A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord (Adonai) LORD (Yahavah) has spoken! Who can but prophesy? Amos 3:8.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
We have been looking at the prophesies about Jesus made by the prophets of old. I want to continue that journey but first I want to talk to you about how the prophets heard from Me. I would that you would all prophesy.
How do you become a prophet? You listen to Me and you respond. That might sound very simple, and it is, but way too many people just never listen so they never respond. Many are called but few are chosen. Why? Most do not listen or respond.
Do you remember what happened at Mt. Sinai? I had made an appointment not just with Moses but with all the people I brought out of Egypt. And I was looking forward to having a talk with them all, so they would all know My voice and know My ways. I want all to know Me from the least to the greatest. I told Moses about this from the first day he listened to Me.
But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?” And He said, “Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.” Exodus 3:11-12.
But they were not interested. They told Moses to listen and then tell them later what I said. Moses, however, was different, he was very interested.
In the noise and bustle of Pharaoh’s palace, which was a family of idol worshippers with many “gods” that were really not gods at all but demon spirits, Moses had not learned to listen, he did all the determinations, but when he was alone with his father-in-law’s sheep in the wilderness, I got his attention by a burning bush that was not consumed by the fire. And he drew close to that burning bush and for the first time he listened. He was eighty years old.
So Moses said, “I must turn aside now and see this marvelous sight, why the bush is not burned up.” When the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” Exodus 3:3-4.
So you see the first step in hearing from Me, you draw close to Me and respond. You turn aside and pay attention and do not just pass off My voice and walk away about your own business. It was the same for Samuel. I called to him, and when he was advised it was Me and not Eli calling him, he drew close to Me and responded. And he never stopped conversing with Me again, until he knew Me so well that he always knew when I spoke to him and immediately did what I had shared, such as anointing David as king though he had already anointed Saul.
And as listening to Me changed Samuel’s life (and through his response the life of the nation), so too with anyone who turned aside to listen and converse with Me and partner in fellowship with Me. Hearing from Me changed Moses’ life from a cowardly refugee to a hero that devastated a cruel and ruthless empire and led My people out to freedom. Instead of fleeing trouble, he faced it and overcame it, not only for himself but for an entire nation. The same thing happened for Gideon when he finally spoke with Me rather than just complaining about Me.
The next step in hearing from Me, was the approach to Me. Moses turned aside but he just barged over to the bush considering it a physical phenomenon with no thought of the holy. I stopped him and told him to take off his shoes before he came near for he was on holy ground. I wanted him near Me, but I wanted him to know that he was talking to the LORD of Heaven and earth and not some force or phenomenon. I am a Person of majesty, dignity, wonder, and splendor. I am your creator and the creator of all things. I am the Most High. You are My family, but a child should respect and honor his parent and a wife her husband.
“A son honors his father, and a servant his master. Then if I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My respect?” says the LORD of hosts to you, “O priests who despise My name. But you say, ‘How have we despised Your name?’ You are presenting defiled sacrifices upon My altar. But you say, ‘How have we defiled You?’ In that you say, ‘The table of the LORD is to be despised.’ But when you present the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? And when you present the lame and sick, is it not evil? Why not offer it to your governor? Would he be pleased with you? Or would he receive you kindly?” says the LORD of hosts. Malachi 1:6-8.
There is a certain awareness you have of those who are in authority over you. When you listen and respond to Me, as you draw near to Me, come with confidence but come with awareness of the sacred. You do not bring the profane into the Holy of Holies. You come in holy attire, and remember I am speaking of your heart.
Those who honor Me I honor, but those who despise Me will be lightly esteemed. 1 Samuel 2:30.
So when you approach Me come with confidence but with respect and honor for the holy. You treat holy things in a way different from the unholy of the world, the flesh, and the devil. Even in a secular way you treat your valuable treasures differently than the other things in your home. Some are guarded, cared for, and reserved for special occasions and use as more valuable than other things. The same with words and books, My Words have a very different impact than worldly idle words that have no lasting value and go nowhere.
Then He said, “Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” He said also, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. Exodus 3:5-6.
This was not your ordinary encounter that you would pay no attention to, where you would make some small talk and go about your day. I was about to impart Words from Heaven to him. And at that point, he was ready. Even though Moses and I spoke together as friends every day from that day forward, he never lost his reverent awe and admiration for Me. He approached Me with honor, respect, loyalty, and love, and this became deeper and deeper as he talked with Me more and more. And I responded to Moses as he had responded to Me. And I do the same with all of you.
“For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have given Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in your place. Since you are precious in My sight, you are honored and I love you, I will give other men in your place and other peoples in exchange for your life. Do not fear, for I am with you.” Isaiah 43:3-5.
Once Moses realized the importance of My message from above, he gave Me his full attention. And that is another step in hearing My voice, you pay attention.
My son, give attention to My Words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them and health to all their body (flesh). Proverbs 4:20-22.
And once I had his attention and his awareness of the sacred encounter of with whom He was speaking, I shared My heart’s desire with him. I had heard the cries of My people and seen the unjust way they were being treated by the Egyptians in cruel slavery and I had come down to rescue them and redeem them out of slavery and lead them to the land flowing with milk and honey that I had promised Abraham I would give his descendants. And Moses thought that was wonderful. But then I told him that he would be the one to go speak to Pharaoh and bring this to pass. This was too much for him. He told Me he was not qualified. I answered with the same answer I give each one of you, “Certainly I will be with you.” And that is all you need to triumph.
I would bring it to pass by My power but I have no authority to enter the earth, or even your own life, without you authorizing Me to do so by your dominion over the earth and your own life. I gave that to you and I will not go back on that gift. Jesus told you that whatever you ask in His Name He will do through, in, and with you by the gift of the Holy Spirit in you. This is of what He was speaking. It gives Him authority to act with you as members of His body on earth.
And then Moses asked My Name. He did not know Me. And for each of you, it is the same. After you respond to Me, I share My Covenant Name with you and I show you My Salvation (Yeshuah), Psalm 91:16, yes, Jesus. And I did with Moses, remember, Jesus told the astounded Pharisees that Moses wrote about Him. John 5:46.
“Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My Name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With a long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation (Yeshuah).” Psalm 91:14-16.
Moses wrote both Psalm 90 and Psalm 91. In Psalm 90, he speaks to both Me under the sacred Memorial Name I gave him, Yahavah (“LORD”) and to Adonai (God and Man, Jesus) (“Lord”).
Moses honored Me and became My intimate friend. He was interested in Me. No one else that came out of Egypt was as interested and awed by Me as Moses. Consequently no one else knew Me as he did. He not only asked things for himself and the people, but he was interested to see Me, he asked Me to show him My glory. He was hungry for revelation and impartation.
He loved My Word, so I gave him the first five books of the Bible to write by revelation of all that had taken place. He advised all the people to write My Words everywhere in their homes, on their hands, before their eyes and to talk of them all day and teach them to their children. He knew My Words were their very life. Remember, I showed him how I made everything, which became the first chapter of the book you call Genesis, but I call “In the beginning.”
Joshua watched and learned from Moses as his servant, and just as I was with Moses, so I was with Joshua, but Joshua never became My intimate friend in quite the way Moses did. And that was not favoritism on My part. I am telling you this so you will learn from it. Moses prayed you would all prophesy.
You witness why there was this difference in fellowship from how Joshua responded to things that happened that seemed contrary to My promises. When they lost the battle of Ai right after conquering Jericho, Joshua turned against Me when they lost that battle. Instead of inquiring why something seemingly contrary to My promise had happened, he asked Me why I brought them across the Jordan to the promised land to hand them over to their enemies! And he had just seen the miracle of the fall of Jericho with his own eyes and had participated in it! Joshua 7:6-10.
He questioned Me as what I would do to repair that disgrace on My great Name! Joshua 7:9. He was concerned about the opinion of their enemies of Me rather than the truth of My Word. Moses did not do that. I was his audience of one. He would have been zealous for Me and gone after the offender immediately as he did when his people worshipped the golden calves. He was all out for My honor.
I had to tell Joshua to stop lying on the ground and putting dirt on his head and stand up and listen to Me so he, as the leader, could get the solution from Me and put it into action so they would have the victory I promised. Joshua 7:6-10. And once he listened, I showed him the sin in the camp, and he then followed my guidance in getting it out of the camp.
People would call that a faith issue, but faith comes by hearing and hearing My Word but it works by love—knowing and believing the love I have for you. It comes from knowing Me and trusting Me, it comes from a relationship. Faith in a person comes easily when you know the person well and know them to be a person who loves you, has integrity, would never lie to you, and esteems you so greatly they put your interests ahead of their own. And that faith is even more assured when you know they have the ability and power to make good all their promises to you. When that sort of person is for you, who has all the power and is willing to use it on your behalf, who can be against you?
This I know, that God is for me. In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise, in God I have put my trust, I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me? Psalm 56:9-11.
And then to prophesy you must not add anything or detract anything to what I have told you to say or do, so you can prove accurate information and not discredit My Word. Do not water it down or change it to please the person you are talking with.
Then the LORD said to me, “The prophets are prophesying falsehood in My name. I have neither sent them nor commanded them nor spoken to them; they are prophesying to you a false vision, divination, futility and the deception of their own minds. Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who are prophesying in My name, although it was not I who sent them—yet they keep saying, ‘There will be no sword or famine in this land’—by sword and famine those prophets shall meet their end! Jeremiah 14:14-15.
I would also like you to consider My prophet Elijah. He listened to Me and did amazing wonders and signs, but when the queen Jezebel threatened to kill him after he had called down fire on the sacrifice to prove I was God on Mt. Carmel and released the country from drought when they declared Me as LORD, Elijah feared her and ran for his life. He told Me he wanted to die. He wanted Me to take him out of the world. He was discouraged and tired. I gave him nourishing bread (bread from Heaven that the angel brought, when you are discouraged learn from that you need to partake in the bread of the Body of My Son) and I would not let him give up. I told him to go to My holy mountain, Mt. Sinai (Horeb), where in the past I had spoken so many days and nights with Moses, to hear from Me. I took him apart and spoke gently to him in My still quiet way. Not as a raging earthquake, fire, or wind, just a whisper. And he covered his face, as Moses had done, and listened and responded.
I asked him why he was there and he tried to justify himself, but I showed him what he was believing was not the truth and he had to go back to finish his assignment before he came home to Me. I gave him three things to do, but he only did one of them, that is, he anointed Elisha as his successor, and Elisha, after I answered Elijah’s prayer and took him up to Me without dying a mortal death, Elisha did the rest of Elijah’s assignment. I do not let you be tried beyond your strength, I give you a way out.
And Elijah had his reward, in fact, you see him with Me and Moses on the mountain of the transfiguration conversing with Jesus. That is fellowship with the Father and the Son in the Spirit. Do not fear, it has pleased Me to give you who follow My Word the Kingdom. My gifts and call are irrevocable.
Follow Me, hold your tongue, and be generous. Listen to and do My Word, keep your tongue from evil, lies, and deceit, and be generous with your time, treasure, and talents as I direct you. I have you covered. Whatever you do, do it unto Me as your audience of One and you will hear from Me. Be aware of Me, for I am very aware of you. In Me you live, move, and have your being. I AM your reason to be and your eternity.
I have set the LORD continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will dwell securely. Psalm 16:8-9.
I love you. Work with Me and prophesy! It is what opened the way for Jesus to come to earth. And now be prophets of His second coming!
