But of the Son He says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of joy above Your companions.” Hebrews 1:8-9.
“These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.” John 15:11.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:
I want you to know something. Do you know what it is? I have been telling you this from the beginning even unto now. It is how much I love you, care for you, and desire for you to prosper.
I tell you that My love for you is higher than the sky and deeper than the sea. That My love for you manifested in Christ by making Him the propitiation for your sins and forgiving you of everything you have done wrong and remembering it no more. My love for you caused Me to give My own Son for you and with Him everything besides. The breadth and length and height and depth, of My love for you surpasses knowledge and understanding. I made the world for you, gave you My Son and My Spirit so that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. I dwell with you and in you and you are My dwelling place. I heal you and keep you. And you are in My hand, I care for you, and there is no snatching out of My hand. I have prepared a beautiful life of good deeds for you in advance in Christ Jesus that you might enjoy it and live it.
But there is something more. Much more. I want you to be happy.
Yes, dare to say that, dare to believe it, and dare to put your faith in it. It will give you hope, and hope does not disappoint. “Happy the people,” sang David, “whose God is the LORD!”
I want you to have joy unspeakable filled with glory. And today I am going to tell you how to have that all the time, a joy beyond understanding that no one and nothing can take from you.
Look up at Me and smile, your face will never be ashamed. Psalm 34:5.
Let us begin with the foundation of all, the cornerstone, the key stone of the structure of your life. Jesus. My Word manifested in the flesh. And who is He? Peter knew from My revelation: He is the Messiah. He is the Christ. He is Christ Jesus. And Messiah in Hebrew and Christ in Greek means just one and the same thing: Anointed. Anointed with what? Well, in the Old Covenant, priests and kings were anointed with oil. And I tell you multiple times the oil that Jesus was anointed with: The oil of joy.
In Psalm 45 it is written: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of joy above Your fellows.” Psalm 45:6-7. And then I give you a second witness that it is My Son whom I so anointed, “But of the Son He says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of joy above Your companions.” Hebrews 1:8-9.
And what did Jesus tell you? “These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.” John 15:11. What things had He spoken to them? That He is the Vine and you are the branches and if you abide in the vine by remaining in Him and His Word remaining in you that you will bear much fruit, just as a branch that abides in a vine. And He tells you that I take care of the vine and its branches. And what was Jesus’ Word? Jesus told you, “The Words that I speak I do not speak on My own initiative but the Father abiding in Me does His works.” John 14:10. His Words were My Words and My Word works. And again, Jesus told you, “I did not speak on my own initiative but the Father Himself who sent Me (and as I sent Him, so Jesus sends you) has given Me a commandment what to say and what to speak. I know His commandment is Eternal life. Therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.” John 12:49-50.
The joy comes in My Word, My anointed Word. As Jesus prayed to Me, He let you hear too, “Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; for the Words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me.” John 17:7-8. “But now I come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves.” John 17:13. Jesus, My Son and the Son of Man, is the sower of the Word. Receive the implanted Word, it has the power to save your souls. It has the power to give you My joy. In My presence is FULLNESS of joy. And I am present in My Word.
Jesus is your great High Priest and you are His body, and the anointing on the Head runs down on the whole body, down to the very hem of his garment. As I sent Him, so He sends you and He send you anointed, as I sent Him. Remember? He opened the great scroll of Isaiah and read to the amazed people of Nazareth, “The Spirit of the Lord LORD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the lowly; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favorable year of the LORD and the day of vengeance of our God. To comfort all who mourn, to grant those who mourn in Zion, giving them beauty instead of ashes, the OIL OF JOY instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.” Isaiah 61:1-3.
Remember what the angel said to the awestruck shepherds in the fields of Bethlehem the night My Son entered your world as one clothed in flesh? “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Messiah (Christ) the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11.
Joy comes from knowing I am constantly with you and pleased in you. You share My joy, your Master’s joy, but how do you do that? Jesus said He always did what pleased Me therefore I never left Him alone but was constantly doing great works with, in and through Him. And what did He tell you? “Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.” John 16:23-24.
Joy comes from speaking only My Words, knowing My Name and praying in the Name of Jesus. Asking in His Name. Joy comes when you are in good health and prospering, even as your soul (mind, will and emotions) prospers. And how does that happen? By walking in the truth. “I have no greater joy than this, to hear of My children walking in the truth.” 3 John 4. Truth sets you free. And joy is freedom. My Word is truth, so by walking in the Word, which means walking by faith, which means living by faith, which means walking in the Spirit and not in the flesh, which all means walking in Love. The love with which I love you and poured that love in your hearts by the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Like a baby, you must learn how to talk. Let Me teach you to talk, it will change your life to one of joyful victory. You have one teacher: The Word. One counselor: The Word. Jesus has the Words of eternal life. No idle words permitted but how do you keep those out? Simple. Speak in tongues, psalms and inspired songs to one another and yourself.
Be conformed to the image of My Son. He did not speak of his own initiative, He only spoke My Words for in them there is eternal life. The life is in the Word. The Words of life.
I now will ask you a question, “What is the first thing you do in the morning?” Think about it and give Me an answer, but then I will ask you again the same question. Now you ask Me: “What do you want me to do first in the morning?” Here is My answer “Smile at Me.”
In general, people, even believers, rarely smile at Me. They pray very seriously. But it is written, “Look up at the LORD and smile and your face will never be ashamed.” Psalm 34:5. And the Blessing I gave Moses to give to Aaron say over the people to put My Name on the people so I could bless them was this: The LORD bless you and keep you, the LORD make His Face shine on you and give you His grace, the LORD SMILE UPON YOU and give you Shalom.”
If I am smiling at you, why don’t you smile back? If you smile at someone, what do they do? You know the answer because you have all done this, they smile back. Then why is it that you don’t smile at Me if you want Me to smile back on you? Or since I am smiling on you at your request, why don’t you smile back?
And you know, I am smiling at you. I want you to be happy.
Try this tomorrow morning. When you awake, smile at Me. A big happy smile. It will make your morning wonderful. Then pause during the business of the day and smile at Me. Your day will get better and better until you, like David, are dancing before Me with abandon no matter who is looking on. You days will be filled with so much joy and so much closeness with Me. A smile shared brings two strangers on the street into friendship. Be like the little lamb being carried about in My bosom, resting your head on My heart. Try it now. Smile at Me. And do it often.
