I have been anointed with fresh oil. Psalm 92:10.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
I want to make your life beautiful, the most beautiful life ever lived. And a beautiful life is an anointed life. I have anointed you and appointed you to live a beautiful and fruitful life of good works as My royal priesthood, My holy nation, a people set apart to the praise of My glory. A people favored by Me, blessed in every way. You, like faithful Abraham, are blessed to be a blessing.
The Spirit of the Lord LORD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the humble; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to captives and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favorable year of the LORD. Isaiah 61:1-2.
The anointing enables you to do your Kingdom assignment upon the earth. It gives you ability, strength, power, and it renews your youth. The anointing lifts the burden and destroys the yoke of sin, oppression, and wrong direction. The anointing makes you a king, a prophet, and a priest.
Jesus is the Messiah, also rendered the Christ, and that means the anointed One. He is the King of kings, the Lord of lords, and your great High Priest. He has released you from your sins by His blood and made you a kingdom, priests unto Me. He is the High Priest of your confession (homologia: speaking in perfect agreement with Him and He only speaks My Word in agreement with Me). He is the author and finisher of your faith. He is your High Priest forever according to the Order of Melchizedek, and that is the Order of your priesthood as well.
You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Acts 10:38.
You are anointed with His same anointing to do the works He did and greater.
The anointing is an unction that sets you apart for a certain unique task in the body of Christ that is for the benefit of all. It is particularly suited to your talent and the desires of your heart. To know and learn from an anointed person is a blessing, empowerment, and revelation.
Never be jealous of the anointing of another as Saul was of David, you then lose the blessing of it empowering and furthering your gifts and your own anointing. Moses did not have the same anointing of skill in craftmanship that Bezalel had, but Bezalel did not have the same anointing of governance, direction, planning, leadership, and the working of miracles that Moses had. But Bezalel’s and Moses’ anointings complemented one another and together got the tabernacle whereby I dwelt among and traveled with My people completed exactly as I desired, and its construction and furnishings foretold and revealed the plan of Salvation.
But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore it says, “When He ascended on high, He led captive a host of captives, and He gave gifts to men.”
(Now this expression, “He ascended,” what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.) And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:7-13.
Guard and protect your anointing. As a member of the body of Christ you have an anointing, it flows down from the head upon all the members, but just as in a physical body, so the spiritual body of My Son has members with differing functions but the same anointing rests on all.
As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11.
Let us consider the anointing more deeply.
The anointing. The first time an anointing of a person is done in the Bible it is of Aaron as High Priest and his sons as priests under him. I taught Moses to anoint priests. Leviticus 8:12; Leviticus 16:32; Leviticus 21:10, Numbers 3:3. The anointing of the priests was perpetual once Moses had anointed Aaron and his sons, their descendants had the anointing. Their anointing qualified them for a perpetual priesthood, and so does yours, eternally reigning with Me in this life and in the Kingdom through Christ. Revelation 22:5, Romans 5:17.
I taught Samuel to anoint kings. 1 Samuel 9:16; 1 Samuel 10:1; 1 Samuel 16:1, 13. And so it continued. 1 Chronicles 29:22. I anointed the priests as holy and consecrated to Me to intercede and offer sacrifices for the people, teach My Word, lead worship, and minister unto Me in My house. I anointed kings with power and wisdom to rule and guide My people. Jesus has made you kings and priests unto Me. Revelation 1:5-6; Revelation 5:10. And the anointing has been poured on you who believe from on High. Acts 2:33.
And what is the anointing?
Let My Son tell you. “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, He has anointed Me.” Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:17-18.
And remember when Samuel anointed David? “Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon David from that day forward.” 1 Samuel 16:13. And only one king could be anointed as ruler, for the next verse after David was anointed, I tell you that My Spirit departed from Saul. 1 Samuel 16:14.
But I made a promise that I would make a New Covenant, that would not be like the one I made with Moses, which the people broke, but one where all would know Me from the least to the greatest, not just the kings, priests and prophets. Jeremiah 31:31-34. And I promised I would put My Word in and on your hearts. Jeremiah 31:33. I promised even more. I promised that I would pour out My Spirit on all under that New Covenant- young and old, men and women from the least to the greatest. Isaiah 59:20-21; Joel 2:28. And that you would prophesy. Joel 2:28.
And I went beyond that and gave you an extraordinary promise– something that had not been under the Old Covenant, in fact, it had not been since Adam sinned and his spirit became a dead heart of stone. I promised you through My prophet Ezekiel that I would not only pour My Spirit on you, but that I would put Him IN your heart: “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.” Ezekiel 36:26-27. And I would cleanse you of all your filthiness and idols and your sins and offenses I would remember no more. Jeremiah 31:34; Ezekiel 36:25. You would be born again from above by the pure and imperishable seed of My Word. John 3:3.
And the promise was all tied up with the Redeemer coming to Zion. My own arm that brought salvation. Isaiah 59:16. The LORD your righteousness. Jeremiah 33:14-16.
And Jesus reminded you of My promise. He told His disciples after He had risen from the dead as He was ready to ascend back to Me that they were to wait in Jerusalem for what I had promised and for what they had heard of from Him. Acts 1:4. Yes, Jesus told you at the Last Supper the night before He died that He would ask Me and I would give you another Paraclete that would be with you FOREVER, that is, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, who would be WITH YOU AND IN YOU. John 14:16-17. And My Son told you that when the Spirit came upon you would receive power to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8. Just like the kings and priests of old.
And I kept My promise on Zion, the mountain of grace. When Jesus ascended to Me after His death and resurrection, I exalted Him again to My right hand, and, then, after having received from Me, the Father, the promise of the Holy Spirit, Jesus poured the Spirit forth on you. Acts 2:33. Just as the anointing oil was poured on the head of the High Priest and the priests under him in consecration and as it was poured on the head of the new king for him to rule My people. But the anointing is now on all who believe and receive My Holy Spirit.
The anointing and the Holy Spirit. You cannot have one without the other.
I have confirmed you in Christ (Messiah—the anointed One), you who have taken My Son as your Lord, and I have ANOINTED you, having sealed you and given you the Spirit in your hears as a pledge. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22. I have sealed you in the Holy Spirit for the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30.
Jesus is the anointed one. He is your King and High Priest. You are all kings and priests in Him, but He is the King of kings and the LORD of lords. He is your great High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedeck. And Melchizedeck is the Holy Spirit. I anointed My Son and now you with the Holy Spirit, who is Melchizedek (King of Righteousness), together we anoint you with the oil of joy, just as we anointed Jesus.
Yes, I tell you in Psalm 45:7, which is quoted in Hebrews 1:9 as referring to My Son, that I anointed Him with the oil of joy. Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.
And Jesus has taken His anointing and poured it out on you. He gave you His peace and He gave you His joy. John 14:27; John 15:11. The apostles could not but be filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.
Do you recall that when Jesus came to the synagogue in Nazareth and was handed the scroll, He read from the prophet Isaiah: The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, He has anointed Me . . .” Let Me take you to that passage in Isaiah. It states as follows: “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord and the day of vindication of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to grant those who mourn in Zion, giving them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:1-3.
Do you see? I anointed Him with the oil of joy, Psalm 45:7, and I sent Him to pour it on you. Joy unspeakable and filled with glory. The joy of the LORD is your strength (fortress). The anointing makes you strong in Me and the power of My might. It clothes you with power from on High. It clothes you in Christ. His Name is oil poured out. Song of Songs 1:3. And My Name is a tower of strength for the righteous to run into and be exalted. Proverbs 18:10.
You have an anointing from the Holy One and you know the truth. 1 John 2:20-21. And if you abide in that anointing (My Word), that anointing will teach you about all things. 1 John 2:27.
I love you. I have anointed you in Christ, the Anointed One, and given you My Spirit as a pledge. You are a people set apart. A royal priesthood. Start walking in the anointing for that is who you are in Christ Jesus. And that is the real you. Begin operating in the Holy Spirit today. Prophesy. Dream dreams. And let My Spirit produce His fruit in you and do not be unaware of the spiritual gifts that He gives to each person. Pursue them earnestly. They are yours. I have anointed you with the oil of joy. And ask Me what unique anointing I have given you and then go forward to do your assignment with joy! If you ask, I will answer and let you know. It will not be like anyone else’s anointing for I anoint each person with fresh oil.
