Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see and believed.” John 20:29.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:
As our series on how to receive and administer healing continues, today we will consider Life Lesson No. 3: Faith. Without faith it is impossible to please Me because to come to Me you must believe that I AM and that I reward those who seek Me. To come to Me for healing you must believe that I have the ability and power to heal and that I will heal those who come to Me. Faith is the connector between Me and you. If the faith is not there, you do not connect. I am always open to connect to you, but without faith you do not open to that connection. When you seek Me with your heart, you will find I am right there with you already. Faith is knowing I am there and that My promises are there for you to have (My gifts and My callings are irrevocable) even though you do not see Me or them as yet. That is one of My adjunct Names I gave My prophet Ezekiel, YHWH Shammah, the LORD is there (יהוה שָֽׁמָּה ). Ezekiel 48:35.
All healing comes from Me, whether it is the healing systems I put within your bodies when I made them or a supernatural intervention with those processes and parts, but all accelerated supernatural healing, as well as supernatural replacement, new parts, and restorations can only come by faith. And that faith can come from one or all of three sources, the faith of the person being healed, like the woman with the twelve year hemorrhage of internal bleeding, the faith of the person interceding for the other’s healing, like Jairus for his young daughter, or the gifts of the Spirit of My faith, like Peter and John in the healing of the man lame from birth at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and the gifts of healing, like Philip having the gifts of healing for those who were lame in the town of Samaria. But the grace gifts from the Spirit of My faith and gifts of healing always are bestowed upon and channeled through one with faith. Basically it comes down to the faith of the person requesting the healing whether it be for him or herself or others.
So, since it impossible to get supernatural healing without faith, if you want to receive and administer healing it is important to understand what faith is. You remember that Paul wrote to Timothy that he remembered his unfeigned faith. 2 Timothy 1:5. If that is the case there must be a true faith and a feigned faith.
I speak of faith often in the New Covenant and under the Abrahamic Covenant. In the Covenant made at Mt. Sinai with Moses and the people of Israel, I speak more of your obedience to My Words and My faithfulness than your faith. But faith was a given there as you are not open to hearing and keeping My Words if you do not believe that I AM and I reward those who seek Me. They, however, had seen Me do things impossible to man alone, such as the ten plagues of Egypt, the Passover Lamb, the parting of the Red Sea, water from rocks, and manna raining on the camp every morning. So their faith was based more on sight than yours generally is now. But you must recall that they had no written Word to refer to then until I and Moses wrote it down so revelation was through My works though they could not see Me other than the cloud of glory and the pillar of fire. So they believed in Me because of My works but most of them never learned My Way, which is faith, except Joshua and Caleb, and, of course, Moses, who operated by faith.
I define what faith is in various ways and places in the Bible but the definition given in the book of Hebrews is a good place to start. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 1:1. In the language in which this passage with first written, that is, Greek, the word translated “substance,” and other translations as “assurance,” is the Greek word “hypostasis” from “hypó,” meaning “under” and “hístēmi,” meaning “to stand,” meaning that you have legal standing under a guaranteed agreement (“title-deed”); figuratively you have “title” to a promise or property, i.e. a legitimate claim because it literally is, “under a legal-standing,” that is, entitling someone to what is guaranteed under the particular promise. And that is where you stand with respect to My promises on healing, you have a title-deed to them. Legally, as My children, you are entitled to My promise of healing, since all My promises are “yes” to you in Christ Jesus, you have a right to take and eat the children’s bread, which is healing.
The word translated “evidence,” and in other translations “conviction,” is the Greek word “élegxos,” meaning an inner conviction, a proof of something.
So faith gives substance to hope by producing the equivalent of a title deed of ownership based upon a promise found in My Word as proving the reality of things you do not see as yet manifested. And it is action on your part upon that promise by faith that brings that which is not seen into being in your life. I speak those things not existing as existing and they manifest.
So what actions do you take? The spirit of faith, the obedience of faith, and the works of unfeigned faith. Faith without works is dead. You believe in your heart, speak the promise as it personalizes to you, and make the preparation for it as if it were on its way. And if you really have faith in My promise you will begin thanking Me for it from the first moment you find the promise until you see it. Do not wait to thank until after you see it manifest. Jesus explained this to you, “Have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.” Mark 11:22-24. If, based on confidence in My Word, you believe you receive when you ask, you will thank Me in joyful expectation of the good coming. And My apostle Paul wrote, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6. And My apostle Peter wrote to keep alert in prayer by thanksgiving. Colossians 4:2.
Now I am going to give you a simplified working definition of faith for you who are interested in receiving and administering healing: FAITH IS BELIEVING BEFORE YOU SEE IT AND BEING ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN BRINGING IT INTO BEING. And I will give you an even shorter version: FAITH IS EYES OFF YOURSELF AND EYES ON ME.
Focus. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus and his mind on the Word Jesus spoke to him, “Come!” he could walk on the water but when he looked down at the circumstances and his own ability, he sank. Jesus is not with you in the same way He was with Peter at that time, but He is with you the same way He was with Peter when Peter administered healing to the man crippled from birth at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple. And to you now, since Jesus is My Word and I am My Word, John 1:1-3, keeping your eyes on Jesus and on Me means simply keeping them on My Word. The Word of faith. My faith is in My Word. And when you hear and say it from your heart that faith becomes yours. Faith comes from hearing and hearing My Word. And the spirit of faith is that you believe in your heart and speak with your mouth according to that belief and nothing contrary. And the obedience of faith is you obey My Word in your daily life and also that you refuse to speak words contrary to Mine that would cancel Mine out. It is agreeing with My Words in what you say so that Jesus can act as the High Priest of your confession (homologia, saying the same Word) and bring them before Me to perform.
Eyes off yourself and eyes on Me. That is what Abraham and Sarah had to do before the promise I made them of a child could manifest. Abraham believed My promise when I gave it to him and I credited that to him as righteousness before Me. I preached the Gospel to him ahead of time. But he got his eyes back on himself and Sarah and Sarah had not been able to conceive thus far and had not gotten younger but much older. Sarah also knew that she had not been successful for many years, so she proposed a way of getting My promise to come to pass that was not true to My Word but as far as she was concerned got the desired result and was humanly possible by their efforts to get the job done. The only problem was it was not true to My promise that the child would be a covenant child of Sarah and Abraham. So what happened that changed it all? Let My apostle Paul explain as I revealed it to him, “In hope against hope Abraham believed, so that he might become a father of many nations according to that which had been spoken, “So shall your seed be.” And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. Therefore it was also credited to him as righteousness.” Romans 4:19-22. When they stopped looking at themselves and looked at Me with eyes of faith, the promise manifested soon after. And it was not just Abraham who did this. “By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.” Hebrews 11:11-12. And the whole idea made Sarah laugh. And the son was named “Isaac” which in Hebrew means “laughter.” Faith that overcomes all obstacles will make you laugh with joy as you watch all that held back your miracle fall out of the way. Same was true for Hannah. When she got faith she was “no more sad.”
Faith is a wonderful thing, it turns your life around, it fills your days with beauty and takes away your frown. It turns you into a prophet telling the good news that God is here among us making all things new!
To every believer I have given a measure of faith. And you can strengthen your faith from little faith to great faith by feeding and exercising your faith by hearing and speaking My Word which we will discuss in the next Life Lesson. But there is something else. The Israelites did not enter My rest because they never united faith with My promises. They did not connect so the power was not conducted into their lives. When the woman with the hemorrhage reached out and touched My Son her faith, as was in her heart and spoken with her mouth, was a perfect conductor of the power. Faith is the conductor by which My healing power can flow into your body to heal.
For electricity to be conducted to the receptor the connection must be with a material that conducts the current through it without too much resistance. The most effective electrical conductors are the metallic elements of silver and gold. In Paul’s letter to Timothy he counsels him in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. But for those that cleanse themselves from profane and empty chatter, strife, and other godless pursuits, and instead pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, will be vessels for honor, set apart and sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. Conductors of My healing power. Silver in My Word represents redemption and gold represents My righteousness. When you know you are redeemed and are established in righteousness you are far from oppression and you can come with confidence to receive for your righteousness comes from Me.
But science has now also, in the discipline of electricity transfer, discovered superconductors. A superconductor is a material that can conduct electricity or transport electrons from one atom to another with no resistance. A superconductor can carry a current indefinitely without losing any energy. For a material to behave as a superconductor, low temperatures are required. Do you see why I tell you not to worry, not to fear, and not to be anxious about anything but cast your cares on Me? Agitation, stress, and worry cause resistance to My healing power. Remember in the first Life Lesson in this series I told you that the word for healing and the word for relaxing both have the same root stem of the letters resh and a pey, the pictograms and meanings of which are the head and the mouth, signifying that to be relaxed and healed you must control your thoughts and your speaking so that you do not permit yourself to be anxious or afraid.
It is time you became a superconductor. Like Peter, whose shadow falling across another healed that person, and Paul, when cloths were touched to him and then laid on the sick the power was held in them to give healing.
I love you. Healing is received and administered by faith, either the faith of the one healed, the faith of the one administering the healing to another, or by a combination of your faith mixed with My faith, but the one requesting the healing has to be doing so by faith to connect and conduct the power to heal through to the recipient. Do you remember when Jesus healed the ear of Malchus in the garden? That was strictly done by Jesus’ faith as Malchus was there to arrest him. But why did Jesus use his faith to heal him? To protect Peter from prosecution for severing the man’s ear in his zeal to save Jesus. Use your faith to bless, protect, and heal.
