When Jesus came into Peter’s house, He saw his mother-in-law lying sick in bed with a fever. He touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she got up and waited on Him. When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill. This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: “He Himself took our infirmities and carried away our diseases.” Matthew 8:14-17.

Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:

Do you feel the wind of the Spirit filling your sails? It is time to launch out to the deep for a catch. The time is now. The place is where you are and deep calls unto deep.

There is a time and place for everything and it is already stored in My flask, waiting to be poured out as perfumed oil to anoint the one called for that hour. You are called for this hour. Do not neglect so great a calling. It is time to release the Kingdom of Heaven upon the earth.

When I had a mission for Saul as the first king of Israel, I sent Samuel, My prophet, with a flask of oil to pour out on him to prophesy and for kingship. And then he despised that anointing by seeking only his own glory in disobedience to My Word and it stopped pouring—the Spirit on him departed from him. 1 Samuel 16:14. But I sent Samuel with the flask of oil to Bethlehem for I had found David who would carry out My every wish and Samuel anointed him in the midst of his brethren. And the Spirit rushed upon David and never departed from him. His heart for Me, despite the weakness of his flesh, never turned away from Me as Saul’s had and later Solomon’s would. David valued the anointing above life and sought it. And he honored Saul because he had been anointed.

And now I anoint you, Jesus pours the Holy Spirit out from Heaven upon you and I pour My love into your heart by the gift of the Holy Spirit. Do not despise the anointing as Saul did. I have made you joint heirs with Christ, the double portion of the first born is yours in Him, do not despise it as Essau did and make your god your belly. Hold the anointing in high esteem, do nothing to quench and grieve the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit of the Lord LORD is upon you, I have anointed you to preach, teach, heal, and bring all to the new birth. To do the works of Jesus and greater works than those. It is time to invade earth with the Kingdom and release healing on all oppressed by the devil.

We are looking at the miracles of Jesus while He walked upon the earth as one like you in all things but sin. We are continuing to look at the miracles in the gospel according to Matthew. We have considered the healing of the man full of leprosy and of the centurion’s servant boy, and immediately following that we find the healing of Peter’s mother in law of a severe fever. This miracle is recounted in the gospels according to Matthew, Mark, and Luke and each one gives us another insight into the importance of what you can learn here about receiving and administering healing.

Let us begin with what took place at Peter’s home which was very close to the synagogue in Capernaum.

And so we begin, “When Jesus came into Peter’s house, He saw his mother-in-law lying sick in bed with a fever.” Matthew 8:14. We find more detail in the gospels of Mark and Luke. “And immediately after they came out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever; and immediately they spoke to Jesus about her.” Mark 1:29-30. Here we see they were coming from the Synagogue in Capernaum where Jairus was the leader and where Jesus had just cast a demon out of a man before the astonished crowd. Mark 1:21-28. And now they came to Peter’s house and those with him spoke to Jesus about her sickness and fever. And Luke, being a physician, adds more, “Then Jesus got up and left the synagogue, and entered Simon’s home. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Him to help her.” Luke 4:38. Luke adds that it was a “high” fever, one that was causing them considerable concern

What follows was Jesus in action, and when you see Him, you see Me. He did the works I showed Him and said the Words I told Him. Matthew shares that Jesus then reached out and “touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she got up and waited on Him.” Matthew 8:15. The moment Jesus touched her hand the fever left her, and she responded immediately by getting up to serve Him. What a wonderful example of how to respond to a healing, take up your life to serve Me—to plant the Kingdom on earth in gratitude and appreciation.

“Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.” Colossians 2:6-7.

And Jesus later told you who believe in His Name to lay your hands on the sick and they will recover.

Mark elaborates a little more, “And He came to her and raised her up, taking her by the hand, and the fever left her, and she served them.” Mark 1:30. Here we see after touching her hand, He took hold of it and raised her up and the fever left her. Jesus pulled her out of the bed. And that is what He does for you as well. “Awake sleeper, and Christ will give you light. Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:14-16. And again we see her grateful response of service.

And Luke, the physician, gives us another piece of information which imparts a revelation to you of the power of answering the things with which the devil tries to oppress you. “And standing over her, Jesus rebuked the fever, and it left her; and she immediately got up and served them.” Luke 4:39. Jesus spoke to the fever, He rebuked it, and it left her. If the devil brings a sickness, fever, financial hardship, pain, depression, worry or any other unclean thing upon you, you must rebuke it, you must answer it with the truth and then tell that unclean spirit to be gone and Satan as well. Rebuke it with the truth of My Word and then kick it out. And then worship, that is, serve and minister unto Me. And that will put you in the flow of Heaven so that the unclean spirit cannot return with seven worse.

If you or your children have illness or fever come upon you, do not panic and speak dire results or fear. Simply command it off their bodies and yours. And it will leave if you speak with the authority of faith. And do not forget the laying on of hands, but that does not take the place of speaking to it as well.

The people of Capernaum were so excited about the miracle they had seen Jesus perform that day in the synagogue with such authority over the unclean spirit that they learned where he was and “when evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill. This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: “He Himself took our infirmities and carried away our diseases.” Matthew 8:14-17. Jesus cast out the demon spirits with a word. And He told you many times that He only spoke My Word, so you see here how to cast demons and all their influences out of your life—with My Word. My Word spoken cleanses you and purifies you. It transforms you by the renewing of your mind. And since they are angelic beings they must obey the voice of My Word, even in your mouth. Never underestimate the power of My Word. If you really knew it, you would use it more and make sure that you meditated on it day and night. Jesus sustains the entire universe by My Word of power and I have put My Words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of My hand to plant heaven on the earth. And that evening all were there with faith, and Jesus healed them all. He fulfilled that great prophesy of Isaiah that Jesus would bear you sickness and take your pains. When you are in Christ, it is no longer your sickness or your pain, He took it away from you so you have no business accepting it when the devil tries to oppress you with it. You must rebuke it.

Mark fills in a few more details, “when evening came, after the sun had set, they began bringing to Him all who were ill and those who were demon-possessed. And the whole city had gathered at the door. And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.” Mark 1:32-34. This was a large crowd and they were gathered at the door of the house. You see here that the work of healing includes both mental harassment of the devil and physical illness. And He shows you what to do with the devil and his demons, carry on no conversation with them, just tell them to be quiet and get out. Eve made the mistake of entering into conversation with the devil and she got deceived by his lying words.

And Luke, the physician, tells us more about the way in which healings were happening that evening, “While the sun was setting, all those who had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and laying His hands on each one of them, He was healing them. Demons also were coming out of many, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But rebuking them, He would not allow them to speak, because they knew Him to be the Christ.” Luke 4:40-41. All sickness and disease is caused by demonic unclean spirits, so they showed up but Jesus rebuked them to silence. In this passage from the gospel of Luke, you see the townspeople brought all who were sick with various diseases and Jesus laid hands on each one of them and healed them. Jesus did not just treat them like a crowd but as individuals and He had a word for each one as He laid hands on them. And this took most of the night, and yet, following this incident of healing, “in the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.” Mark 1:35. And Luke writes similarly, “When day came, Jesus left and went to a secluded place; and the crowds were searching for Him, and came to Him and tried to keep Him from going away from them. But He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for I was sent for this purpose.” Luke 4:42-43.

No matter how much you have been speaking of Me and doing My work, nothing substitutes for or takes the place of time alone with Me where you speak to Me and I speak to you and it is there you have the strength and wisdom to continue your assignment. You come aside for fresh anointing. “But You have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil.” Psalm 92:10. “You set a table before me in the sight of my foes; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” Psalm 23:5-6.

I love you and I have anointed you and appointed you for just such a time as this. Do you not perceive it? I am doing something new. Be part of it.
