But avoid ungodly empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness, and their talk will spread like gangrene. 2 Timothy 2:16-17.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
My Words are not idle words they are your very life. Love does not speak idly. Love is godly and speaks godly. Ungodly empty chatter is for those who are of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world to go and bear fruit that will last. Ungodly chatter does not produce enduring fruit, in fact, it will ruin any crop you are trying to grow. Ungodly chatter is like weeds among the wheat that quickly take over the entire field.
Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ ‘An enemy did this,’ he replied.” Matthew 13:24-26.
You may think an idle conversation does no harm but it also does no good. Ungodly empty chatter is vain speech that has no good reason to be said. Some things are better left unsaid. Ungodly empty chatter includes all of the following: complaining, grumbling, gossip, jokes, malicious speech that defames another’s character, rude remarks, flirting, lies, obscenity, deceptive statements of half truths that mislead the hearer to believe other than truly took place, arguing, insults, venting, and puffing.
Be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. Think before you speak, don’t just react immediately in anger or offense. Think about it and most of the time I will guide you to let it go and not bring up the remark that offended you. Remember when you speak, you are writing on the tablet of your heart.
My heart overflows with a good theme; I address my verses to the King; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer. Psalm 45:1.
All the time, you are talking to Me, even though you think you are talking to others. Before a word is on your tongue I know the whole of it and I know whether you are saying it to be naughty or nice, for evil or for good, for strife or for peace. Blessed are the peacemakers they are My children.
Do not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and man. Proverbs 3:3-4.
Let no rotten word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. In other words, everything you speak should be prophecy. To prophesy you speak words that line up with Mine which edify, exhort, and encourage your hearer.
When a person holds a conversation with you, like those who spoke with Jesus, they should leave as a better and happier person than when they came to speak to you. If they leave you filled with fear, worry, doubt, guilt or shame you have most likely grieved the Holy Spirit who is within you and by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as I in Christ also has forgiven you. And how did I forgive you? By His blood and that should be how you forgive as well. Christ has paid for everyone’s sins, you have been paid in full just as I have, but I will go after the wrong doers and take care of you.
If you desire to walk in love you are going to have to deny yourself ungodly empty chatter. It is the fool who says in his heart, “there is no God.” And when you indulge in ungodly chatter, there is no mention of Me, unless it is an expression of questioning Me, putting Me to the test, or making negative remarks about Me.
To walk in love, remember you are a sanctuary of My Spirit within, and My Spirit is holy and His presence has made you holy. Walk in accordance with the beauty of holiness. Worship Me in holy attire, that is, clothed in Christ. Separate the unclean from the clean, the profane from the sacred, and rid yourself of those things.
Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:20-21.
It is your words that determine the outcome of your life and determine the harvest you reap. What you say, the words of your mouth, matter. In fact, for you they matter more than anything else in heaven and on earth, for in your life your words have more power than My Words. You may find that hard to believe because I am the Most High, but I have set forth spiritual laws that give you dominion over your life by what you speak. You can agree with Me or you can agree with the evil one. And that determines your level of health, prosperity, and blessing in the present world and where you spend eternity and the position you have in the eternal Kingdom.
This is serious and you should not be careless in your words. They are the tools framing your world and the world of those who are joined to you. That is why I tell you that you shall give an accounting for every careless (idle, useless, harmful) word that you speak in the day of judgment. Matthew 7:36. Why? Because your words shape your life and they also shape the lives of others. Be careful if you mislead the little ones who believe in Me, for “whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” Matthew 18:6.
You can administer faith, courage, joy, forgiveness, victory, healing, comfort, confidence, blessing and life to your and other’s lives and dreams with your words, or you can administer fear, discouragement, shame, defeat, cursing and death to your and other’s lives and dreams. The adversaries of My prophet Jeremiah said, “Come on and let us strike at him with our tongue, and let us give no heed to any of his words.” Jeremiah 18:18. Your words are a sharp sword. Psalm 57:4. “There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” Proverbs 12:18. And My servant James, by the Spirit, wrote, “from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way. Does a fountain send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water? Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine produce figs? Nor can saltwater produce fresh.” James 3:10-12.
You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you and light will shine on your ways. When you are cast down, you will speak with confidence, and the humble person I will save. Job 22:28-29.
I do not want you to be unaware that by your words you are framing your life, your world, and your eternity. It is time to watch your mouth. As My servant David sang, “I will guard my ways that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth as with a muzzle.” Psalm 39:1. David was a man after My own heart. He understood spiritual laws.
Do you desire a long, healthy, happy life filled with good things? I tell you how to have that and it starts with the product, the fruit, of your lips: “Who is the man who desires life and loves length of days that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.” Psalm 34:12-13. My Words are truth and they sanctify you in the truth. John 17:17. Anything said that does not agree with My Words is deceit and is a lie, no matter what the circumstances look like. Yes, your words matter. The wicked cut short their lives.
Every word you think, ponder, and say is directing your life—it is fueling your emotions and heading you in a direction that can be good or bad or just idle, like the people standing idle in the market place all day waiting for someone to hire them. I tell you not to stand around idle but to go forward. Forgetting what lies behind, your past sins are forgiven and gone, press forward to know Me and to finish your work on earth that I have called you to do.
I love you. Make all your words to be words that are from a heart of love. Never let hate, anger or ill-will generate your words. Words can make or break your life. And they affect those who hear them too. Death and life are in the power of your tongue. I speak life and My life is love. Just agree and you will see wonders.
