But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 11:441-42.

Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלוהים) says:

In your preparation for eternity, I will simplify things for you, there is only one thing necessary to assure your entrance into eternal life. You may be thinking that life is much more complicated than that, but My answer to you is if you do this one thing, everything will work out perfectly.

Before I share the secret of the “one thing” with you, let Me ask you a question that will lead you to the answer. How does My Word, and My Word was made flesh and dwelt among you in My Son so that I can now speak to you directly through My Son as one like you, define eternal life?

“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” John 17:3.

Eternal life is knowing Me and My Son, and you only know someone if you have fellowship with them. Above everything else, the one thing I seek with you is fellowship. That is what pleases Me. It is the reason I made you and saved you, reconciling you to Me. And this is true of you as well, the primary reason people get married or become friends is for fellowship with a like-minded person. I made you in My image and according to My likeness so that we fit together perfectly.

I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge, even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you, so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:4-9.

If you are in fellowship with Me, like Abraham, like Moses, like Joshua, like Deborah, like David, like Daniel, like Mary, like Peter, like Paul, like Jesus, you will live the life of good deeds I prepared for you in advance, and you will finish your life satisfied. You will have been fruitful with fruit that endures to coming generations.

Jesus told you that He always did what pleased Me when upon the earth.

Jesus said, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am, and I do nothing on My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me. And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.” John 8:28-29.

He was always aware of My presence, conversing with Me and putting things into My hands. He prayed without ceasing. And this led Him to fulfill His purpose and mission.

“I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do. Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.” John 17:4-5.

It is fellowship and partnership that is walked out in mutual love, honor, faithfulness, and agreement, which is Covenant. Our love for one another, developed by years of fellowship, becomes great delight in each other. Your relationship with Me is family, true family of the highest and most noble kind, where you rest and abide in Me knowing I have all the answers and supply you will ever need now and in eternity.

Surely goodness and lovingkindness will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6.

Wherever you are, always know that you are home with Me. You are welcome and desired. I have your life covered, and you have nothing to fear.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. Revelation 3:20-21.

You are always seated with Me in Christ. Day and night you are with Me and I am with you. We can always fellowship. You never need to sit as if empty and alone. You are always with Me in My house. It is your one true home, wherever you roam, with Me you are home.

If I ascend to heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay hold of me. Psalm 139:8-10.

Without a relationship with Me there is no eternity together.

Your lovingkindness, O LORD extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; Your judgments are like a great deep. O LORD, You preserve man and beast. How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; and You give them to drink of the river of Your delights. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light. O continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You, and Your righteousness to the upright in heart. Psalm 36:5-10.

Now let us consider those in the Bible whom I tell you went to My Kingdom forever and you will find one common ingredient in diverse personalities and assignments, whether lowly or great, whether they did spectacular works, tasks the world considers lowly, or nothing that was fruitful, whether they be sinners who had done shameful things that were washed clean or those like Daniel who were of excellence all their years on earth. And what is that? They communicated with Me with faith, which works by love. They had fellowship with Me. They listened to Me. They talked with Me. They all at some point in their lives, whether early or late, began to walk in communion with Me, even if it was at their last breath on earth.

Let us start in a home where Jesus stopped for fellowship with a family He loved.

Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. It was the Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.” But when Jesus heard this, He said, “This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it.” Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. John 11:1-5.

Those who love and fellowship with My Son are lined up for miracles. My Son raised Lazarus from the dead after four days in the tomb, but I want to go back to an incident in their home well before that, in fact at the beginning of their fellowship. Martha was the first of the three to invite Jesus into their home. And in that visit, He taught Martha the secret of the one thing necessary for living days of Heaven on earth.

As Jesus and His disciples were traveling along, He entered the village of Bethany; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. Mary, her sister, seated herself at Jesus’ feet, listening to His word. But Martha was distracted with all her preparations of hospitality for Jesus and His disciples; and she came up to Jesus and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.” But Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42.

What was that one thing? Fellowship. But not just any kind of fellowship. Mary sat at My Son’s feet in the posture of a disciple with a Rabbi. His Words to her were Spirit and life. She valued His Words as treasure that she could not get enough of. As Peter said to Jesus, “To whom shall we go Lord? You have the Words of eternal life.”

Are you like the disciples on the way to Emmaus? When things seem cold and dark do My Words light up a fire in your heart? That is the one thing necessary to live a life of true joy.

If you seek My Kingdom first and My way of righteousness everything else is added to you besides. Like the flowers of the field clothed in splendor without toilsome labor. Like Manna falling each morning on the dewfall in the wilderness. Like the ravens flying in food to Elijah in a time of famine and the widow with her bit of oil and flour that fed her and Elijah and her son for a year and a half. These were all people in fellowship with Me or at least living with a prophet such as Moses or Elijah who were in fellowship with Me. These are My friends who spend time with Me and speak My Word to others and carry out My good plans in partnership with Me. Abraham, My friend, never lacked anything but grew very rich in cattle, silver, and gold. But the minute I showed up, Abraham put down anything he was doing, jumped up, and said “Here I am,” and was quick to show Me hospitality and quick to do what I told him was on My heart. And once I visited him with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, of course, the Holy Spirit he had already seen in His appearance as Melchizedek.

Now the LORD appeared to Abraham by the oaks of Mamre, while he was sitting at the tent door in the heat of the day. When he lifted up his eyes and looked, behold, three men were standing opposite him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth, and said, “My Lord (Adonai), if now I have found favor in Your sight, please do not pass Your servant by. Please let a little water be brought and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree; and I will bring a piece of bread, that you may refresh yourselves; after that you may go on, since you have visited your servant.” And they said, “So do, as you have said.” So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah, and said, “Quickly, prepare three measures of fine flour, knead it and make bread cakes.” Abraham also ran to the herd, and took a tender and choice calf and gave it to the servant, and he hurried to prepare it. He took curds and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and placed it before them; and he was standing by them under the tree as they ate. Genesis 18:1-8.

And what came out of his delight in My visit, in My fellowship? I promised him and Sarah that by that time the following year they would have a son. Sarah laughed at that. But she did have a son by that time the next year and she named him “Isaac,” which means “laughter.” I will make your life happy if you will just walk with Me.

Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with joyful shouting; Then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad indeed.” Psalm 126:2-3.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20.

Now let us consider the only person in the Bible that it is recorded that he was promised eternal life with Me that very day. He was the first person to inherit the fruits of Jesus’ death and resurrection. And he had not been fruitful or in fellowship with Me until the day of his death. But that day he did the one thing necessary, and walked him right into Paradise with Jesus to be with Me in Heaven forever. Who was he? He was the one who was crucified at Jesus’ right hand when Jesus hung upon the Cross.

Everyone would have thought him totally unqualified to receive the promise spoken to him by Jesus that day, but I do not see as man does, I see the heart.

But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness. Romans 4:5.

Enoch, Elijah, the criminal on the Cross–  you may not see that they are alike at all but they all drew close to Me in personal way, in a loving way that was filled with honor and respect. The criminal on the cross next to Jesus repented, admitted he deserved his punishment for his life of lawlessness, tried to save the other criminal on the other side of Jesus, and stood up for Jesus, proclaiming Him the Lord of a Kingdom before all the jeering Pharisees and Romans. And humbly he used the words of Psalm 25: Remember, O Lord, Your compassion and Your lovingkindnesses, for they have been from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to Your lovingkindness remember me, for Your goodness’ sake, O Lord. Psalm 25:6-7.

One of the criminals who hanging there was hurling abuse at Jesus, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!” But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!” And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.” Luke 23:39-43.

The criminal’s stony heart had become a heart of love reaching out to draw close to Me in Jesus. Jesus came to call sinners to repentance, and the criminal responded to that call. He was again in My image. The prodigal son had come home. And the celebration was soon to begin. And he was there for it all. Whoever calls on My Name will be saved. “Jesus” is the only name given among men by which you are saved.

The criminal had prepared for eternity by drawing close to Jesus and entrusting himself to Him. My Son at the Last Supper told you, “Do this in remembrance of Me.” But here the criminal asked Jesus to do it in remembrance of him. And He did.

How about your life? Are you doing the one thing necessary from which everything flows? I will give you words and a wisdom no one can take exception to or contradict but to receive that you must be in dialogue with Me. Fellowship makes partnership and partnership makes miracles. Like Martha and Mary with Lazarus. And they were upset with Jesus for coming four days later than they called Him to come because Lazarus had died in the meantime, but they found out that they did not have to get upset, just abide in Jesus and everything will turn out perfectly. Stay in fellowship no matter what comes against you. It is only a test you want to pass. And it is so easy to pass it. Just let Me pour My love into your heart by the gift of My Holy Spirit. And Jesus called Lazarus right out of the tomb and My glory came down upon the people living in darkness to see a great light.

But not everyone was willing to come to fellowship in the Light. Are you?

I love you. You are Mine and I am yours. Let us meet together in the secret place of prayer and make plans to bless every nation on earth. And the good news is that the one thing necessary is the good part that will never be taken away from you. Fellowship is forever and it only gets closer and better.

“Come now, and let us reason together,” says the LORD, “Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool. If you are willing and obey, you will eat the best of the land.” Isaiah 1:19
