And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelation 19:16.
I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which He will bring about at the proper time—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen. 1 Timothy 6:13-16.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
I have given all authority to My Son in heaven and on earth. Matthew 28:18. On His shoulders dominion rests. Isaiah 9:6. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Revelation 19:16. And that is today’s Life Lesson as we look into the unfathomable riches I have put in My Son, Jesus Christ your Lord: “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” To Him every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to My glory, Philippians 2:10-11, for I anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and with power and He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for I was with and in Him. Acts 10:38.
What does that He is KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS mean? It has many layers but primarily it means that He is the ultimate ruler of all the kingdoms of the earth. Remember that the highest Heaven is Mine but I gave dominion of the earth to the sons of men. Psalm 115:16; Psalm 8:6. And He is the Son of God but also Son of Man, the ultimate of all the sons of men, the fairest and most beautiful of all. Psalm 45:2.
When My Son dwelt among you in the flesh as Son of Man, I called Him My servant and He emptied Himself of all His powers and riches to take on all your sins, illnesses and pains and be obedient onto death on a cross, for the wages of sin is death as the punishment justly due them. He humbly bore all that, including not only the pain but also the shame and anguish of soul that went with it, for the joy of reconciling you to Me and making you righteous with My righteousness to reign forever with Me in Him. Revelation 22:5; Romans 5:17. But when I raised Him from the dead, I raised Him not only as the great good Shepherd and as your great High Priest, but as the KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS—glorious, triumphant, and as your ruling and reigning King. He overcame and is seated on My throne with Me, Revelation 3:21, to rule and reign until I have put all enemies under His feet. 1 Corinthians 15:25.
The first mention of My Son under the title of KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS in the Bible is in Paul’s first letter to Timothy, and there it has to do with the second coming and the good fight of faith. Under the inspiration of My Spirit he wrote, “Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which He will bring about at the proper time—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.” 1 Timothy 3:12-16. The way this reads in the language of Greek in which it was first written, it says “King of those being kings and Lord of those being Lords. And that is an insight of revelation there for I am again showing you that He is the ultimate authority over every kingdom, nation, or government on earth.
You will note that in the passage of Scripture refers to the “good confession” that Jesus testified before Pontius Pilate. What was that? The words Jesus said to Pilate were few and were all in answer to questions that Pilate asked Him. Initially Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” And Jesus said to him, “As you say.” And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He did not answer, which amazed Pilate. Matthew 27:11-13. Then Pilate entered again into the Praetorium, and summoned Jesus and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus answered, “Are you saying this on your own initiative, or did others tell you about Me?” Pilate answered, “I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered You to me; what have You done?” Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not from here. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not from here.” Therefore Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” John 18:33-38. And finally, Pilate entered into the Praetorium again and said to Jesus, “Where are You from?” But Jesus gave him no answer. So Pilate said to Him, “You do not speak to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?” Jesus answered, “You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.” John 19:8-11.
There is much here but focus on the answer of Jesus with respect to governmental authority, “You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above.” Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from Me, and those which exist are established by Me. Romans 13:1. But Pilate was in the presence of a King who received His authority from a Kingdom that is not of the earth now but will one day rule all the earth. Jesus could have called upon Me for twelve legions of angels of the Heavenly Host from the one true Kingdom to rescue Him and no earthly ruler could have stopped them but He did not. As I foretold through My prophet Micah, “And He will arise and shepherd His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord His God. And they will be safe, because at that time He will be great to the ends of the earth. This One will be our peace.” Micah 5:4. He is the King of those reigning as kings on the earth, and the Lord of those being lords on the earth, ultimate authority lies with Him, on His shoulders I have made dominion rest. I raised Him from the dead as the great good Shepherd and the King of kings and Lord of lords. I am speaking here of the millennium.
But even now, earthy rule can only go so far against My Son and those who have receive Him and whose citizenship is now also in Heaven before I remove them from authority. Look at the empires, kingdoms, and governments from the time My Son was on earth and you will see this is true. You find this revelation in Psalm 33: “The LORD nullifies the counsel of the nations; He frustrates the plans of the peoples. The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance. The LORD looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men; from His dwelling place He looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, He who fashions the hearts of them all, He who understands all their works. The king is not saved by a mighty army; a warrior is not delivered by great strength. A horse is a false hope for victory; nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength. Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, on those who hope for His lovingkindness, to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine.” Psalm 33:10-19. Kings, rulers, presidents, prime ministers have tried to nullify My plans but they cannot. I let them have time, and give them every opportunity to repent, but there comes a time when their cup is so full of abomination that I am just to remove them. I did this with King Saul and replaced him with David, a man after My own heart who did My Will. I did this finally with Herod, he had not listened to those I sent him—John the Baptist and Jesus—and his crimes had reached their limit. He did not repent. I took him out. And the chief priests and Pharisees tried to stop the preaching about Jesus, jailing the apostles, but My angel let them out, and not just once. And eventually Rome came in and destroyed the nation. Jesus had warned them, in fact, wept over them, but they refused to recognize the time of their visitation. And later the Roman empire was destroyed as well. And you will see this over and over.
And in Psalm 2, which is also addressed to the end times and the millennium, I reveal more to you of this authority I give to My Son over the nations: “Why are the nations in an uproar and the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together against the LORD and against His Messiah, saying, ‘Let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us!’ He who sits in the heavens laughs, the Lord (Adonai) scoffs at them. Then He will speak to them in His anger and terrify them in His fury, saying, ‘But as for Me, I have installed My King upon Zion, My holy mountain.’ ‘I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.’ Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; take warning, O judges of the earth. Serve (אֶת) the LORD (יְהוָ֣ה) with reverence and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, for His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!” Psalm 2:1-12.
I also revealed this to My prophet Daniel in visions and the interpretation of dreams. I showed him the rise and fall of kingdoms, nations, rulers, that all tried to fight My people and My Kingdom but finally the judgment comes against each of those proud leaders and their dominion will be taken away, annihilated and destroyed forever. Then the sovereignty, the dominion and the greatness of all the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to My people who believe in My Son. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all the dominions will serve and obey Him. Daniel 7:23-27. Yes, you My holy ones will receive the kingdoms of the earth forever, for all ages to come. Just know the one waging war with My saints and overpowering them will be judged and thrown in the lake of fire forever. But for all those in the Lamb’s Book of Life, judgment is passed in your favor and you will take possession of the Kingdom. Daniel 7:18-21.
Now let us look at the revelation of My Son coming from Heaven to set up His millennial reign from the city of Jerusalem, Zion, My holy mountain. This takes place after the catching up of the believers in the clouds to meet My Son in the air, the great tribulation, and the marriage feast of the Lamb, “And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelation 19:11-16.
There is so much packed in here about the unfathomable riches of Christ and who He is as the risen Lord, My Son exalted returning to set up His Kingdom, the Kingdom of My Beloved Son upon the earth. You see His robe is dipped in Blood and His Name is the Word of God, His blood is in the Word. And that Word is the Sword of the Spirit out His mouth, and you should be enforcing the victory over the works of the devil with that same Sword out of your mouth even now. Look at the beauty of Him! Crowned with the many crowns He won as more than a conqueror overcoming the world and the “god” of this world who is behind the deception of the nations.
Look at Psalm 45, for it is about My Son and you. “My heart overflows with a good theme; I address my verses to the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. You are fairer than the sons of men; grace is poured upon Your lips; therefore God has blessed You forever. Gird Your sword on Your thigh, O Mighty One, in Your splendor and Your majesty! And in Your majesty ride on victoriously for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness!” Psalm 45:1-4. And you are riding with Him! To the one who overcomes, and keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations; and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken to pieces, as I also have received authority from My Father; and I will give him the morning star. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’ Revelation 2:26-29.
But let Me return to the revelation of Jesus riding to conquer. As I stated, this occurs after the catching up of the believers in the clouds for the resurrection of your bodies, 1 Corinthians 15:51-53, and at this point you who believe in My Son will have already participated in the marriage feast of the Lamb, Revelation 19:7-10, and the great period of tribulation is coming to an end. And from there the vision of John continues, “And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone. And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse.” Revelation 19:19-21.
And then the Kingdom of My Son on earth when you get a chance to live in a world as it is but free of the devil and all evil in the Kingdom of My Beloved Son to live out the dreams of your life that the devil stole. For I rescued you from the domain of darkness, and transferred you to the kingdom of My beloved Son, in whom you have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14. “Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key to the abyss and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time. Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead (the unbelievers and followers of the devil, the sons of disobedience who lived in lawlessness) did not come to life until the thousand years were completed to face the final judgment. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.” Revelation 20:1-6.
When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison, and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore. And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Revelation 20:7-10.
And what happens next? My great white throne judgment for those whose names are not in the Lamb’s Book of Life. For those who have taken Jesus as Lord, it is written, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” John 5:24. Believers only go before the judgment seat of Christ to receive their rewards, 2 Corinthians 5:10, but it is not a place of condemnation, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1. But for those who have rejected Him, I will be sitting on the white throne and the present earth and heaven will flee away, and no place will be found for them, then the dead, the great and the small, will stand before the throne, and the books will be opened and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead will be judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And the sea will give up the dead which are in it, and death and Hades will give up the dead which are in them; and they will be judged, every one of them according to their deeds. Then death and Hades will be thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name is not found written in the Lamb’s book of life, he will be thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15.
This is a terrible sight. Do everything you can to rescue people from going there with the devil and his angels. Please witness to others as My Son commanded you to do and keep them from the place of torment. It is not My Will that any should perish, but that all should be saved. I sent Jesus for this, I sent you My Word to heal you and deliver you from your destructions, and I continue to send you apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastors and teachers, for the equipping of believers for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until you ALL attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the riches you have in My Son, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13. I have gifted you each with special gifts of My manifold grace to use for the benefit of all. 1 Peter 4:10. Do not bury your gifts or put the light in you under a bushel basket, you are wise to save souls. Matthew 25:18, Luke 11:33, Proverbs 11:30.
In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts. Jude 1:18. And you see that now. These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded (mind set on the flesh), devoid of the Spirit. But you, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in My love by abiding in My Word and My Word abiding in you, waiting with confident hope for the mercy of your Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. And have mercy on some, who are doubting; save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh. Jude 1:19-23.
And there will be a time of distress after the catching up of the believers before Jesus rides the white horse, the great tribulation, such as never occurred and at that time everyone who is found written in the book, will be rescued. Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt. Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. Daniel 12:1-3.
Rest in Me for I am well able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of My glory before My throne blameless with great joy, for I will complete the good work I have begun in you. Jude 1:24; Philippians 1:6.
So let Me sum up for you about the King of kings and Lord of lords. You are still living in the age of grace, the age of the Church on earth as the Body of Christ before He returns. So for now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep, for since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. I am speaking of the redemption of your bodies to glorified bodies. And that is coming, but each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, the those who are in Heaven in the spirit but are awaiting the clothing in their glorified immortal bodies, and then those who are Christ’s at His second coming, and then He must reign until I have put all His enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be abolished is death. And then comes the end, the final judgment, when Jesus hands over the kingdom to Me, the Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. For I have put all things in subjection under His feet. But when I say, “All things are put in subjection,” it is evident that I am excepted who put all things in subjection to Him. And when all things are subjected to Him, then My Son Himself also will be subjected to Me, the One who subjected all things to Him, so that I may be all in all. 1 Corinthians 15:20-28. But always remember My Son and My Spirit generate and proceed forth as God with Me, One God, a perfect and complete expression of who I AM. King and LORD of all.
And after the white throne judgment, the most awesome, breathtaking, glorious event will occur and you will explore it, live it, and enjoy it forever. I am speaking of what happens to you who have believed in My Son and received My grace through Him, you whose names are found in the Lamb’s Book of Life. There will be a new heaven and a new earth and My holy city, the new Jerusalem, will descend out of heaven from Me, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And My tabernacle will be among you and I will dwell with you, and you will see Me and be like Me, and you shall be My people, and I Myself will be among you and I will wipe away every tear from your eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away. Revelation 22:1-4.
And I then proceed to make all things new. Like Genesis 1 all over again but far better. When I restore it is far better than before. And you will behold beauty beyond beauty, colors beyond colors, music beyond music, mountains, valleys, hills, crystal clear living waters, and everything filled with light and song. There is no night or darkness there and there is no evil for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
And My heavenly city is lit by My glory and its lamp is the Lamb. It has the brilliance of costly gems, as a diamond, and the gates are formed of pearls and the streets of spun gold. The foundations stones of the city wall are adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone is jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. And a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, comes forth from My throne and that of the Lamb, and along either side of the river is the tree of life, bearing twelve fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. There will no longer be any curse; and My throne that of the Lamb will be in it, and you shall see My face, and My name will be on your foreheads. And there will no longer be any night; and you will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because I will illumine you; and you will reign forever and ever. And all the nations surround My city where you rule and reign with Me and the nations will walk by the light of My glorious city, and those of you who are appointed kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. For now you who have been faithful in little things are rewarded with great promotions (Luke 19:17-19) and you see another level of the King of those who are kings and Lord of those who are lords. In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed; and the kings and lords of the earth will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. And there will be nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. Revelation 21-22. This is the glory of all the faithful when I beautify you with Salvation. Psalm 149:4. Oh, what a glorious day it will be! Hasten My coming by preaching the good news to everyone, because only then can the end come. Matthew 24:14. I am not slow about My promise, as some count slowness, but I am patient towards you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9. I do not want anyone to perish for lack of knowledge of the truth, be serious about praying and interceding for others’ salvation, I hear that prayer and grant it. 1 Timothy 2:4, 1 John 5:14-15.
I love you. Did you ever realize there is so much in the title of KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS? And we have not even touched the surface of the depths of this Name. But it is so important it is written on His robe and on His thigh. Revelation 19:16. Two witnesses establish a fact.
