Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. Colossians 3:16-17.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלוהים) says:
People generally, if they talk about other people, do not say good things about them. It may start out well, but if you do not curtail the conversation about another or others it will go to the negative side.
Most people, including you, have done or said something negative that another can recall or else that someone told them about. And this kind of conversation does not please Me. You may not call it that, but I warn you about being busybodies and I warn you about looking at faults in others before you get rid of your own.
At the same time they also learn to be idle, as they go around from house to house; and not merely idle, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things not proper to mention. 1 Timothy 5:13.
Idle lives and idle conversation go together.
For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies. 2 Thessalonians 3:11.
An undisciplined tongue makes an unfruitful life—a useless, withered up branch, good for nothing but to be thrown in the fire.
And Jesus, who is My Word sent to heal and deliver you from all destruction and pits, gave you very clear instruction on this and the consequences of breaking these spiritual laws.
“Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:1-5.
The Pharisees were very busy telling Jesus about the woman caught in adultery and asking to enforce the law for her death, but Jesus merely told them to look back at themselves first and if they had no sin in their lives, then go ahead and condemn the woman. That was enough to silence them one by one. And you will note the oldest ones put down their stones and left first. Unfortunately, though their whole lives were based on keeping the law and teaching it, the more years they lived, the more sins they realized they had committed.
And yet it should not be like that. The more years you live with My Word the wiser and more careful of speech you should be.
And My apostle Peter identified the meddler or busybody into other people’s matters with a murderer, a thief, and an evildoer.
But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters. 1 Peter 4:15.
Talking about others in a way that portrays them as stupid, foolish, or good-for-nothing is not acceptable to Me, and many of you do it. I made mankind in My image. It is true many of you are acting foolish but judgment belongs to Me. Jesus gave you very strong teaching from Me on this matter:
“You have heard that the ancients were told, ‘You shall not commit murder’ and ‘Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing,’ shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.” Matthew 5:21-22.
And if you are saying you hate another or saying hateful words against them, I tell you I count that as murdering them in your heart.
Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 1 John 3:15.
It is time for you to start evaluating what you are saying. It is truly a matter of death or life. Death and life are in the power of your tongue. YOUR tongue for YOUR life. You will be accountable for every idle word you speak and talking about others when there is no need to do so is idle. Watch your words on this and put a guard on your lips. It is time for you to look out for your own best interests for now and eternity and take control of your tongue. You may say you have tried and just cannot, but I will tell you that you can. How do I know? Just let someone tell you they are recording you when you converse with them or talk with them on the telephone and I know there are a lot of things you will refrain from saying. Well, I know every word you say even before you say it and I am recording it.
There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known. What you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the housetops. Luke 12:2-3.
You may be wondering if you do not talk about other people what you will talk about, but I give you very good guidance on what to say in your conversations with others all through the Bible. Essentially your conversations should be purposeful with others, speaking words that give them grace, seasoned with salt, and edify them to a higher walk of life. You are to be My witnesses. You are not to discuss the immoral and sexually perverted things people do. You may make it clear that I do not approve of such things and that those things are an abomination to Me and My nature, and you may need to reprove the person doing them to save his or her soul, but you are not to sit and expose those who do such things to others. Why does the person you are conversing with need to know those things about another? Why do you even need to be discussing the other person with them? You are just giving them malicious words to carry to another.
Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even reprove them; for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. Ephesians 5:11-13.
Bring all you would say into My light and refer it to Me, do not be telling all your friends or acquaintances about that information, refer it to Me and go about edifying them in what they need for the moment to increase their fruitfulness.
Let no unwholesome (rotten, idle) word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:30-32.
So what can you say:
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. Colossians 3:16-17.
Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father. Ephesians 5:15-20.
On Pentecost Sunday, the Holy Spirit took hold of the tongues of the disciples and touched them with sacred fire from Heaven and what did they speak of? My mighty works and awesome deeds, the wonders I have done for you in Christ Jesus!
And that is what you should do. That is why the generation that grew up after all who had known Joshua died had no clue of My Word and did not know Me. No one told them of My mighty deeds on their behalf and the I am the same yesterday, today and forever.
I set out what to say in Psalm 145 in your conversations with yourself and others. Follow these guidelines and you will have a great reward. You will be using your tongue well and using it for life. This is a psalm of My servant David, the man after My own heart, who used his tongue well.
You begin with opening in praise and blessing, it raises you up to higher realms where you are seated above with Christ at My right hand, where I can bless you and speak to you.
I will extol You, my God, O King, and I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable. Psalm 145:1-3.
Next you begin to address the generations so they will know Me and join with you in the beauty of holiness and praise, taking you all up to higher realms of light and shalom. Do not shortchange the generations so they lose the faith connection for miracles and the joy that is from Me that is your strength and song.
One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts. Psalm 145:4.
But to do that you will need to remember and meditate on My works as well so you never forget that nothing is too wonderful or too hard for Me and lose hope in time of trouble
On the glorious splendor of Your majesty and on Your wonderful works, I will meditate. Psalm 145:5.
Draw in others to speak what they know as you witness with them and to them as well. Set the tone for the conversation, do not bemoan and speak of the faults and ill will of others, raise up the one with whom you are speaking to My goodness to those who call on Me. Begin showing them how to bless so that they open up the power of the blessing into their lives and the lives of the generations.
Men shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts, and I will tell of Your greatness. They shall eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant goodness and will shout joyfully of Your righteousness. Psalm 145:6-7.
Now instead of grumbling and complaining about the younger or older generation, people complain about both, you have them all shouting with joy about the forgiveness of sins in Jesus and how I have made them righteous with My own righteousness. When Peter said that to the crowd at Cornelius’ house they all started shouting, praising, and speaking in tongues as they exalted Me. Acts 10:43-48.
And next, as you continue the journey of Psalm 145 with My servant David who danced in My presence with joy, you learn how to bless.
The LORD is gracious and merciful; slow to anger and great in lovingkindness. The LORD is good to all, and His mercies are over all His works. All Your works shall give thanks to You, O LORD, and Your godly ones shall bless You. Psalm 145:8-10.
Here you remember that I am gracious and merciful, that no matter what is going on in your life, I can make all things work together for your good and that of the others involved. I am good to all and My mercy is there for all who will receive it. Show them that the voice of thanksgiving works wonders! And of what are you to speak? You and others’ failings and faults? No, stop looking at yourself and others in the flesh and bring down the glory that clothed Adam and Eve before they sinned and became naked for the glory had left them. Call in the glory. And how do you call in glory? You speak of it.
They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power; to make known to the sons of men Your mighty acts and the glory of the majesty of Your kingdom. Your kingdom is a kingdom for all generations, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations. Psalm 145:11-13.
And then you reaffirm My forgiveness and grace, My loving and watchful care. I am present as your helper and I sustain your life. You need to know that and the generations need to know that. They have a refuge, they have a provider, they have prosperity, they have shalom. I am kind, I hear you when you call. You just need to take it by calling it in with praise and thanksgiving.
The LORD sustains all who fall and raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to You, and You give them their food in due time. You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. The LORD is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His deeds. The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. Psalm 145:14-18.
And I want all to know that to those who delight in Me, I fulfill for them their hearts’ desires, for I can trust those who revere Me, who know My goodness and are seeking to please Me. I keep all those who love Me, they are safe in My hand and in the strong tower of My Covenant Name. But with the wicked it is not so, and people need to know that too. The wicked have shut their hearts to Me for I am love, and the wicked can find no place to enter in for all that is not love is foreign to Me.
He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry and will save them. The LORD d keeps all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy. Psalm 145:19-20.
And the conclusion of how to control your tongue? You tell your mouth what to do that you may have life and have it abundantly, and when you say the right thing so will others and all will be blessed. Don’t let a gossip, complainer, scoffer, and faultfinder set the tone of the conversation. You take them up a level to a new tone that has a heavenly pitch.
My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD, and all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever. Psalm 145:21.
And now you have blessed yourself, blessed Me, and blessed others and taught the next generation what a good life is all about. And it is not about speaking ill of others and complaining about them. That kind of talking never produces a miracle. It will never bring showers of blessing. And it will make all lose the knowledge of who I am and what I am about.
I love you. Never talk about other people, do not even go there if it is not necessary. Talk about Me and you will be talking about Love, pure, perfect, unadulterated love. And that will take you all to higher realms where there is the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness. The voice of thanksgiving brings wonders. Set the tone for your conversations above and not below.
