You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Acts 10:38.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
Jesus is the anointed and appointed one and as I sent Him so He has sent you.
So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” John 20:21-22.
Who anointed Jesus? You should know. He told you.
“The Spirit of the Lord LORD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; recovery of sight for the blind, to proclaim the favorable year of the LORD. Isaiah 61:1-2; Luke 4:18-19.
Yes, I anointed Him. And how did I anoint Him? With the Holy Spirit and power.
You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Acts 10:38.
Jesus told you the Spirit was upon Him because I had anointed Him. And Peter, by revelation of the Holy Spirit, told you I anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power. I anointed Him and thus empowered and appointed Him to go about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, which He described as proclaiming the good news of Salvation and of the Kingdom, proclaiming liberty to captives, setting prisoners free, healing those oppressed by the devil, giving sight to the blind, mending broken hearts, and proclaiming the jubilee as continuous. He came to undo the works of the devil as if sin had never been.
But let Me go on. I anointed Him with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit manifested as a dove and came down upon Him and remained at His baptism at the Jordan. So I anointed Him with the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is a Person, the third Person of the Godhead, the Three in One. We anointed Jesus as Messiah together and what oil did we anoint Him with? You know it was power! The anointing lifts the burden and destroys the yoke of slavery, making a jubilee year of favor. Remember when Samuel anointed David as king the Holy Spirit rushed upon him as Samuel poured on the anointing oil.
The anointing on Jesus with which the Holy Spirit anointed Him is clearly set out in My Word for you.
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of joy above Your fellows. Psalm 45:7.
And I verify that was a forthtelling of Jesus in prophetic utterance:
But of the Son He says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom. “You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness above Your companions.” Hebrews 1:8-9.
Yes, My joy is your strength. A joyful heart is good like a medicine. Joy is power.
Then he said to them, “Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our LORD. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10.
You cannot take down a person filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.
At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.” Luke 10:21.
And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Acts 13:52.
Do you remember who anointed Aaron as High Priest and the ceremony by which he was anointed? It is good to look back and see the shadow that stretches forward to its substance.
Moses anointed Aaron, his brother and the man at his right hand as High Priest. And the anointing was on Aaron but also on his garments. And how did I describe the relationship of Moses to Aaron? Read on:
“Is there not your brother Aaron the Levite? I know that he speaks fluently. And moreover, behold, he is coming out to meet you; when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart. You are to speak to him and put the words in his mouth; and I, even I, will be with your mouth and his mouth, and I will teach you what you are to do. Moreover, he shall speak for you to the people; and he will be as a mouth for you and you will be as God to him. You shall take in your hand this staff, with which you shall perform the signs.” Exodus 4:14-17.
I told Moses I would give him the words to say and then he was to give them to Aaron so that he would be like God to Aaron as I was God to Moses. So he was the one to anoint Aaron as I anointed Jesus.
And in the next life lesson we will look at the garments and the anointing as these are key to you in the role as kings and priests. For when you are baptized into Christ you clothed yourself with Him. And the anointing is in the garments.
Come to Me and I will give you Jesus, your Shabbat Shalom. You too are anointed with the oil of joy as POWER. The miracle comes with the rejoicing. 2 Chronicles 20.
As an aside here I would like to talk about increasing the anointing on you and in you :
Have you read Psalm 92? Or better, have you sung it? It is entitled a Song of Shabbat, or of rest. And you will see why when you read all the benefits that come to you if you do what it says in that Psalm. It begins: “It is good to give thanks to the LORD and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your lovingkindness in the morning and Your faithfulness by night, upon the ten-stringed lute and upon the harp, with resounding music upon the lyre. For You, O LORD, have made me glad by what You have done, I will sing for joy at the works of Your hands.” Psalm 92:1-4. And the result? “You have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil.” Psalm 92:10. And there is more yet, you will “flourish like the palm tree, grow like a cedar in Lebanon. You will be planted in the house of the LORD, and will flourish in the courts of our God. You will still yield fruit in old age; be full of sap and very green.” Psalm 92:12-14. And what do I tell you to do then? “Declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” Psalm 92:15.
The first thing you should do when you wake up, if you want a day filled with the anointing of fresh oil giving you the strength of a wild ox, is to give thanks, singing praises to My Name (Healer, Provider, Shepherd, Refuge, Deliverer) and to declare My lovingkindness that fills your day with good things. Get excited, get expectant! I fill your days with good things. And in the night as you go to bed you are to sing of My faithfulness, that brought you through the day bearing fruit and giving you occasions to lift burdens and break yokes by My Spirit, by the anointing. For it is the ANONINTING (the Holy Spirit is the anointing- Jesus told you “the Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, He has ANOINTED Me to bring good news, to set captives free, to give sight to the blind,” and so MUCH MORE) that lifts your burden and destroys the yoke! Isaiah 10:27. My servant Paul counseled you to “be filled with the Holy Spirit by speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father.” Ephesians 5:18-20. And that is what happens in Psalm 92 also, “You have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil.” Psalm 92:10. The anointing! My Spirit on you and in you, and that is POWER. But above all it is the anointing with the oil of joy (the early followers of Jesus, I tell you, could not but be filled with joy and the Holy Spirit, even in the midst of persecutions and trials!). I anointed My Son with the oil of joy above His companions. Psalm 45:7, Hebrews 1:9. My joy is your strength. That is power.
Satan binds up heavy burdens and a tight yoke that he tries to place upon you. And many people accept his burdens and go under his yoke for lack of knowledge. And many are not anointed. They have rejected My Son. Not that I do not want to anoint them, but they limit Me for they fail to understand Scripture and My Power. But many believers are not living their anointing. Many have not so much as heard of the Holy Spirit. And many grieve Him. When you limit My power in your life by testing Me and being unfaithful, ungrateful, sarcastic, and doubtful of My goodness, it grieves Me and the anointing cannot flow freely into your life, you are binding it off, like a constriction on a hose.
But the anointing can lift and break all that and set you free. I anointed My Son to bring you the anointing, the oil poured upon the head of the High Priest goes down His whole body to the ends of His robe. Psalm 133. His anointing is now on you who are clothed in Christ. And it makes you different than other people who have not received Him. When Samuel anointed Saul, he told him that the Spirit of the LORD would come upon him mightily, and he would prophesy with a group of prophets whom he would meet coming down from the high place who would be prophesying with harp, tambourine, flute, and a lyre before them and be changed into another man. Same advice My servant Paul gives each one of you, for now all who believe are anointed with the Holy Spirit, not only on you, but in you as well. And he counsels you to sing praises with other believers and keep the melody going in your own heart. It stirs up the anointing. When the evil spirit would come upon Saul, if David played his psalms for him, it would have to depart and let go.
If you are under a heavy yoke of illness, poverty, depression, or pain, the anointing will destroy that. But how? The anointing will bestow on you a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. Isaiah 61:2-3. Put on the garment of praise and sing! It will break that spirit of despair.
As My anointed and chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as I forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to Me with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks unto Me, your forever Father, through Him. Colossians 3:12-17. Sounds like Psalm 92, two witnesses.
Faith comes by hearing My anointed Word. What did Jesus tell you? “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30. I anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power and He went about doing good and healing all those who were oppressed of the devil. Acts 10:38. And in Him I have anointed you. So each day, as Samuel told Saul, “it shall be when these signs come to you, see to it that you do all that the occasion requires, for God is with you.” 1 Samuel 10:1, 5-7. I will send you people who need to be saved and set free. Do all that the occasion requires, for I am with you. Cast out demons in My Son’s Name, lay your hands on the sick and they will recover, put on the garment of praise and give everyone beauty for their ashes by the good news of the forgiveness of sins, the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness in My Son. Share the anointing. It flows freely, like living waters, like fresh oil. Have you never read the prophecy of Zechariah? “Then the angel who was speaking with me returned and roused me, as a man who is awakened from his sleep. He said to me, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see, and behold, a lampstand all of gold with its bowl on the top of it, and its seven lamps on it with seven spouts belonging to each of the lamps which are on the top of it; also two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl and the other on its left side.” Then I said to the angel who was speaking with me saying, “What are these, my lord?” So the angel who was speaking with me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.” Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring forth the top stone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!” Zechariah 4:1-7.
I love you. Let Me anoint your head with the finest oil until your cup overflows.
