“I will stand on my guard post and station myself on the rampart; and I will keep watch to see what He will speak to me, and how I may reply when I am reproved.” Habakkuk 2:1.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
When you are being attacked by Satan, he will make things appear complicated, even impossible, overwhelming, and get you into confusion so you are waffling back and forth like a churning sea. And the only way you are going to get out of confusion, for I am not a God of confusion but of perfect peace, is by hearing from Me, then all the confusion falls off. You need the Word for the moment. Not just any Scripture that you find that seems to have a solution in it, but the Word that I have for you for that moment. The Holy Spirit guides you to all truth and reminds you of what I have said. And what does He remind you of? The Word that applies to answer your need at that moment. And if you will take that Word, write it down, and run with it, you will have perfect peace and all will turn out well.
You honor Me when you care enough to listen to Me. You know that in your own relations with people. If they talk over you when you try to talk and take over the conversation without giving you a chance to express your input into the situation, they dishonor you by not treating your input as valuable, rather they treat it as having no merit.
And I honor those who honor Me. You listen to Me, I listen to you, and if you will do what I tell you, you will have your miracle. Mary, the humble virgin of Nazareth, listened to My Word and she took it to heart and agreed and obeyed with joy. She sang of the great honor and value I gave her. And she continued to ponder and treasure every Word I gave her and act upon it. And later, when her desire was to help out the bride and groom at a wedding feast, she spoke about it to Jesus, and even though it was not what He was planning on doing, He listened to her, and then she told the servants to listen to Him and to do whatever He told them. And they followed her advice and did what seemed highly unlikely to succeed and had a miracle. You notice she did not tell the servants what to do, she told them to listen to Jesus and do whatever He said. And that is what she would tell you for every need and situation.
And that is today’s Life Lesson in what to do when Satan attacks, “Seek the Word of the LORD for the moment.”
When trouble comes or a question arises, do not answer too quickly and take off in every direction, or even just in one direction, “there is a way that seems right in the eyes of a man but ends in death.” Proverbs 14:12. First step aside and listen to see what I have to say and when you get the Word from Me you can release your faith and go forward with confidence. Blessed are your ears because they hear.
Listeners put a demand on Me by faith. My prophet Habakkuk did this to hear from Me, “I will stand on my guard post and station myself on the rampart; and I will keep watch to see what He will speak to me, and how I may reply when I am reproved.” Habakkuk 2:1. And when you come to listen, I answer. Call on Me and I will answer you and tell you great and mighty things you could not know. Jeremiah 33:3. “Then the LORD answered me and said, ‘Record the vision and inscribe it on tablets, that the one who reads it may run.’” Habakkuk 2:2. Once you have heard from Me, you can run with it with confidence and no confusion, even though you have not been that way before. “For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail.” Habakkuk 2:3. But even if there seems to be delay, such as the pain and symptoms keep recurring, or the building project seems to have come to a standstill, do not draw back. Do not throw away your confidence it has great reward. “Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay. Behold, as for the proud one, his soul is not right within him; but the righteous will live by faith.” Habakkuk 2:3.
And when you are given your Word, do not reject it. Naaman was a captain of the army of the king of Aram and he was a great man with his master, and highly respected, because by him I had given victory to Aram. The man was also a valiant warrior, but he had leprosy. After hearing that he could be healed if he came to Elisha the prophet in Israel, his king sent him to be healed. So Naaman came with his horses and his chariots and stood at the doorway of the house of Elisha. Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you and you will be clean.” And that was My Word for Naaman to have his miracle. But Naaman was proud and he felt that Elisha had not shown him proper honor. So he was furious and went away and said, “Behold, I said, ‘He will surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper.’ Are not Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage. 2 Kings 5:1-12. Do not decide you know the Word that I send to heal you and deliver you better than I do. I resist the proud but give grace to the humble. But Naaman had servants who loved him and they convinced him to humble himself and do the Word Elisha had given him. So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the Word of Elisha, and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child and he was clean. 2 Kings 5:14. And when he returned to give thanks, Elisha came out to greet him. Humility comes before honor. Proverbs 15:33; 18:12.
As a disciple, your business is to follow Me. As sheep, your business is to follow the Shepherd. In walking a way you have not gone before, your business is to follow the guide. And I, your Father, My Son, and My Spirit all lead, guide, and direct you in the same way: By the Word. My Word is the way, the truth, and the life.
And blessed are you who have believed what I say to you will be fulfilled. For it will. Shama shama. Pray, listen and obey and I will open the Way to Blessing. “It shall come to pass, if you (shama shama) diligently listen to and obey the voice of the LORD your God, to (shamar – guard) observe carefully to do all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth and all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you (shama) listen to and obey the voice of the LORD your God.” Deuteronomy 28:1-2. I am honored when listen to and obey My Words. But it all starts with listening for the Word I am speaking to you for that moment. I always have the Word in due season.
“A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, and a word spoken in due season, how good it is!” Proverbs 15:23. Be answering the devil with My Word and you will have joy unspeakable filled with glory. When depression or sadness engulfs our soul do not back down and cry. Put your praise boots on and trample the snake underfoot. Start shouting and singing in tongues and you will bump up to hearing from Me. You come into My presence with a joyful shout. That honors Me. Be excited to hear what I have to tell you.
Why do you think your life is not wonderful? It is. The one whose Name is wonderful is in you, your hope of glory. Shout about that.
Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah understood this. When the enemy came to attack them, they came to the Temple to get an answer to help them. They put a demand on Me to hear from Me. “For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” Now all Judah, with their little ones, their wives, and their children, stood before Me waiting to hear. 2 Chronicles 20: 12-13. And when you call I answer and tell you great and mighty things you could not know. And I did, “Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly. And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel. You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.” 2 Chronicles 20:14-16. And what did Jehoshaphat and the people do? They praised and obeyed. “And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem bowed before the Lord, worshiping the LORD. Then the Levites of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with voices loud and high.” 2 Chronicles 20:18-19. And they obeyed and a tremendous miracle took place for their deliverance.
The devil tries to get you not interested in and dishonoring My Word. Tries to make you think it is devoid of power, but he knows far better and he fears My Word and anyone who uses it. It crushes his head, that is, breaks his deception and that is all he has. Lies. Lying dishonors Me. Do not do it for it is of the devil.
Saul dishonored Me and finally he could no longer hear from Me.
David honored Me extravagantly and he heard from Me.
Samuel sought to hear Me, “Speak LORD for your servant is listening.” And Samuel had an extraordinary life of revelation and strength. We discussed things.
“Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, Until He has mercy on us.” Psalm 123:2.
I will draw you into the wilderness and speak to your heart. Jesus went out early to deserted places to pray. He honored Me. And I have honored Him.
And how do you know you have received your Word? First it is like something dropped down in your soul that is meant to be there. It is like the right number of coins dropping down into the vending machine and out comes what you ordered. It gives you peace and it makes you bold.
I love you. Learn how to listen and not just do all the talking. You will miss out if that is the case.
