Then, after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers. Luke 2:41-47.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
Jesus always did what pleased Me from everlasting to everlasting and He was no different when He emptied Himself of His powers as God and became one just like you in your humanity except He was born from above and had an eternal life in His flesh to give to satisfy divine justice for the eternal life Adam destroyed in himself and all his seed. Born from below you are of Adam’s perishable seed, the seed of a lie (the devil’s word), but born again from above you are of the imperishable seed of the truth (My Word). Jesus was born from above as the first Adam had been, but there was a major difference. The first Adam rejected My Word and sinned. The second Adam kept My Word and never sinned.
When Jesus agreed to descend from His throne in Heaven and become man among you on His mission of salvation, He declared that to do My Will was His delight and My law was written in His heart.
Then I said, “Behold, I come; in the scroll of the book it is written of Me. I delight to do Your will, O My God; Your Law is within My heart.” Psalm 40:7-8.
No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man. As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. John 3:13-15.
And My Will prospered in His hand. Isaiah 53:10.
He never changed His direction from a baby in the womb until His death upon the Cross, nor has He even now as He forever lives making intercession for you to the uttermost, He came to serve Me and you by redeeming you and reconciling us and He never lost sight of that assignment.
“Yet You are He who brought me forth from the womb; You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts. Upon You I was cast from the womb; You have been my God from my mother’s womb.” Psalm 22:9-10.
He accomplished the impossible and made your salvation not only possible but assured to all who would receive Him.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were [i]born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:12-14.
Jesus was busy spreading the good news of the Kingdom even while He was still in the womb.
Now at this time Mary arose and went in a hurry to the hill country, to a city of Judah, 40 and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. And she cried out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And how has it happened to me, that the mother of my Lord would come to me? For behold, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.” Luke 1:39-45.
Jesus was focused on His assignment, He had one life in this world to live, as all of you do, and He wanted to use every minute of it for My glory and your good.
And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him. Hebrews 9:27-28.
And today we are going to look at a conversation Jesus had with his mother Mary and her husband Joseph when He was 12 years old within a conversation He was having with the religious leaders of His day in the temple at the time of the Passover. This is an amazing event in the life of My Son but the prophet Isaiah had foreseen it and forthtold it already.
Righteousness will be the belt about His loins, and faithfulness the belt about His waist and the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little boy will lead them. Isaiah 11:6.
A little boy will lead them. And My prophet Malachi spoke of it as well.
Behold, I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me. And the Lord (Adonai), whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming,” says the LORD of hosts. “But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap. He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the LORD offerings in righteousness. Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the LORD as in the days of old and as in former years. Malachi 3:1-4.
The Messiah, the long awaited One, had shown up at the Temple right at Passover time. The Lamb that I Myself would provide for the burnt offering. Genesis 22:8. They had in their midst the true offering by which to obtain righteousness. And He was listening and asking them questions. The little boy was leading them.
At that very time He [Jesus] rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight. All things have been handed over to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” Luke 10:21-22.
So let us see how this amazing event came about.
Now His parents, Joseph and Mary, went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. And when He became twelve years old, they went up there according to the custom of the Feast; and as they were returning, after spending the full number of days, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. But His parents were unaware of it, but supposed Him to be in the caravan, and went a day’s journey; and they began looking for Him among their relatives and acquaintances. When they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem looking for Him. Then, after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers. Luke 2:41-47.
I have more insight than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged because I have observed Your precepts. Psalm 119:99-100.
Your Teacher will no longer hide Himself, but your eyes will behold your Teacher. Isaiah 30:20.
When Mary and Joseph saw Him, they were astonished; twelve-year-olds were not invited to sit with the teachers, the rabbis, at that time. He was still considered a child. But no child had ever spoken as He did before either. His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You treated us this way? Behold, Your father and I have been anxiously looking for You.” And He said to them, “Why is it that you were looking for Me? Did you not know that I had to be about My Father’s business?” Luke 2:48-49.
He explained that He had to be about My business. Not the world’s business nor the interests of the flesh, but Kingdom business. I sent Him to seek out and save the lost.
Most people, even believers who love Me, are more interested in their business than Mine. They just want to do what they have decided upon with their lives and have Me bless it, but they have never inquired what I have planned for their life that is all prepared in advance so they would walk in it. That was what the parable My Son told of the King who gave a wedding feast for his son was about, the invited guests were too busy with their projects to even bother coming to the feast though everything was prepared and set out for them to enjoy.
For I have no one else of kindred spirit who will genuinely be concerned for your welfare. For they all seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:20-21.
Jesus was a wonderful teacher, if you notice, he was among those who were thinking they were far beyond Him in their abilities to use My Word skillfully, He did not preach or give a teaching lecture, but sat in the midst of them like a humble student, listening to them, He let them talk first, and then when it was His turn He questioned them and all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers.
Behold, God is exalted in His power; who is a teacher like Him? Job 36:22.
But do not be called Teacher; for One is your Teacher, the Messiah, and you are all brothers. Matthew 23:8.
Jesus kept all My commandments, so since His parents wanted to depart, He obeyed and went down with them to Nazareth, and He continued in subjection to them. He honored and obeyed His parents though He was high above them in who He was and I was His Father.
Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you on the land which the LORD your God gives you. Deuteronomy 5:16.
Mary, His mother, treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and age, and in favor with Me and men. Luke 2:51-52.
Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. He will eat curds and honey that He may know to refuse evil and choose good. Isaiah 7:14-15.
I love you. You must become as little children to enter he Kingdom and even then you have a master teacher who is the author and finisher of your fath. Jesus. Just follow Him.
Like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the Word, so that by you may grow thereby. 1 Peter 2:2.
