And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High. Genesis 14:18.

Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:

Why did Jesus choose bread and wine for His body and blood as the Covenant meal? Many reasons but primarily because He always did exactly My Will. And that has been My Will since the beginning.

Now on the day when you wave the sheaf, you shall offer a male lamb one year old without defect for a burnt offering to the LORD. Its grain offering shall then be two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, an offering by fire to the LORD for a soothing aroma, with its drink offering, a fourth of a hin of wine. Leviticus 23:12-13.

When I set out for Moses and My people in the wilderness My appointed times which they were to proclaim as holy convocations, immediately following the Passover and the feast of unleavened bread, on the third day, the day after Shabbat (the Sabbath), that is, the first day of the week, they were to bring in the sheaf of the first fruits of their harvest to the priest. He would then wave the sheaf before Me for the people to be accepted; and when they waved it, they then offered the unblemished lamb for a burnt offering, unleavened bread as the grain offering, and wine as the drink offering. Leviticus 23:4-14.

That was the day known as “first fruits,” and it is the day Jesus rose from the dead. Three days after the Passover meal I raised Him from the dead on the first day of the week, which is Sunday. The appointed time was fulfilled in Christ. The shadow became the substance.

Remember, when they went to prepare the Passover meal, Jesus told them that His appointed time drew near. But since I gave the appointed times (moadim in Hebrew), to Moses they had celebrated the risen Christ without even being aware of what they were doing would be fulfilled.

But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s at His coming, then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. 1 Corinthians 15:20-24.

If you will look back to the Mosaic Covenant when I established a nation with My written Word and wondrous laws (which were opportunities to be successful and fruitful, Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3), part of the tithe of all was the grain, the new wine, and the oil. And that was given to the priests.

You shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God, at the place where He chooses to establish His name, the tithe of your grain, your new wine, your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and your flock, so that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always. Deuteronomy 14:23.

And grain was made into bread was the offering called the “minchah (מִנְחָה)” which means a gift, tribute, offering. ‘Now when you bring an offering of a grain offering baked in an oven, it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mixed with oil, or unleavened wafers spread with oil . . . Every grain offering of yours, moreover, you shall season with salt, so that the salt of the covenant of your God shall not be lacking from your grain offering; with all your offerings you shall offer salt. Leviticus 2:4,13.

You do not live on bread alone but on every Word that proceeds from My mouth. The bread that comes down from Heaven is My Word. And I sent My Word to heal you and deliver you from all destruction. And My Word became flesh and dwelt among you, taking you from glory to glory. And you must eat His flesh and drink His blood, or you have no true life in you. The Word is bread and He was born in the town of Bethlehem, which means House of Bread.

In the plan of the Tabernacle I gave to Moses that they constructed in the wilderness as the first temple, and it was mobile, in the inner court before the Holy of Holies there was the golden Lampstand and the golden table on which they put the twelve loaves of unleavened bread, which only the priests could eat, that I called the Bread of the Face, or of My presence. And with it were the utensils for the drink offering of wine. Bread and wine in the holy court.

The bread, the wine, and the oil. The Word, the blood, and the Spirit.

And what did the Holy Spirit bring with Him to Abraham?

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High. Genesis 14:18.

And that is the first priest mentioned in the Bible and He is also king of righteousness and of peace. And Jesus is anointed King and Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. And Jesus has released you from your sins by His blood and made you kings and priests forever by the same anointing He is made King and Priest, and that is the anointing of Melchizedek. And Melchizedek, who lives forever, is still the one who causes the bread and the wine to become the heavenly substance, not of this earth, of the Body and Blood of Jesus. For My Spirit hovers waiting for My Word to be spoken to perform it into manifestation. I send forth My Spirit and all are created and I renew the face of the earth. And what is the Word? The same words Jesus said:

For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.

As kings and priests you say the words He said over the bread and over the cup and the Holy Spirit brings about the transformation. Just as He does in your life as well.

For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:3-7.

Why then bread and wine? Think a moment. Both are made by crushing the elements that make them. For grain to become bread it must be threshed and then grinded and pounded into flour. For grapes to become wine they must be crushed and treaded down to release the juice in them. And think of oil as well. The olive must be crushed and pressed down to produce the best oil.

But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed. Isaiah 53:4.

Crushed, afflicted, trampled upon, was My Son but so cheerful and kind. Love, true love gives you joy. For the joy that lay before Him of bringing you all into the Kingdom with Him. He loves you and released you from your sins by His blood and made you a royal priesthood.

When the hour had come, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him. And He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;  for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” Luke 22:14-16.

You know it is important that Jesus so earnestly desired to feed you with His body and blood. I know what you need. It makes you one in strength, joy, power and eternal life with Him in that New and everlasting Covenant of Love that I planned so carefully and built the world upon so that you could live your life through, in, and with Him. What a wonderful life I have for you and it is forever.

On your journey through this life going through time to eternity, I do not let you journey alone. I am with you, and I give you strength for the journey. I feed you with the finest wheat. Heavenly bread that makes you run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint. I take you up with Me on eagles’ wings to soar on the heights of the sky, sharing My life, sharing My secrets in the revelation of My Covenant.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30.

I give you seed for the sower and bread for the eater. And that is My Word.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace. Isaiah 55:8-12.

When Elijah became discouraged, wanted to give up, and lay down weak and weary praying to die, I sent him bread from Heaven and after eating that bread he walked forty days and forty nights to Mt. Horeb, to the very place where I had encouraged and strengthened Moses for his mission to go and rescue My people Israel from slavery from the burning bush and the very mountain to which I then brought him and over two million people whom I redeemed from Egypt from which I spoke the ten commandments and gave Moses the plans for the Tabernacle, which is the map of Salvation.

But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree; and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, “It is enough; now, O LORD, take my life, for I am not better than my fathers.” He lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and behold, there was an angel touching him, and he said to him, “Arise, eat.” Then he looked and behold, there was at his head a bread cake baked on hot stones, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank and lay down again. The angel of the LORD came again a second time and touched him and said, “Arise, eat, because the journey is too great for you.” So he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mountain of God. 1 Kings 19:4-8.

Do you recall how Jacob blessed the two sons of Joseph, that is, Ephraim and Manasseh? “The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day, the angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads.” Genesis 48:15-16.

The word you see translated as “angel” is the Hebrew word for “messenger” and you know who My Messenger by whom I speak to your plainly in this age of grace is, the One that I sent as your good Shepherd. And He is the one who strengthened Elijah with the bread from Heaven.

But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.” Therefore He will give them up until the time when she who is in labor has borne a child. Then the remainder of His brethren will return to the sons of Israel. And He will arise and shepherd His flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD His od. And they will remain, because at that time He will be great tTo the ends of the earth. This One will be our peace. Micah 5:1-5.

The very one who laid down His life for His sheep and gave you His body and blood as food for the journey. He feeds you the bread of eternal life and whoever eats that bread will live forever. The bread of champions.

He rained down manna upon them to eat and gave them bread from heaven. Man did eat the bread of the mighty (in Hebrew: abbir (אַבִּיר): mighty, valiant). Psalm 78:24-25.

And why wine? Love. My Love is better than the finest wine. The blood of the grape, crushed and trampled underfoot. My Son tread the winepress for you alone. But I saw you there with Him, for He is your substitute and your identity.

“May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine Your oils have a pleasing fragrance, Your name is like oil which is emptied from one vessel to another, therefore the maidens love you. Draw me after you and let us run together! The king has brought me into his chambers. We will rejoice in you and be glad; we will extol your love more than wine. Rightly do they love you.” Song of Songs 1:1-4.

And where does My love take you who find rest in Me?

“He has brought me to his house of wine, and his banner over me is love.” Song of Songs 2:4.

And how do I keep you safe and strong there?

“Let his left hand be under my head and his right hand embrace me.” Song of Songs 2:6.

And in My left hand are riches and honor and in My right hand is long life for length of days. Prosperity and healing. Just as I did for My people after they partook of the lamb, the bread, and the wine under the covering of the blood of the lamb on that first Passover.

And it all comes to pass by the anointing oil. The Holy Spirit. And it is the oil of joy. And He is the finest wine, the love that I pour in your heart in My house of wine.

So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to yourselves and one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father. Ephesians 5:17-20.

I love you. There is so much treasure here, the deeper we go the more you will find and the more you will enjoy partaking in the communion meal with Jesus. It has meaning beyond all you can ask or imagine for it gives you the purity, health, and wholeness of the body of Jesus in your body each time you partake, and the blood washes you clean and new every time you drink of the cup of Salvation, Yeshuah, Jesus, My gift to you.

What shall I render to the LORD for all His benefits toward me? I shall lift up the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the LORD. Psalm 116:12-13.
