For the heart of this people has become dull, with their ears they scarcely hear, and they have closed their eyes, otherwise they would see with their eyes, hear with their ears, and understand with their heart and return, and I would heal them. Isaiah 6:10; Matthew 13:15, Acts 28:27.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God says:
Do you shine with joy for your Maker? The stars do. “Before whom the stars at their posts shine and rejoice. When He calls them, they answer, ‘Here we are!’ shining with joy for their Maker. Such is our God; no other is to be compared to Him.” Baruch 3:34-36.
Here we are. When I would call Abraham, he would say, “Behold, here I am.” And he was ready to do whatever it was I would share with him.
Are you ready when I call your name? Or have you turned a deaf ear? Are you dull of heart?
What does it mean to be dull of heart? It means you are so wrapped up in yourself that you cannot hear anything else. Your thoughts, your words mean more to you than Mine. They fill your heart and mind and they are stout against Mine. “Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” Yet you do not consult Me. My Spirit tells you things to come. You know not what your life will be like tomorrow. James 4:13-17. Making your own plans, thinking your own thoughts, and saying words which are not Mine. But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil. Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin. James 4:16-17.
Dull, sluggish—do not grow sluggish but imitate those who by faith and patience have obtained My magnificent promises. Hebrews 6:11-12. “For the heart of this people has become dull, with their ears they scarcely hear, and they have closed their eyes, otherwise they would see with their eyes, hear with their ears, and understand with their heart and return, and I would heal them.” Isaiah 6:10; Matthew 13:15, Acts 28:27.
A dull heart does not shine. The light has gone out. No oil in the lamp. You have left your first love.
What is the cure for a dull heart? You have to remove the dross—get of the encasing clutter—and polish it to shine. “I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” Psalm 34:4-5. I taught Moses the blessing that Aaron as High Priest was to say over the people. Do you remember? “LORD make your face shine upon us.” When My face shines on you, then you shine back. And the dullness is gone. Shine on the world like bright lights, holding fast to and holding forth the Word of Life. My Word will make you shine. Remember? It made Moses’ face radiant when he spent time with Me hearing My Words.
The moon is a reflection of the sun’s light, and the full moon occurs when the world does not get in the way. As long as you are dwelling on the cares and anxieties of the world it will get in the way of and eclipse My Light from shining in your heart. “For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6.
Jesus is the Light of the world. No follower of His will ever walk in darkness but will have the Light of life. In My Light you see Light and the dull darkness is lifted. “Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples; but the LORD will rise upon you and His glory will appear upon you.” Isaiah 60:1-2.
A dull heart is not sensitive to My lovingkindness. That is why I cannot heal those with dull hearts. They do not know and believe in the love I have for them and they push Me away, even seek to destroy My work in their lives, as the Pharisees did with Jesus.
A dull heart is darkened in unbelief. “The eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is clear, your whole body also is full of light; but when it is bad, your body also is full of darkness. Then watch out that the light in you is not darkness. If therefore your whole body is full of light, with no dark part in it, it will be wholly illumined, as when the lamp illumines you with its rays.” Luke 11:34-36.
Herod had a dull heart. I gave him amazing favor. I sent him John the Baptist and I sent him Jesus. But he was so focused on his own glory, his power, the lust of his flesh, and his reputation among his court that even though he felt a curiosity and a pull towards the supernatural, he did not follow through with it. He tried so hard to hang onto his own power that he finally lost it. He who seeks only himself will bring himself to ruin. Why? You are not your own source and you cannot maintain that. I told Adam if he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil he would die the death. He tried to cut off from Me and run his life as his own god, but he was not.
Solomon started off with a hearing heart. He asked Me for that. When I told him to ask Me for anything he wanted, he asked Me for a heart that hears. For he knew if he could hear from Me, he would have wisdom. He understood I was the source of wisdom and that My Words were life and health to those who found them. But later in life, his great wealth and great wisdom turned his eyes away from Me onto himself and the desires of his flesh, and he denied himself nothing. “I enlarged my works: I built houses for myself, I planted vineyards for myself; I made gardens and parks for myself and I planted in them all kinds of fruit trees; I made ponds of water for myself from which to irrigate a forest of growing trees. I bought male and female slaves and I had homeborn slaves. Also I possessed flocks and herds larger than all who preceded me in Jerusalem. Also, I collected for myself silver and gold and the treasure of kings and provinces. I provided for myself male and female singers and the pleasures of men—many concubines. Then I became great and increased more than all who preceded me in Jerusalem. My wisdom also stood by me. All that my eyes desired I did not refuse them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure, for my heart was pleased because of all my labor and this was my reward for all my labor. Thus I considered all my activities which my hands had done and the labor which I had exerted, and behold all was vanity and striving after wind and there was no profit under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 2:4-11. Did you see? Everything he did was only for himself, and this brought him to the place where he despised it all.
His heart was not wholly devoted to Me, as the heart of David his father had been. His heart became dull and he went after and worshipped idols, Solomon did what was evil in My sight and did not follow Me fully, as David his father had done. Solomon because his heart was turned away from Me, who had appeared to him twice, and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he did not observe what I had commanded. 1 Kings His heart had become dull. 1 Kings 11:1-10. And do you see how it happened? He was no longer looking at Me, like he had when he built a magnificent house for Me. He was radiant. But when he only built for himself, it lost purpose and he was no longer radiant with joy. It all became vanity.
Just like with Adam. What had been a delight became toil and the glory was gone. He was naked.
I love you. With all diligence, guard your heart, for from it flow the issues of life. Keep your eyes on Jesus and you will walk on water, but if you take your eyes off Him and look only at yourself, you will sink. Keep your heart shining before Me by keeping in My light. Sing with David, “You alone light my lamp, O LORD, you illumine my darkness.” Psalm 18:28.
