Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” John 19:30.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
As we continue with the conversations of Jesus on the Cross, you will note that His first words and His last words were communications made to Me and of His seven conversations on the Cross, the majority, that is five of them, were addressed to Me, and only two to others. And of those two, one was a direction that honored His earthly mother by providing for her comfort and care, and the other was to save and comfort a repentant sinner. A heart contrite and humble I will not spurn.
Learn from My Son, in any situation you should be talking with Me more than others, especially your first and last words, and you should only be speaking with others to edify, exhort, and encourage (“Comfort, speak comfort to My people.”) them. In other words, you must speak prophecy and nothing else.
Let no corrupt word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Ephesians 4:29-31.
That was all Jesus spoke, otherwise He remained silent, especially in the face of taunting, insults, and malicious speech.
For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously. 1 Peter 2:21-23.
You have a high calling for as He is, so are you in this world, walk in a manner worthy of who I have made you in Christ for you are a new creation in Him.
To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit; not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:8-9.
What was Jesus doing in the long periods when He was silent on the Cross? My prophet Isaiah tells you by inspiration of My Spirit:
Because He poured out Himself to death, and was numbered with the transgressors; yet He Himself bore the sin of many, and interceded for the transgressors. Isaiah 53:12.
Yes, He had every one of you in His heart, just like the breastplate of the High Priest which had the precious stones with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel engraved upon them, so that he kept them upon his heart. He knows every one of His sheep by name, and He interceded for every one of you by name as He hung there upon the Cross. You were on His mind. He knew every one of you.
To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. John 10:3-4.
And that was the joy that lay before Him that gave Him the strength to stay there on that Cross till all was finished and your judgment was paid. When He had named every one of you and offered His life for you, the work was done
And that is His Word to Me we are looking at today, “It is finished.”
The night before, at the Passover seder, Jesus had already looked ahead to this moment in time:
I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do. Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. John 17:4-5.
He had finished His sojourn on the earth as one like you. His earthly pilgrimage was done, just as yours will be when you pass over the light line. Blessed is the one who has accomplished the work which I have given them to do when he or she passes from this life to the life that never ends.
What you have done with your sojourn on the earth will be final when you pass over and it will be too late to recover the wasted years, but if you are interested you can redeem the time now while you are still upon the earth. Moses wasted forty years but he redeemed every one of them three times over in the forty years he followed Me and carried out My commands as My friend.
The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. Exodus 33:1.
Moses maintained an intimate relationship with Me, he will forever be known as My friend. The same was true of Abraham. And the same can be true of you. If you really want to know how to please Me, I can answer you in one word: Fellowship. Moses had it with Me while two million people that I had led out of Egypt that I tried to introduce Myself to and let them hear My voice on Mt. Sinai, for the desire of My heart is that all would know Me from the least to the greatest, refused to converse with Me but preferred to go build a golden calf as an idol to worship, to sin against My commandments, and to grumble, complain, and accuse Me of evil intent in bringing them out of the slavery of Egypt. And I brought them out rich and strong, which they had not been before the Passover lamb was sacrificed.
Jesus calls you friends when you listen to Him and understand what I am about so that you become true disciples. And when you are attached to Him by remaining in His Word and letting His Word remain in you, you cannot help but bear good fruit that endures unto life eternal.
It all has to do with who you attach to and listen to, in whom you delight to be with.
When Jesus said, “It is finished,” He had opened the door for all people to return to Me with their judgment paid and their sins gone. He still, however, had to satisfy the sentence against you by going down to the dust of death into Hades, that place of torment, but He did that for you as well, but I raised Him from the pit once your sentence had been fully satisfied. By His death and resurrection you have been justified, acquitted, redeemed, and made whole. SHALOM.
And Jesus will forever keep your glorified humanity united to divinity so you can partake of My life, My very nature, in you through your attachment to Jesus and the indwelling promise of My Holy Spirit.
Jesus spoke all His final words very close to the three o’clock hour, the time of the sacrifice of the evening burnt offering of the unblemished lamb, when He had completed the sacrifice of His eternal life in the flesh in payment for your sins (He cancelled your debt by nailing it to the Cross), and “it is finished,” is a very important Word for all of you for it has to do with your salvation and your inclusion in the Covenant with Me and with Him.
Your salvation is complete, perfect, and finished by My Son, you only need to work out what is in you. Do not say you don’t have forgiveness, love, joy, healing, wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. My Son does not lie, and He finished the work I gave Him to do. It is time you drew out what is already in you and got busy finishing your assignment. And as I sent Him to go about doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil, so He sends you! Don’t beg Me for things that you have, use them.
Please understand the enormity of the debt Jesus paid for you. He paid the judgment for the eternal life you lost by sin. An eternal life for an eternal life was the only way to pay what you owed under the Law. And no one had an eternal life to give. Adam was the father of you all and he had corrupted the seed to being perishable by submitting to the lies of the devil instead of the truth. Lies are not eternal, they are corrupt and perishable. Only truth, the Word of truth, can birth you to eternal life. But Jesus came conceived and born of My Word without the seed of Adam in Him, and He came to pay for the eternal life you lost with His own eternal life in the flesh. And He did. He paid in full. And when a debt is paid in full it is finished, no further payment is needed.
And their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin. Hebrews 10:17-18.
All is finished. Paid in full. We are reconciled. And I have appointed you ambassadors of reconciliation. What you have freely received as a gift, give as a gift.
Glorify Me in your body by finishing the work I have given you to do. You will enjoy it. Moses loved his life of power with Me. Spending time with Me made him radiant.
Let Me shine on you!
But before we close this Life Lesson there is one more very important aspect, if not the most important aspect, to “It is finished,” and that has to do with the prophecy I spoke at the time that Adam rejected My Word, and I spoke it to that ancient serpent, the devil, and on the Cross it came to pass.
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall crush you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel.” Genesis 3:15.
As Mary, the woman prophesied, stood on Golgotha, which means the place of the Skull, at the foot of the Cross below the imperishable seed of My Word made flesh in her womb, she watched My Word fulfilled. Satan’s authority over mankind had been broken, crush and annihilated. It was finished. The devil is a defeated foe, defeated by the truth that sets you free. Keep his crushed head under your feet by always answering with the truth to any lies he shoots at you. Keep up your shield of faith and wield the Sword of the Spirit to enforce your victory in Christ Jesus. He has been disarmed.
When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Colossians 2:13-15.
I love you. You are now on the list of guests at the marriage feast of the Lamb. Do you still not understand who you have in Me? Who you have in Jesus? You have eternal life with Me, who is Love and Light in a Kingdom beyond all you can ask or imagine. Every good thing given and every perfect gift. Enjoy them and draw them out for they are deposited in you even now, in your heavenly account where you are seated with and in Christ at My right hand where there are pleasures forever. It is finished, complete, and sealed in the Spirit with you.
For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all the saints, do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Ephesians 1:15-23.
