Abraham said, “God will provide (see) for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” Genesis 22:8.
Abraham called the name of that place Yahweh Yireh (the LORD will see (provide)), as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the LORD it will be provided.” Genesis 22:14.
He redeems your life from the pit. Psalm 103:4.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
I know what you need before you ask Me. I see the provision before you do. But to receive it, you must open your eyes to see as I do and you must take it. I always see provision, abundant provision, I do not see lack. When Abraham sent Hagar and Ishmael away, she departed and wandered about in the wilderness of Beersheba. When the water in the skin Abraham had given her upon departure was used up, she lifted up her voice and wept. I see and I hear. I told Hagar not to fear, to arise and I would make a great nation of Ishmael. Then I opened her eyes and she saw a well of water; and she went and filled the skin with water and gave Ishmael a drink. And I was with Ishmael and he grew and became an archer. And he and Hagar prospered. Genesis 21:14-21.
Do not be like those who only look for solutions from the world, from mere flesh and blood, who trust in their own strength and whose hearts turn away and do not seek Me, for they are like a bush in the desert that does not see when prosperity comes, but will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, a land of salt without inhabitant. Jeremiah 17:5-6. For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, to hew for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water. Jeremiah 2:13.
But Blessed is the man who trusts Me, whose heart is turned towards Me and looks to and relies on Me to give Him solutions and provision. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaves will be green. It will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8.
As we continue our series on knowing My Name we will look at a Name that Abraham gave Me upon revelation at a turning point in his life. It is a Name that should be of great comfort and encouragement to you. It is Yahweh Yireh. The LORD will provide.
I preached the Gospel to Abraham ahead of time. Galatians 3:8. I showed Abraham the day of Jesus, he saw it and rejoiced. John 8:56. And do you know when I showed it to him? On Mt. Moriah where he went to sacrifice his son, Isaac, as a burnt offering. But he had no fear, he knew it was through Isaac that his descendants would be called.
As he and Isaac approached the mountain on the donkey with two of his men, Genesis 22:3 (just as Jesus did on Palm Sunday: “When He approached Bethphage and Bethany, near the mount that is called Olivet, He sent two of the disciples, saying, “Go into the village ahead of you; there, as you enter, you will find a donkey tied on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here. Luke 19:29-30), he raised his eyes on the third day and saw the place. Genesis 22:4. He left the young men and the donkey, put the wood on Isaac’s shoulder and told the two men that he and Isaac would return after they worshipped on the mountain. Genesis 22:5. The third day signifies resurrection.
As Isaac carried the wood up the hill (as Jesus did on His way up to the hill of Golgotha), he asked Abraham a question, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” Abraham said, “God will provide (see) for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” Genesis 22:7-8. This was a revelation about My Son, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. When John the Baptist identified Jesus under this name he was proclaiming the fulfillment of the prophecy of Abraham. Abraham was a prophet. I told Abimelech that. Genesis 20:7.
Isaac was of the corrupted seed of Adam; he could not take away the sins of the world. But Abraham knew I would see and provide for that. And I did. In Jesus, but the immediate solution for substitution for his son where Abraham was in time was the animal sacrifice that I credited to those in covenant with Me as a sin offering until such time as My Son would pay off the debt in full that was incurred on credit by faith.
So just when Abraham was ready to slaughter his beloved son, I had the provision there already. I had seen an unblemished ram approaching and at just the right moment in time the sheep was caught in the thicket. I spoke out to Abraham to cease the sacrifice of his son and opened his eyes to the provision. Abraham raised his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered him up for a burnt offering in the place of his son. Genesis 22:13-14. When I send the provision, you must see it and seize it. Don’t miss your visitation.
Abraham called the name of that place “The LORD Will Provide,” as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the LORD it will be provided.” Genesis 22:14. Yes, Calvary is a mountain of Moriah and Abraham was right across from it on the mountain that became temple mount. He rejoiced when he saw the Day of Jesus by revelation. He saw as I saw, which is seeing provision. Seeing solutions. Seeing the answer.
Now let us consider the words in Hebrew of this aspect of My Name and you will see what I am referring to.
The Name consists of My covenant Name יְהוָ֣ה as the source. I AM, I WAS, AND I AM TO COME. It is My memorial, timeless but timely, Name. I will always be your provider, your healer, your righteousness, your peace, and all the other wonderful Names that rise on this one. My eyes see all places, all peoples, and all eternity and time. All are alive to Me. We already went over the letters and their meanings of Yahweh in Life Lesson No. 1 of this series, for to know Me, you must know Me as Yahweh. Then you know you are NEVER alone. You are never away from Me in reality, even if you rebel and turn away. If you turn back and seek Me, you will find Me with you.
The next Word in My Name of provider is Yireh (יִרְאֶ֑ה) this is a future tense in the first person of the verb raah (רָאָה), which means “to see.” People refer to it as “provide” in this context, and rightly so, but you lose the full meaning if you do not know that provision has to do with seeing as I do. And Abraham used this same word when he answered Isaac, “God will provide (see)( יִרְאֶ֑ה) for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” Genesis 22:7-8. I saw the Lamb slain since before the foundation of the world. Know that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. For He was foreknown by Me before the foundation of the world, but appeared in these last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in Me as your God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in Me, Yahweh. 1 Peter 1:18-21. I already saw the solution for Adam’s sin before he ever did it. It does not mean he had to do it, no, not at all! That was his choice and I told him not to do it for I knew the consequences but he did it of his own volition anyway. Be careful how you walk, redeeming the time, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. 2 Peter 1:10. Work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for I AM at work in you, both to will and to work for our good pleasure, and you will receive a lavish reception into the eternal kingdom of your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Philippians 2:12-13; 2 Peter 1:11.
And all this has to do with provision. I will complete the good work I have begun in you. Philippians 1:6. I prepared a life of good deeds for you in advance in Christ Jesus and all you need for life and godliness I have supplied already for you in Christ. 2 Peter 1:3; Ephesians 2:10. Know that I will provide and stop stressing and looking to other sources. It has bad results, as Adam and Eve discovered and as Abraham and Sarah discovered with Hagar. I am the one who sanctifies you in truth by My Word, John 17:17, stick with My Word so that you may preserve your spirit and soul and body complete, without blame at the coming of your Lord Jesus Christ. I am faithful and I have called you, so I will bring it to pass. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24. Above all, guard your heart, for from it flow the issues of life. Hide, treasure, ponder upon My Word in your heart and you will not go off the course I have planned for your life.
Daniel knew, when he needed the interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream so that he and the king’s advisors would not be put to death, that he could rely on Me to provide that to him. And I did. But he prayed and inquired and had his friends who knew My Word join with him in a prayer of agreement. He then did not stress that he was destined to be put to death if he did not get an answer. He went to bed for the night and I revealed it to him as he slept. I give to My beloved even in their sleep. Great peace have those whose minds are stayed on Me—they have the double shalom of My rest which you can have also if you cast all your cares on Me and then have no anxiety about getting the provision you need, like Daniel. And this also got him through the den of hungry lions without a scratch and his three faith friends through a fiery furnace without even coming out smelling like smoke. I provided an angel for Daniel and I provided a fourth man, who came from Heaven, in the fire that shepherded and sheltered the three Hebrew friends of Daniel. I see the solution and I provide it just when you need it.
So come with confidence to My throne of grace and RECEIVE (take it, it is there for you) mercy and FIND grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16. You will find it already there. Don’t beg for it, receive your inheritance for it is kept for you in Heaven so moths and rust cannot corrode it and the thief cannot break in and steal it. Jesus cast him off the throne of the son of man when He returned to Me having conquered sin and death as one like you.
I have blessed you with every spiritual blessing in Heaven already in Jesus Christ. Don’t be searching in the world like a scavenger looking for left-overs of the wicked when I have set a table before you in the sight of your foes. Isn’t it time you took possession of your possessions and stopped going around the same mountain? I have provided the way for you and opened to you the treasure of My Kingdom. Luke 12:32. It has pleased Me to give it to you, My little flock of the great good Shepherd whom I raised from the dead by the blood of the eternal covenant, with all you need to equip you for every good and perfect work. Hebrews 13:20-21.
It is time to lift up your eyes and see what I see. I had to tell Abraham more than once to lift up his eyes to see the provision I had for him. And when he finally saw it as I did, it took his breath away in wonder and awe. The same with David, all he could keep asking was, “Who am I, O Lord LORD, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?” 2 Samuel 7:18. Do you see your life that way? If not, today I have introduced Myself to you as I really am, Yahweh Yireh. I have supplied for all of your needs in advance according to My riches in glory in Christ Jesus. It is time you called upon Yahweh Yireh. And I do not just the bare essentials, I am lavish with the redemption and grace I pour on you.
Just think about My abundances that you see in the truth of My Word so that you can understand provision better. The Israelites asked for meat in the desert and I brought quail in on a strong wind and the quail fell down three feet high around the camp and a day’s journey out in each direction around the camp. Numbers 11:31. They asked for bread, and I had manna fall on the camp every morning on the dewfall (and twice as much the day before Shabbat) for over 40 years. Mary told Jesus they had no more wine and I made 180 gallons of water into the finest wine (6 stone water jars holding 30 gallons each). When the crowd was hungry, Jesus multiplied 5 loaves and 2 fish into enough to satisfy the hunger of 5,000 men plus their wives and children with 12 huge baskets full of the bread and fish left over. Peter and Andrew had caught no fish all night and Jesus told them to go out and put their nets down for a catch and so many fish came into those nets that they were breaking and the fish filled two boats until they nearly sank. And I smiled.
And when I decided to make stars and planets to shed light on the earth and I made galaxies and stars beyond what any human or computer can count. Yet I call each one by name. I decided to make fruit trees and have you ever tried to determine how many different kinds of fruit there are in the world? And if you will tithe and make offerings, I promise to open the windows of Heaven and pour out a blessing you cannot contain. Overflow. I am love and love is lavish. And I lavish love and grace on you. I do not just forgive you one or two sins, no, I put them ALL on Jesus and made you holy, blameless and without reproach before Me and remember your sins and offenses NO MORE.
I see you, I see all your needs, but before I can fill them you must call Me into your life and authorize Me to be your provider and your King. And you can only come through receiving Jesus. I have PROVIDED you a new and living way to come to Me in total confidence that I will say “yes” to you and give you all My magnificent promises, and that way is confessing with your mouth that JESUS IS LORD and believing in your heart I raised Him from the dead. Have you done that? It is time you did since I have provided it for you without cost, you have only to receive Him.
I love you. I AM THE ONE WHO SEES THE PROVISION and gives it to those who will see it with Me and agree.
Have you noticed the order I am teaching the aspects of My Name to you now? Look at Psalm 103 and forget not all My benefits: I forgive all your sins (the LORD your righteousness), I heal all your ills (the LORD your Healer), I redeem your life from the pit (the LORD will see and provide), and the next benefit is that I surround you with love and compassion, can you guess what that on will be?
