For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
My Word is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12. In the Greek language in which this passage was written the word for “two-edged” sword is “dístomos,” which means “two-mouthed.” In Hebrew also, when I speak of the “two-edged” sword, “Let the godly ones exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouths, and a two-edged sword in their hand,” Psalm 149:5-6, the word is “piphiyyoth” or “pipah” (פִיפִיָּה) which is from the word “peh,” meaning mouth. Every fact is to be confirmed by the testimony of two or three witnesses. 2 Corinthians 13:1.
When you speak in agreement with My Words it is established by two witnesses in your life by My Word and your word. That is why I call Jesus the High Priest of your confession. But the translation to the word “confession” or “profession” does not convey the same meaning to you as the Greek word in which it was written. The word used there is “homologia,” which means speaking the same word in complete agreement. I watch over My Word to perform it, Jeremiah 1:12, and it does not return to Me void but achieves the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11. I send you the Word you need to heal and deliver you (Psalm 107:20) and when you agree and return it you establish it in the earth. “I have put My Words in your mouth and have covered you with the shadow of My hand, to plant the heavens and to establish the earth.” Isaiah 51:16. You have used your dominion authority in agreement with My Word of power and have released it into your life and into the earth. This is what covenant with Me is about. It is like a marriage where we join as one spirit to partner together so that you can enjoy My protection and all My magnificent promises and benefits by releasing them into your life and the lives of others to manifest My Kingdom on the earth.
“As for Me, this is My covenant with them,” says the LORD: “My Spirit which is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring’s offspring,” says the LORD, “from now and forever.” Isaiah 59:21.
But you need to speak them and establish them because, as Jesus told Pilate, My Kingdom is not reigning on earth as yet. You are in the world, but if you have joined in Covenant with Me through Jesus, then you are not of the world. You have been born again from on High as a citizen of another Kingdom, which is coming, but is not yet establish upon the earth. Why is it so important to speak them? Because there is another kingdom that has taken way to much territory on earth and the ruler of that realm of darkness will do anything he can to maintain and take new territory by deception. And he traps the unwary by lies. I do not want you to be unaware of his schemes but I have given you the only weapon that will take him down and pierce him through. You can go even farther when you get skillful with the Sword and can cut open the dragon’s belly and let out the cargoes he is holding—“cargoes of gold and silver and precious stones and pearls and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet, and every kind of citron wood and every article of ivory and every article made from very costly wood and bronze and iron and marble, and cinnamon and spice and incense and perfume and frankincense and wine and olive oil and fine flour and wheat and cattle and sheep, and cargoes of horses and chariots and bodies and souls of people.” Revelation 18:12-13.
That is why with My armor I give you the Sword of the Spirit, and I define it for you so there is no question to what I am referring, “and take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:17. And then I tell you how to use it, “through all prayer and petition praying at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:18. You notice that I pair the helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit together, and there is a reason for this: your mouth speaks whatever is filling your mind. As a man thinks, so is he. With Me, I know your thoughts from afar and before a word is on your tongue I know the whole of it. Psalm 139:2-4. But the same is not true of the devil, he only knows if you have taken his thought (fiery dart) if you speak it with your mouth, or if, watching you countenance and posture he can denote that you are reacting to the thought or influence he sent you.
People act like the devil is omniscient and omnipresent but he is not. However, he is not limited by space and time as you are. He and his demons can roam and patrol the earth in seconds but they focus on those who are leaders in government, business, education and the entertainment industry so they can influence a wider majority of people and nations.
But there is no fury like the devil has against a Spirit-filled believer who is checking him in intercessory prayer for those leaders and will not give in to the devil’s thoughts or tactics. Jesus was one person but the devil himself came to tempt him because he saw the purity of holiness and the unshakeable loyalty to Me that resulted in nothing but My Word proceeding from His mouth.
The devil had taken down, or had at least one success with, some of the best, such as Adam, Samson, Eli, David, Solomon, and the Pharisees, but he never could do anything with Jesus. Jesus is My faithful witness. With Jesus it was checkmate every game. And that is why the apostle John saw Jesus in his visions of the Kingdom of Heaven at the end time battles with a sword proceeding out of His mouth. And that is the only weapon He needs to win the battle that throws the devil into the abyss and shuts down all his demons for a thousand years. Revelation 19:15-21. And that is the only weapon you need, and in fact, it is the only weapon that will work, to check the devil every time, all the time. But you cannot let go of it or let it go slack. You have to answer the devil every time or he will take territory and take advantage of you.
The devil imitates Me but in a perverted way of evil, but he tries to counterfeit to take down the unwary. His godless doctrines copy the order of My creation and he is bold with declarations. He made faith declarations to take a throne in Heaven but it did not work, I cast him down. Faith declarations only work using My Word. However, he used Adam and Eve as a shield against Me to take their seat of dominion authority, but Jesus took it back. He uses terms such as “choice” and “equality” to push results that are not choice but are actually being taken captive to do his will to steal, kill and destroy, and “equality” to enslave you to perverted lifestyles and promotion of self through pride. But the one that seeks only his flesh brings himself to ruin. The devil will try to make you take your belly (flesh, emotions, physical focus only) as your god and greed as your focus. But these will never bless your life or bring you joy, on the contrary they will destroy you.
And his words are like sword thrusts. They wound you and the hearer when you speak them. “There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” Proverbs 12:18. And it will be your demise: “If you are willing and obey, you will eat the best of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.” Isaiah 1:19-20. Death and life are in the hand of your tongue. Proverbs 18:21. Make sure the hand of your tongue is equipped with My Sword and not the devil’s.
When a thought comes to your mind, test it. If is obviously against My Word and commandments, answer it immediately with the Word that it contradicts. But most of his thoughts are more subtle than that, such as when he tempted Jesus. He even quoted Scripture but it was used in the wrong context, it was not protection for things you initiate that are against My Will, but protection from things that the devil brings against you. And I might add that this temptation that he presented to Jesus about throwing Himself down from the parapet of the temple to prove My Word that the angels would catch Him from Psalm 91 was taken out of context for the very next line says that you will trample the lion and the serpent underfoot, but he did not quote that!
With respect to these more hidden thoughts he hits you with that seem often to come from you or Me, first consider what influence they exert upon you. If it is from Me it will bring revelation, light, peace, joy, and will touch your heart, even if it is correction and direction. If a thought puts you into fear, worry, confusion, sensuality, pride, anger, hate, jealousy, bitterness, resentment, depression, hopelessness, loneliness, lust, or darkness know it is not from Me and you must not entertain it.
But in any case you must answer these thoughts and influences, for in chess if you do not check the enemy king he can keep advancing across the board to take the pieces of your life into his stronghold.
So how do you use the Sword of the Spirit? Always look for My Word on the subject of the temptation and then you will be skillful to wield the Sword. You notice Jesus answered with “It is written . . .” and quoted the exact Word that applied. If you do not know My Words and have not been diligent about reading, hearing, meditating upon, speaking and doing My Words you will not be skillful with the Sword and will miss the mark most of the time. People who do not know My Word do not know My Will and attribute things done by the devil to steal, kill, and destroy are attributed to My “mysterious” Will. This grieves Me because I am quite clear about what is the blessing, which is My Will, and what is the curse, which is not My Will. Jesus died to give you the blessing and redeem you from the curse, so why would I put the curse on you? Never. But if you don’t know you are redeemed from the curse, which is sickness, pain, lack, and eternal death, you will accept these fiery missiles from the devil.
As I said, in the book of Revelation you see the sharp two-edged Sword in the mouth of My Son. Revelation 1:16; Revelation 2:12. Why? He told you. He never spoke on His own initiative but only said My Words for they are words of eternal life. My Words are not idle words, they are your very life. Jesus was an expert at wielding the Sword of the Spirit and, as a consequence, the devil found NO PLACE in Him. My Words have My power in them. I AM My Word. John 1:1. All other words fall to the ground, but Mine do not. My Word, like the two-edged sword, runs through things swiftly laying bare the thoughts and motives of the heart.
When you remain in My Word and My Word remains in you, then you become one with My Word and the Sword is part of you, just like Jesus, it is what is coming out of your mouth to take down the schemes of the enemy. Do you remember the mighty men of David? Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there to battle and the men of Israel had withdrawn, he arose and struck the Philistines until his hand was weary and clung to the sword, and the LORD brought about a great victory that day. He kept striking with the sword until every enemy went down and sword then was cleaved to his hand as one. 2 Samuel 23:9-10. And all that was left to do was gather up the spoil. The wealth of the wicked is stored up for the righteous.
“Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does. If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.” James 1:21-26.
I love you. Take up the Sword of the Spirit and never put it down, a vision of you in the spirit should show the Sword as what is coming out of your mouth and that alone. Pure precious agreement with My Words by faith, that is, line all your words up in agreement with Mine and you will have a free and victorious life.
