But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. John 16:13.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
From the beginning I created, arranged, and prepared everything in the heavens and on earth to provide for you. I filled heaven and earth with good things for you to richly enjoy. I planned good lives filled with good days and good works in a family union filled with communion among all the members with each unique but all complete in Me.
I know My plans and purposes, My thoughts towards you and about you, and they are for shalom, that is, wholeness in every area, arena, and part of your life so that you reign with Me in life in the beauty of holiness and fulfilled hopes and dreams of great and excellent works of glorious splendor.
But let us go back to the beginning to see the way things work to take you to the goal.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2.
I tell you that My Spirit was present hovering (rachaph ( רָחַף): to hover, to brood, to flutter) over the face of the waters waiting for My Word to perform it. Every new work I do—whether in individual regeneration (John 3:5–8) or corporate revival—begins with the quiet, sovereign activity of the Spirit.
You send forth Your Spirit, they are created and You renew the face of the earth. Psalm 104:30.
Jesus ministry on earth among you began with the Spirit hovering over and remaining with Him that day at the Jordan River when He was baptized.
John testified saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him. I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’ I myself have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God.” John 1:32-34.
And this was foretold from long ago:
Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and strength, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. And He will delight in the fear of the LORD. Isaiah 1:1-2.
Just as I have many names that tell you who I am to you and Jesus does too, so also the Holy Spirit. You see that He is the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, counsel and strength, knowledge and fear of Me, and His delight is to please Me. And He will birth all this in you as He broods and hovers over you.
Then Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this, in whom is a divine spirit?” So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has informed you of all this, there is no one so wise and understanding as you are. You shall be over my house, and according to your command all my people shall do homage; only in the throne I will be greater than you.” Genesis 40:38-40.
Even those who did not know Me, such as Pharaoh, saw the difference having My Spirit makes in your life.
Even when Jesus first was clothed in flesh in Mary’s womb it began with the hovering of the Spirit over her until she spoke in faith her agreement and openness to receive the implanted Word that would save the world.
The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:35.
The Holy Spirit leads you, guides you and fills your days with good things. Divine providence is based upon My looking ahead and having everything in place for you in advance, just waiting for your faith to show up. Like the ram in the thicket was there just when Abraham needed it.
Divine providence will lead you along the pathway of good deeds I prepared for you in Christ.
The privilege of having the guidance and provision of My Spirit comes to those who are seeking it. I tell you to pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. I give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Me.
Today I would like to talk with you about receiving divine guidance. This is very important for your life. If you want to live a wise and fruitful life you need My guidance. For there is a way that seems right to a man that ends in death, but I will guide you in the road that leads to life.
The world will guide you in wrong paths but I will guide you in right paths for My Names’ sake. My ways are grace and truth.
To receive and follow divine guidance you need to know what it is and how it comes.
First, always look to My Word for guidance. It gives light and understanding. And My Word is available to all of you as it is written in the Bible. This is the most important book in the world. It is your instruction manual for life. You really need to have one and refer to it every day. Would you consider taking an important class without a text book to help you navigate through the course? Or take a journey with no map? Or try to assemble a home appliance or computer with no instructions? It is foolish to try to live life with no instruction manual when a comprehensive one is available that is written by the One who created everything and knows how everything works at its optimum level. It is like loading your computer with high tech expensive software and then never reading the instructions so that you only use it as a word processor and just figure out other functions by trial and error. It will never function for you at full capacity.
You will generally find the guidance you need at the time you are seeking direction right in My written Word. My Holy Spirit will guide you to all truth and give you the light of revelation. There are many very important principles and ways to operate with Me and your fellow man in My Word and if you follow them you will have success.
So do not say you do not receive divine guidance. You have a whole Book of guidance available to you with instructions for every area of your life. Take advantage of it.
After you begin putting what you read in My Word into practice, you are ready for further enlightenment, but this will only come through time spent with Me in prayer. You will never get to a mature level of guidance from Me if you never spend time with Me in prayer. And I mean quality time when you actually focus on Me and fellowship with Me. When you ask Me questions and receive My answers and meditate on My Word. Your prayer time should be when you are not doing other things at the same time, such as looking at your emails, listening to the news, or texting your friends on your cell phone.
Once you are reading and doing My Word and spending quality time with Me each day in prayer, you will get used to being connected with Me all during your day and night, even among other activities such as work, school, shopping, and conversing with others, you will have an inner eye on Me and be open to hearing what I am communicating to you. This brings you to another level of instruction. When I see your heart is towards Me and My Kingdom I give you bigger assignments. The one that is trustworthy and faithful in little things, I entrust with greater.
As you grow up spiritually by reading, speaking, doing, and praying My Word then you are ready and able to be led by My Holy Spirit. He leads you by witnessing with your spirit. He does this by directing your attention to things you should do, places you should go, or people who have something to impart to you or that you have something to impart to them. He speaks, witnesses, in your spirit and then your spirit speaks to your soul and your mind will process it and convey it in a way you can understand.
And if you desire and seek them, you will also begin to receive the gifts of the Spirit to enlighten you in the way you should go, a word of wisdom, a word of knowledge, a prophecy, or a discernment of spirit. You will begin to pray in tongues, which will edify and build up your spirit and open you to more divine communication and guidance. You will become sensitive to My Holy Spirit in you and know when He is telling you to do something or warning you to avoid something. And this is so important to live a protected and prosperous life.
It is at this point that you begin to truly hear My Voice and know My ways so that you are open to receiving your mission and your message. You are open to creative ideas and new inventions. You are open to stepping out in big projects for the Kingdom. You are ready to be like faithful Abraham so that what you do will bless every nation. You are ready to bear fruit that will remain. You become fruitful to Me and to others. You are no longer only living for yourself and for your bodily lusts but for the Kingdom. And this is when your life leaves the mediocre and gets exciting. Instead of just reading the news, you begin making the news.
And remember it is the humble that I guide and I teach My ways to them. Psalm 25:9. I resist the proud. James 4:6.
I want to tell you the secret though to receiving divine guidance. You must seek it, desire it, and value it or you will not receive it. My Word very clearly tells you that I draw close to those who draw close to Me, I answer those who call on Me, I give the Holy Spirit to those who ask for Him, My Spirit gives spiritual gifts as He wills to those who pursue and seek them, I reveal Myself to those who seek Me with all their hearts, I give wisdom to those who ask for it without doubting that I will give it to them, I fellowship with those who open their hearts to Me and invite Me in to dine with them, and I reward those who diligently seek Me.
When you seek Me with all your heart you will find Me with you. You will not learn My ways and hear My voice if you do not seek them. I honor those who honor Me, but those who despise Me are lightly esteemed. Pearls are not cast before swine, they do not value them. I do not take the children’s bread and give it to dogs. I think you understand what I am saying.
Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you, for the one who asks receives, the one that seeks finds, and that one who knocks has the door opened to him.
My servant David sought Me with all his heart. He was like a deer panting for running water in his search for Me. Just read Psalm 119 and you will see how he valued and sought My Word and My counsel. It was his consuming desire and delight. He wrote:
Your statutes are wonderful; therefore I obey them. The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. I open my mouth and pant, longing for your commands. Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name. Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.
Do you long for My counsel and guidance? Do you delight in fellowship with Me? Seek Me, draw close to Me, ask Me questions, and learn to hear My Voice and you will begin to see why David was so excited about Me and My Word. Just look at his wonderful life of triumph and adventure and you will begin to see the possibilities. He was not from a royal or illustrious family, he never was well educated in the worldly sense, he was the youngest in his family and was not valued by his brothers or father, he shepherded his father’s small flock, he was never trained as a soldier to do battle and in government to run a kingdom, and yet he became the greatest and most powerful king that Israel and Judah ever had and he was a great commander of the army of Israel, and a master of battle strategy, never losing a battle. And where did it all begin? It begun as he watched his father’s “few” sheep on the hillsides of Bethlehem as he meditated on My Word and composed songs to Me. He honored Me, he sought Me, he trusted Me, and he loved Me more than anything else. And that was how he received divine guidance that he later said made him have more wisdom than all his elders and teachers. Psalm 119:97-100. He never went into battle without consulting Me first for the battle plan. Neither should you. 2 Samuel 5:18-25.
I love you. When you seek Me with all your heart, you shall find Me with you to guide you in the way you should go and to give you the love you so long for. My loving eyes are on YOU. Look up and smile, your face will never be ashamed. You will be radiant.
