life. You were made by My Word and you are saved by My Word.

So next time something goes wrong, or you get a bad report about yourself or someone else, do not throw yourself into a pit. Find your lifeline in My Word. And it is this, “Have no anxiety about anything but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7. Cast that care on Me with complete peace and joy and say, “Papa is taking care in the very best way, I have nothing to fear.” And watch Me go to work to send you just what you need to get you through with flying colors. You really have nothing and no one to fear, I am with you taking care of things if you will just let Me. Stop struggling and start snuggling. Let Me take you under My wings and fly you on eagle wings. I have given My angels charge over you. Blessing is yours. I have redeemed you from the pit.

I love you. Forget not ALL My benefits. They are for you. I want to give them out and not keep them, won’t you take them by faith?
