He sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalm 107:20.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
Covenant people are people of the Word.
Jesus came to the Jewish people and was born from the line of Abraham because they were in Covenant with Me, they were the keepers of My Word. Those He healed and/or delivered He justified His actions in so doing by calling them daughters and sons of Abraham.
Those who were not in Covenant with Me, such as the Syrophoenician woman, He could not give the children’s bread to them unless they entered the Covenant of Abraham by faith in His Word. He came to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. People of Covenant.
But I so loved the world I gave My only begotten Son that all who believe in Him (and He is My Word made flesh) will never perish but have eternal life. I am offering the New Covenant with Jesus to all the world so the blessing of Abraham and the promise of the Spirit may come to all who have faith in My Word, Jesus. A redeemed people, once without Me (not knowing My Word, for I am My Word) and My covenants of promise, but now with Me always in My New Covenant of the promise of eternal life.
I had made a covenant promise to Abraham, sworn by Myself, that his seed would possess the gate of His enemies and in his seed ALL the nations of the earth would be blessed, because Abraham had obeyed My spoken Word. Genesis 22:15-18. And I fulfilled those promises in the seed foretold to Adam and Eve, and spoken to the devil in the Garden of Eden.
“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall crush your head, and you shall bruise him on the heel.” Genesis 3:15.
Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as referring to many, but rather to one, “And to your seed,” that is, Christ. What I am saying is this: the Law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise. Galatians 3:16-17.
And that seed was the incorruptible seed of My Word which took flesh in the womb of the virgin Mary, of the line of David of the line of Abraham, and abiding in Nazareth. And My Word became flesh and dwelt among you and you have all seen His glory, glory as of My only begotten, full of grace and truth. John 1:14.
When Jesus told parables, He told them as to people of the Covenant. And when He taught them, such as the Sermon on the Mount, He taught them as people of the Covenant, that is, as people who knew My Word. He would speak of the prophets, of the law, of Abraham, of Moses, of Jonah, of David, of Solomon, of Elijah and Elisha, and of the commandments. He was talking to a people who knew My Word. These were family.
And if they understood what He was telling them, agreed, and did His Words, He called them disciples, and, ultimately, friends as well.
So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:31-32.
You are My friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. This I command you, that you love one another. John 15:14-17.
People often quote His promises and then criticize that they do not have them but they do not understand how I am authorized to work in people’s lives. There is only one way I can respond to you to fulfill all My promises and that is by your entering Covenant with Me and leaving behind your covenant with the devil that Adam made and you inherited as his corrupted seed. And you only enter into covenant with Me now through making covenant with Jesus so that you can be released from your sins by His blood, born again by the incorruptible seed of My Word, cleansed by My Word, and filled with My Spirit. The Spirit, the water, and the blood—these three testify together to eternal life which you have in Jesus.
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him! Matthew 7:7-11.
This is addressed to people who are in Covenant with Me. They have become family, called by My Name, My sons and daughters and I am authorized to care for them and answer their requests. Remember? In Covenant, each one has the right and privilege to call on the other with confidence that their request will be met to the extent of the full power, possessions, and life of the other.
The Jewish people had covenant with Me by faith, the Covenant I made with Abraham by My spoken Word, and by the written Word, that is, the covenant with Moses of My written Word which is also called the “Law.” In Hebrew the word you translate “Law” is the word “Torah,” which means instruction that, like a polished arrow sent out by a skillful archer, hits the mark every time making your way successful and prosperous. Joshua 1:8.
But Jesus brings a New Covenant containing all the promises of the Old Covenants, but established on new and even better promises. And what is that? The Word made flesh and dwelling among you. And now I speak to you directly through My Son. The Word among you, with you, and IN you. No longer from the outside in but from the inside out.
Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the Word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures. James 1:17-18.
This too is Covenant, for you cannot claim Me as your “Father,” “Abba,” unless you are in covenant with Me.
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ. Romans 8:14-17.
Do you see the sequence of the Old Covenants and the New Covenant now? The Covenant with Abraham was a Covenant of righteousness by faith in My spoken Word that began a family, a household of faith. It was the same with Isaac and then with Jacob and his son, Joseph. But as the descendants of Abraham grew more and more numerous and less and less knowledgeable of My Word the farther they wandered from Me. They needed more and that was the Covenant with Moses and the descendants of Abraham I redeemed out of the slavery of Egypt.
And this Covenant was established upon My written Word for a great nation of over two million people who coming out of slavery needed direction to know Me and My ways and to establish laws of government, family, and all the details of how to prosper and have good success in life, which grew into the amazing scrolls of the Old Testament full of the Spirit inspired Word covering every aspect of life and godliness. It was the Covenant of the written Word and they became the scribes and keepers of My Words. Living Words written on scrolls so that all who read them, had faith, and did them were My people.
I am calling all people to Me by My Word, but few are chosen and appointed to bear fruit that endures. Why? Because I am looking for someone who will agree with My Word and do it. Abraham did just that. Moses did just that. And Jesus did that. And Jesus looked for faith in people. But what is faith? Basically it is agreeing with Me by believing in and doing the Words I say.
So the Abrahamic Covenant was established on the spoken Word. The Mosaic Covenant was established on the written Word. And the New Covenant is established on the Word made flesh—the manifested Word in the Person of Jesus Christ, My Son. In the New Covenant, which is the goal of all prior Covenants, My living Word became flesh and dwelt among you as one like you, teaching, preaching, healing, and dying to save you—the Word experienced. The Word had leapt off the pages of the scroll and led you to a whole new level of relationship with Me.
What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life— and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us— what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete. 1 John 1:1-4.
God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Hebrews 1:1-3.
To be in Covenant you must be in agreement with My Word. You must receive My Word. Why? Jesus explained to the Pharisees, “yet you seek to kill Me, because My Word has no place in you.” John 8:37. The life is in the Word. You cannot be in covenant with Me if My Word has no place in you. For I am My Word.
And how do people know My Word unless they hear about it? Good is announced first by a herald of good news. Promises are made first in words before they become realities. I promised Abraham a son but that son did not come until he had the faith to receive him.
The more you seek Me with your heart, the more I will let Myself be found by you. And the more you value My Word, the more I will reveal and share with you. And I have given gifts to you in the Body of Christ to guide, mentor, and help you grow in your knowledge of Me and of My Word.
He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the believers for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13.
How do you recognize My voice? My voice produces no fear. It instead moves your heart to joy and hope. And hope does not disappoint. Also, I am not unreasonable. I make good sense. I do not ever tell you to make unwise, rushed decisions. I have a reason for what I say and you can ask Me to explain.
My voice is never harsh. My voice brings repentance but never remorse. I always hold out hope of a new beginning and a better tomorrow.
I love you. Love My Word and do it and you will have a better tomorrow. People of Covenant are people of My Word, not just people who give lip service, but who are doers of My Word.
