And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:5.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלוהים) says:
The anointing, I identify Jesus as the Messiah, the Christ, which means the Anointed.
Why are the nations in an uproar and the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together against the LORD (Yahavah) and against His Messiah (mashiach (מָשִׁיחַ): anointed), saying, “Let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us!” He who sits in the heavens laughs, the Lord (Adonai) scoffs at them. Psalm 2:1-4.
I have an answer for those who speak against Me and My Anointed One, for those who reject My Son, reject Me.
Then He will speak to them in His anger and terrify them in His fury, saying, “But as for Me, I have consecrated My King upon Zion, My holy mountain.” Psalm 2:6
I consecrated, anointed, set Him apart, as King upon My Holy Mountain, the heavenly Zion, the church of the firstborn.
And Jesus has an answer as well and it is My Words to Him as I raised Him from the dead by the Holy Spirit as the firstborn of many brethren, the firstfruits of born-again mankind, raised from the dust of death to be seated at My right hand in glory:
I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD (Yahavah): “He said to Me, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession.” Psalm 2:7-8.
And that raised Him up from the pit of hell where He had gone to satisfy the just sentence of My wrath against the sin of Adam that was upon him and all his descendants.
And what was My response? My Son would save them. He is your refuge and your fortress. He covers you with the anointing.
Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; take warning, O judges of the earth. Worship the LORD with reverence and rejoice with trembling. Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, for His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him! Psalm 2:10-12.
You who believe in My Son and receive Him as your Messiah, you receive His anointing.
But let Me back up a bit. You will find that under the Mosaic Covenant I introduced anointing of certain individuals to consecrate and empower them with skill for certain offices and assignments. The first ones to receive anointing were the priests. And My plan was for all My people to be priests, a royal priesthood. A kingdom of priests. Priests, prophets, and kings—the anointed ones.
Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own special treasure among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. Exodus 19:5-6.
An anointed people to bring My Kingdom to the earth. A light to the nations. Let My light and fidelity lead you on to My holy mountain, Zion.
The anointing oil (the Hebrew word for oil is “shemen (שֶׁמֶן)”) was made of olive oil and fragrant spices, for which I gave Moses the sacred formula and then I gave him those endowed with skill as perfumers to make it. And all this was done in the barren wilderness camping below Mt. Sinai on the way to the promised land where I gave Moses the plans for My dwelling place among them, the Tabernacle, and the anointing oil was not only poured out upon the priest but upon the furnishings and utensils of My Holy place. I can provide supplies for My assignments even in a barren wilderness.
Moreover, the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Take also for yourself the finest of spices: of flowing myrrh five hundred shekels, and of fragrant cinnamon half as much, two hundred and fifty, and of fragrant cane two hundred and fifty, and of cassia five hundred, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil a hin. You shall make of these a holy anointing oil, a perfume mixture, the work of a perfumer; it shall be a holy anointing oil. With it you shall anoint the tent of meeting and the ark of the testimony, and the table and all its utensils, and the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense, and the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the laver and its stand. You shall also consecrate them, that they may be most holy; whatever touches them shall be holy. You shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister as priests to Me. You shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, “This shall be a holy anointing oil to Me throughout your generations.” Exodus 30:22-31.
It was poured out on Aaron’s head as High Priest, Exodus 29:5-6, and then sprinkled on Aaron and his priestly garments as the High Priest and the on his sons and their garments as priests to minister with him and serve him. And the anointing oil that was sprinkled was mixed with the blood of their sin offering.
Then you shall take some of the blood that is on the altar and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron and on his garments and on his sons and on his sons’ garments with him; so he and his garments shall be consecrated, as well as his sons and his sons’ garments with him. Exodus 29:21.
And it was thus that the priestly anointing was passed on by the wearing of the garments. The anointing of the High Priest was a perpetual one. And it was the same anointing that went on his sons.
“The holy garments of Aaron shall be for his sons after him, that in them they may be anointed and ordained. For seven days the one of his sons who is priest in his stead shall put them on when he enters the tent of meeting to minister in the holy place.” Exodus 29:29-30.
Is the Holy Spirit bringing some things to your remembrance? When you are baptized into Christ you clothe yourself in Christ, the Anointed One. And He has released you from your sins by His blood and made you a kingdom, priests onto Me. A holy nation, a royal priesthood, a people set apart called out of darkness into My own marvelous light to be a light to the nations. The anointing in the garments of Salvation and the robe of righteousness in which you were clothed when you became a new creation in Christ. The glory of the anointing left Adam and Eve when they submitted to lies over the truth and sinned and they were naked. But now, in Christ Jesus, I have clothed you in glory, Christ in you, your hope of glory. The anointed One is in you, but there is more. How was He anointed? You know, “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, He has anointed Me.”
Do you remember that when Samuel poured the ram’s horn full of anointing oil upon David to set him apart as king to shepherd My people Israel that My Holy Spirit rushed upon him and never left him?
But let us continue the journey of the anointing. The anointing consecrated the anointed as separated unto Me, endowed with skill for the office for which they were set apart to minister to Me and to the people. The anointing did not just stay on the outside, it filled also within.
Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “See, I have called by name Bezalel (his name means “In the shadow of God”), the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, to make artistic designs for work in gold, in silver, and in bronze, and in the cutting of stones for settings, and in the carving of wood, that he may work in all kinds of craftsmanship. And behold, I Myself have appointed (as a gift) with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the hearts of all who are wise I have put skill (wisdom), that they may make all that I have commanded you: the tent of meeting, and the ark of testimony, and the mercy seat upon it, and all the furniture of the tent, the table also and its utensils, and the pure gold lampstand with all its utensils, and the altar of incense, the altar of burnt offering also with all its utensils, and the laver and its stand, the woven garments as well, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, with which to carry on their priesthood; the anointing oil also, and the fragrant incense for the holy place, they are to make them according to all that I have commanded you.” Exodus 31:2-11.
Who else was anointed? Kings for governing the people. Prophets for speaking My Words to the people by being in a close relationship with Me.
When Israel demanded a king over them, though I was to be their King, lawgiver, and judge, I told Samuel to anoint Saul from the tribe of Benjamin as king. But Saul became proud and disobedient and could no longer govern My people rightly and My Spirit left Saul and he let in an evil spirit that tormented him the rest of his life. I then instructed Samuel to pour the anointing oil on David and I anointed him king of Israel as a man after My own heart. After that all kings were anointed by the High Priest and sometimes by a prophet.
Zadok the priest then took the horn of oil from the tent and anointed Solomon. Then they blew the trumpet, and all the people said, “Long live King Solomon!” 1 Kings 1:39.
I instructed Elisha, My prophet, to anoint Elisha as prophet to take his place.
Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place. 1 Kings 19:16.
A prophet anointed a prophet and Elisha asked for a double portion anointing. Why? To do the works Elijah did and greater works than those. And he asked it as the firstborn spiritual son of Elijah. And because he saw Elijah go up to Me, the mantle fell on Elisha of the double portion anointing.
Are you remembering something again? The disciples saw Jesus go up from Mt. Olivet into the heavens and then the Holy Spirit fell, the gift of the anointing of the Spirit. and they went forth to do the works of Jesus and greater. And you are joint heirs with Christ and all in line for the double portion, the double portion anointing, for the skill and wisdom to do the works of Jesus and greater!
I anointed Jesus all three anointed offices. I anointed Him King, Prophet, and Priest. And how did I anoint Him and with what anointing?
The LORD (Yahavah) said to my Lord (Adonai) sit here at My right hand until I make your enemies a footstool under your feet. . . The LORD (Yahavah) has sworn and will not change His mind, “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” The Lord (Adonai) is at Your right hand. Psalm 110:1; 4-5.
According to the order of Melchizedek. Melchizedek is a Hebrew word that means “King (melek (מֶלֶךְ)) of Righteousness (tsedeq (צֶדֶק)” and He is the priest of the Most High that is also King of peace that met Abraham with bread and wine when Abraham (then “Abram”) defeated the kings and their armies that attacked Sodom and Gomorrah and carried away his nephew Lot and all the other people and goods as well. Melchizedek blessed Abraham and Abraham gave Him a tithe of all. Melchizedek has no beginning and no end, no father and no mother, but like Jesus is a priest forever. He is the Holy Spirit, who is also a prophet to the churches and the nations for He testifies to Jesus, which is the Spirit of prophesy, and is the One who inspired all those who wrote My Holy Word, known as the Bible. You will note that Jesus stated about Psalm 110,
And Jesus began to say, as He taught in the temple, “How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David? David himself said by the Holy Spirit, ‘The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, until I put Your enemies beneath Your feet.”’ David himself calls Him ‘Lord’; so in what sense is He his son?” And the large crowd enjoyed listening to Him. Mark 12:35-37.
David spoke by the Holy Spirit on him.
But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. 2 Peter 1:20-21.
And it is the Holy Spirit who speaks to the churches.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Revelation 2:29; Revelation 3:13; 22.
And as I anointed Jesus, so He anoints you, king (dominion authority as royalty and to shepherd My people with your great good Shepherd), prophet (speaking My Word into the earth so I can perform it and thus bringing it to manifest from the spirit realm to the earth realm), and priest (intercessor, teacher, pastor, preacher, minister unto Me and to the people offering spiritual sacrifice from the mercy seat in the Holy of Holies with your great High Priest Jesus).
But how did I anoint him? With the Holy Spirit and power!
You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Acts 10:38.
And now He has clothed you with power from on High. The gift of the Holy Spirit– Melchizedek to anoint and ordain you king, prophet and priest according to His order.
Jesus, at My right hand, received the promised Holy Spirit from Me and became your great High Priest forever according to the order of Melchezedek, and then poured the Holy Spirit down ON YOU who believe. And when you were born again from above He came to dwell in you as well. Acts 2:33; John 20:22-23, 1 Corinthians 3:16. And Jesus and the Holy Spirit proceed from My deepest bosom and express Me in Word and are one with Me, and who am I? Love.
And now I will tell you what the anointing is!

THE ANOINTING IS MY LOVE IN YOUR HEART.
And what does love do? Good works. You are empowered with skill and wisdom from on high to go about doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil.
How did Jesus recognize that those were hypocrites who were saying they were the anointed priests at His time? “I know you and you have not the love of God in your hearts.” John 5:42.
I am looking for the anointing in each one of you lighting the lamp of your spirit so that you can come into the marriage feast when the Bridegroom returns to catch up His glorious, anointed bride, the church. His body. And the anointing oil runs down the head of the High Priest to all of His body. Psalm 133:1-2.
I love you. We will speak more of the anointing in the Life Lessons to come. We have barely touched upon it.
