For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted. Hebrews 2:18.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
When you face temptation you are not alone. Jesus was tempted in every way you yet are but stayed without sin. He resisted temptation so tenaciously that it caused Him to sweat blood in the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane.
And He came out and proceeded as was His custom to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him. When He arrived at the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and began to pray, saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.” Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him. And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground. When He rose from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow, and said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not enter into temptation.” Luke 22:39-46.
This was the hardest hour of His life in the flesh. He who knew no sin became sin for you. It was contrary to His Will which abhorred sin and the horrible separation it would put between Us for He was One with Me and He could not be as sin. He resisted the temptation to not go forward and overcame it all for the joy that lay before Him of saving you and pleasing Me.
But the LORD was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief; if He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand. Isaiah 53:10.
When Jesus asked the cup to pass by without His drinking it, what cup was He talking about?
Thus says your Lord, the LORD, even your God who contends for His people, “Behold, I have taken out of your hand the cup of reeling, the chalice of My anger; you will never drink it again.” Isaiah 51:22.
The cup you deserved I took away from you, My Covenant people, the cup of My wrath and He drank it for you. For you who are in Him, He has saved you from the wrath to come. All the wrath fell on Him. He paid your judgment and satisfied your sentence that was on all Adam’s descendants until paid. But He was tempted not to go forward but to return to Me. But He denied Himself that so not His Will but Mine could be done. And once He had resisted, His face was set like flint and no abuse they inflicted upon Him made Him flinch from His decision to go forward and finish the work I sent Him to do, which was undo the works of the devil and reconcile you to Me.
But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; but the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him. Isaiah 53:5-6.
I gave My back to those who strike Me, and My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting. For the Lord LORD helps Me, therefore, I am not disgraced; therefore, I have set My face like flint, and I know that I will not be ashamed. Isaiah 50:6-7.
But it caused such an agony within Him that to overcome it cost so much effort that He sweat blood. I sent and angel to strengthen Him and I will do the same for you when you pray in the midst of a temptation but, better yet, I have given you Jesus as your great High Priest to help you in your weakness for He understands exactly what you need to get past the temptation to the finish line.
“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.
You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4.
And He did not leave you orphans. He is present as your great High Priest to help you overcome any temptation, test, or trial.
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16.
Jesus is with you always and He is well able to help those who are tempted. He will Himself strengthen you. He can help you to resist temptation. My life is in you, that is grace, and you have that in Jesus. He is the vine and you are the branches and His overcoming life is flowing into you. The devil will bring temptations, trials, and tribulations but take courage Jesus has overcome the world and in Him so have you. He did all He did on earth for you and in your place Now you can do the works He did and greater and one of those works was to never give in to temptation but to stay free of sin and always in the very center of My Will. I sent My Word to heal you and deliver you from all destruction.
In My Word I clearly tell you what is good and what is bad. The Light is in My Word. And I have not changed. My Word is established forever in Heaven. Do not let the world, the flesh, or the devil try to confuse you by saying the Old Testament is no longer applicable and sin is fine under grace. No, this is not so. The ten commandments are all still alive and correct. Nothing in the Old can just be thrown out with no substitute. Never call bad good or good bad. This will help you with temptations. If I have told you it is wrong, stick with that. Eve did not and opened debate about it and fell to the devil’s lies about right and wrong.
No matter what comes up, your first question should be what does My Word say and go with that. Jesus died to give you a new heart and a living spirit so that you no longer live from the outside in but from the inside out. It is time to stop yielding to the flesh and doing the deeds of the flesh but instead yield to the spirit, to your inner man. Feed your spirit with My Word and prayer and you will be strong in the inner man and able to control your tongue and keep your flesh in check.
Jesus will help you and so will the Holy Spirit whom He has poured into your spirit from My throne of grace. Once you make up your mind not to yield to temptation I can help you to avoid it and not just avoid it but master it. And that is a work of Jesus you can do with Him. But help Him out and stay away from what tempts you. He told you what to do for timely help before you fall:
And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour? Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:39-41.
It is wise to pray to avoid temptation before it starts.
I love you. Know this, I am present as your helper, and all My promises to you are “yes” in Jesus. And the Holy Spirit testifies to that and witnesses with your spirit that you are My beloved children free from sin before Me.
