For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. Ephesians 3:14-15.
Now the LORD said to Abram, . . . “And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” Genesis 12:3.
Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He preordained us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. Ephesians 1:4-6.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:
“For this reason,” Paul wrote in the Spirit, “I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.” Ephesians 3:14-15. And this is how he began his prayer that you would be strengthened in your inner man and know My love, which surpasses all.
Derive. How do you derive your name? From descent, that is by the line in which you are born, and by covenant. By covenant you can change your birth name to the name of a new line into which you were not born, but by joining in covenant, such as marriage or adoption, you become part of that line in name. Legally you are now an heir of the new line into which you have entered by covenant. And just as the birth right is binding, the covenant line is equally binding, and, in fact, such as in the case of legal adoption, it is more binding in that once you have entered the covenant of the new name, your birth line is no longer your line, and you no longer inherit from that line (you are cut off from it, so to speak) and you have entered a new line with a new name (grafted in). A new destiny and a new inheritance. The spirit of adoption is legally stronger than the biological line.
Do you see? For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which you cry out, “Abba! Father!” Romans 8:15.
When I created the first person, Adam, he is referred to as My Son. Luke 3:38. You are created in My image and likeness, and you were born out of My Spirit. So why do you need to be born again into My line and adopted legally by Me to now be My child? Adam then made covenant with the devil and was adopted by a new “god” and entered a new line. He became an heir of darkness and the curse. He now did the desires of his father, the devil. John 8:39-47. And he put the line that descended from him legally into the line of the devil. That is why Jesus told those who rejected His Word that their father was the devil, the father of lies. And they were behaving like their father.
So the only way that I could bring people back legally into My line to be My heirs and a people of My Word was to make covenant with them. And the first person I found who was willing to make a Covenant with Me was Abram, who I renamed Abraham. And he became legally My heir, that is why I call him and his descendants “heirs of the world.” And he cut Covenant with Me by faith and the shedding of the blood of a heifer, a goat and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon, Genesis 15:9, and also with circumcision as a sign of the Covenant, Genesis 17:1-14, (and compare Colossians 2:11-12) always shedding blood as a shadow of what Jesus would fulfill and pay in full. Abram’s faith was credited to him as righteousness, but like any credit card debt, it had to be paid by the real thing at some point. My Son, the Lamb that I supplied, as Abraham foretold, did that.
Covenant brought Abraham and his descendants into My line, and I told Abraham that “And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing; and I will bless those who bless you, and the one who reviles you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” Genesis 12:2-3.
And those who are in Christ are descendants of Abraham. Galatians 3:29.
But now there is more. Jesus made a new and everlasting Covenant with Me that cannot be broken. A covenant that legally puts you in His line forever so that you no longer have any part from the father Adam legally gave to you, that is, the devil. You have been born again and legally adopted, a double portion, into My line. Again, you are My children when you receive Jesus, for clothed in Him you are in Covenant forever with Me. In Him you have become a true son of God by birthright and adoption. Double. Two unchangeable oaths that are forever binding upon Me legally and cannot be altered.
The Covenant with Abraham and that with Moses were with Me on one side and all the people who entered it on the other. But the people broke My covenant and adopted other gods. Have you never read, “They have turned back to the iniquities of their ancestors who refused to hear My words, and they have gone after other gods to serve them; the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken My covenant which I made with their fathers.” Jeremiah 11:10. And when the adopted other gods, back they went into that family line. But that cannot happen with the New and better Covenant I foretold through My prophet Jeremiah, “Behold, days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the LORD. “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the LORd, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the LORD, “for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” Jeremiah 31:31-34.
And this has happened in Jesus. You are no longer without Me in the world, for I have rescued you out of the realm of darkness and adopted you as My children of Light. I have saved you from your former futile way of the life of your ancestors and you have been born again by the imperishable seed of My Word by the Spirit and not by the flesh.
Do you see why My apostle Paul wrote for you, “Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called “Uncircumcision” by the so-called “Circumcision,” which is performed in the flesh by human hands— remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity. And He came and preached shalom peace to you who were far away, and shalom peace to those who were near; for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, God’s family (for a son has a place in the Father’s house forever), having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit. Ephesians 2:11-22.
Jesus taught you to call Me Father. He was speaking to people in Covenant with Me. The descendants of Abraham. Israelites, to whom belongs the adoption as sons, and the glory and the covenants and the giving of the Law and the temple service and the promises, whose are the fathers, and from whom is the Christ according to the flesh, who is over all. But you may be thinking many of the Israelites did not receive Jesus as Lord, but you must understand the revelation I gave to My apostle to the gentiles, Paul, that it is not as though My Word has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel (Jacob); nor are they all children because they are Abraham’s natural seed, but: “through Isaac your descendants will be named.” That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as the true seed of Abraham. Romans 9:4-8. Jesus explained to the Jews when they did not receive His Words as from Me. The Jews answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you are Abraham’s children, do the deeds of Abraham. But as it is, you are seeking to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do. You are doing the deeds of your father.” They said to Him, “We were not an illegitimate breed; we have one Father: God.” Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me. Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My Word. You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me. Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me? He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.” John 8:39-47.
But you who are in Christ Jesus, I have given you His Name and He has given you My Name. Jesus prayed this at the Last Supper as His legacy to you who believe in His Name, to you who receive Him He gives the power to become children of God for in Him you enter the everlasting Covenant He made on your behalf, as your representative as Son of Man, with Me. And He will NEVER break it. So you cannot break the covenant seal on you either. You are Mine. I have called you by My Name. Jesus prayed to Me, “I have manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they were Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. 7 Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; 8 for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me. 9 I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours; 10 and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them. 11 I am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are. 12 While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me. John 17:6-12.
You derive you name now from Me. You are legally, in Christ Jesus, in covenant with Me and you take My Name and all I have is yours. And on your side, all you have is Mine. We are one in Name, family, and possessions. You are now a possessor of heaven and earth with faithful Abraham, but you have MUCH MORE for you also have the promise of the Spirit by faith. You have My Holy Spirit in you and on you. And those who are sons of God are led by My Spirit. And led by Him you will never go wrong.
You don’t have a problem when you have the solution. Call on My Name and you are saved. Why? You are Mine and I AM obligated legally to care for My family. You have My Name, the Name above every other name, to whom every knee must bow. And that is where you derive you name. Even in the world, children of mighty millionaires and entrepreneurs wield authority. If you have a great name, the world backs off in awe of your authority because of your father is rich, famous, and well known. Call on Me and I will answer you and tell you great and mighty things you could not know. Ask and you shall receive. I am present as your helper. As your healer. As your redeemer. As your teacher. As your leader. As your deliverer. As the lifter of your head. I have given you My Name and My promises.
Do you believe all that? It is all in My Word and My Word is truth. So why don’t you act like it is true? Why do you run around worried all the time when you already have the answer?
I make you strong. You may not agree at the moment, but I do. And it is by My Name, My Word, and My Spirit. And I gave them all to you in Jesus, the One who strengthens you.
I love you. You are part of a vast family of believers who derive their name from Me. Enjoy your legal birthright which has cut you off from the devil’s line. You are no longer a heir of him. You are no longer a slave to sin. You are a child of Mine, the living, loving, amazing, all powerful God. Heirs of glory.
