Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2 Corinthians 3:17.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
Jesus proclaimed the prophecy that He fulfilled that day in the hearing of the people of Nazareth as He read from the scroll of the prophet Isaiah in their synagogue, “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favorable year of the LORD.” Luke 4:18-19.
He was the anointed One that had come to set you free. Free from poverty, free from captivity, free from blindness, free from oppression, and free from all debts owed and the restoration of property lost. He was anointed to bring jubilee in every area of your life.
Behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:20-21.
But of first importance, He came to release you from your sins by His blood. And whom the Son sets free is free indeed.
Grace and truth came to you in Jesus. Grace is My divine life poured into your heart making you a partaker of the divine nature and giving you wisdom, strength, skill, love, and fruitful lives. Grace produces the fruit of the Spirit in you and gives you the grace endowments, the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is by the Holy Spirit in you and on you that you receive grace for it is by the Spirit that I pour My love and life into your heart, like a vine to the branch.
But what is the Spirit doing? Guiding you to all truth. In His conversations about the Holy Spirit with His disciples, My Son revealed to you many wonderful mysteries about the Holy Spirit. He revealed Him as he guide to all truth:
“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you. John 16:12-15.
My Word is truth and it consecrates, cleanses and sanctifies you. My Word gives you life, eternal life, but above all My Word sets you free from everything that would rob you of your purpose and your destiny, of all that would destroy you.
Jesus said, “If you continue (remain, abide, hold to) My Words, you are truly My disciples, and then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32.
I sent My Word to heal you and deliver you from ALL your destructions. Psalm 107:20. And My Word is Spirit breathed.
But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. 2 Peter 1:20-21.
All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
Jesus and the Holy Spirit work closely together as One in ministering to you. The Holy Spirit baptizes you into Jesus and seals you in Him and Jesus baptizes you in the Holy Spirit and pours Him from My throne into you who are born again believers.
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” John 3:5.
John answered and said to them all, “As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Luke 3:16.
Gathering them together, Jesus commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Acts 1:4-5.
And in His conversations, Jesus spoke of His blood as real drink and He also told you that for you who are thirsty for life eternal He would give you to drink of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives you living water flowing from My throne of grace that fills up the wellspring in your spirit with a fountain leaping up to eternal life and overflowing out of your spirit as rivers of living water to give drink to a thirsty world and cover the earth with the knowledge of My glory as the waters cover the sea.
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” She said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water? You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself and his sons and his cattle?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” John 4:10-14.
Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:37-39.
But in His conversations with the disciples He told you much more about this wonderful gift of the great Paraclete, who would be in you and with you always.
First of all, He is a gift.
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” John 4:4.
A gift freely given to those who are members of the Body of Christ, the Church.
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. John 14:15-17.
Jesus is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.” Acts 5:31-32.
Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. It was one of the first gifts Jesus gave His disciples when I raised Him from the dead:
He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord. So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” John 20:20-22.
And Peter remembered the words Jesus had told them, “What you have freely received so freely give,” and on the day of Pentecost he was eager to do so.
Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38.
And what does this wonderful gift to for you?
He teaches you all things and bring My Word to your remembrance just when you need it.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. John 14:26.
He is there for you through everything and anything. And when you have Him you have insider information. He knows My deepest thoughts and proceeds from within Me.
“When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me, and you will testify also, because you have been with Me from the beginning. John 15:26-27.
And He shares with you what is Mine and tells you of the things to come. You can always know what to do.
John 16:13-15.
The night of the Last Supper, Jesus told the disciples He would not be with them in the flesh much longer and they were devastated and could not imagine life without their teacher, companion, friend, and Lord. But He comforted them that He would not leave them orphans but would be very much with them because He was sending them another One to be by their side, and not only by their side, but in them and with them every moment of the day and night. And He would be the Spirit of truth that would be that living fountain of supply, life, wisdom, counsel, and comfort, giving them a joy no one could take from them. And best of all, He would link them with Me and Jesus so that we could communicate with them all the time and take them to ever higher levels of revelation and power.
“But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.” John 16:5-11
Whether things of Heaven or things of earth, He will guide you to all truth and keep you informed and prepared for the things to come. He will let you see things others cannot and discern spirits to know whom to trust and whom not to trust. He will give you skill, speaking ability, and teach you to profit and the way you should go. And He will do it all by My Word, both written and spoken by Me in your heart. He will witness with your spirit and help you to pray when you do not know what to say for the result that you want.
I so love you I have entrusted you with the greatest treasures of all and they are One but two very distinct persons and aspects of the Godhead—My Son and My Spirit. And in and with them I have drawn you back into Myself and joined you with Me forever in My everlasting Covenant of Love. And that was what they proceeded forth from My bosom to accomplish and they have brought you safely back home. Like the prodigal son, but ever so much better, I have espoused you to Me forever. I will never leave you or forsake you, I cannot, I have sealed you in My Son by the Holy Spirit as a pledge of eternal life and a glorified body in the full redemption of your spirit, soul, and body. Safe with Me forever you’ll be. Rejoice with Me, I have set you free.
The cords of death encompassed me, and the torrents of ungodliness terrified me. The cords of hell surrounded me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God for help; He heard my voice out of His temple, and my cry for help before Him came into His ears. . . He sent from on high, He took me; He drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my stay. He brought me forth also into a broad place; He rescued me, because He delighted in me. Psalm 18:4-6;16-19.
