And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High. He blessed him and said, “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” He gave him a tenth of all. Genesis 14:18-20.

Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:

The tithe is a mystery to many and most people do not pay much attention to it. They say it is of the Old Covenant and not necessary for those under “grace.” Or else people think that I understand that they need all their money and do not have enough to tithe. Or some have too much money so it would make their tithe quite large and they cannot face “giving up” that much for what they decide is useless in their life and a waste of hard earned money.

But the tithe is not Old Covenant if they mean at the time of Moses. I introduced the tithe by heavenly visitation. Abraham tithed to Melchizedek and that is the first time I mention the tithe in the Bible and first mention is important for it sets the stage for all that follows.

I want you to notice also of what preceded the tithe and what followed the tithe.

First, Mechizedek, king of peace, brought out bread and wine as My priest under My title of God Most High, which signifies I am the creator and source of all. And bread and wine are the Covenant meal. The tithe is always associated with Covenant for it is a sharing between Covenant parties that opens up the windows of Heaven to pour out a blessing you cannot contain. And that is what happened next, Melchizedek blessed Abraham as heir of the world and possessor of Heaven and earth with Me. An heir to all that is Mine, a  joint heir with Christ.

For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith. Romans 4:13.

And the tithe brought the blessing of deliverance of your enemies into your hands. And that promise is witnessed to a second time by My prophet Malachi:

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows (floodgates) of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes,” says the LORD of hosts. “All the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land,” says the LORD of hosts. Malachi 3:8-12.

In every other Scripture about the devourer, that is, the devil who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, I command you to rebuke and resist the devil and I do not do it for you. But for the tither I will do it for you. Covenant.

And the tithe is associated with the priesthood, you bring your tithe to the priest for him to set it before Me.

Then it shall be, when you enter the land which the LORD your God gives you as an inheritance, and you possess it and live in it, that you shall take some of the first of all the produce of the ground which you bring in from your land that the LORD your God gives you, and you shall put it in a basket and go to the place where the LORD your God chooses to establish His name. You shall go to the priest who is in office at that time and say to him, ‘I declare this day to the LORD my God that I have entered the land which the Lord swore to our fathers to give us.’ Then the priest shall take the basket from your hand and set it down before the altar of the Lord your God. Deuteronomy 26:1-4.

But who is that priest that you are tithing to? The Holy Spirit and My Son.

Now observe how great this man was to whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth of the choicest spoils. And those indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest’s office have commandment in the Law to collect a tenth from the people, that is, from their brethren, although these are descended from Abraham. But the one whose genealogy is not traced from them collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises. But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater. In this case mortal men receive tithes, but in that case one receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives on. And, so to speak, through Abraham even Levi, who received tithes, paid tithes, for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him. Hebrews 7:4-10.

The Holy Spirit testifies to Jesus. The one who receives your tithes as your great High Priest is Jesus.

And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek, who has become such not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life. For it is attested of Him, “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” Hebrews 7:15-17.

And, as you see, I make some amazing promises of blessing to those who tithe. Why? They honor Me but more than that they understand the payment of the royalty for access to use the genius of one that creates something they want to use legitimately as their own to produce wealth. Like the parable My Son told about the tenant farmers holding a leasehold interest in the vineyard created by the owner of the land obtaining much profit from their use of the land and the harvest of the grapevine, but when the owner sought his share of the harvest of the grapes, they refused to give any of what he had enabled them to have. Like many who ignore the tithe, they used his property and gathered the harvests but refused to share any of their increase with the one who enabled them to profit. In fact they violently opposed any that the owner sent to receive the tithe of the grape harvest and yet it only would have been one grape in every ten.

The tithe opens the riches of My house to you. The tithe shows that I am your God and that you honor Me. It is a spiritual act with a physical offering that represents the fruit of your labor. It comes first off the top and then the rest is blessed.

Honor the LORD from your wealth and from the first of all your produce; So your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10.

The tithe is Mine, the rest then is yours and then it will increase. Seek Me first and all else is added.

“Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you!

This promise is sure. Tithes and offerings give you the joy of living under an open Heaven, and not just a small opening with a trickle of blessings coming to you! No! I open the FLOODGATES of My Kingdom and pour out for YOU a blessing until you cannot contain it but have to share it. It not only makes you a receiver but also a giver. My blessing makes you rich and adds no sorrow with it. It is a joy to give and have more than enough for yourself and others. In fact, as any farmer knows, the more you seed you sow, the more you grow.

The tithe of ten percent off the top of all you acquire is the seed you sow into My house to maintain the work of the ministry and supply for your pastor and church where you are fed the Word of Salvation that you may grow thereby and it will bring back a harvest of blessings. Make sure you are sowing in good ground. Your tithe should be for your church and not for going to restaurants, movie theaters, sport’s events, or buying new electronic devices. You can go to and buy those if you like but not to the expense of My tithe or you are robbing Me.

Do you notice that when I speak of the tithe or riches coming in to you, I speak it as the LORD of hosts, the ruler of the angelic armies? The angels are involved in bringing in your increase and prosperity. They are involved in wealth transfer from the wicked to the righteous. Haggai 2:5-9.

And do not say the tithe is not applicable now under the New Covenant that it was only under the law of the Mosaic Covenant. It was under the Mosaic Covenant but it has been under every Covenant I have made with man, from Adam until now. The tithe was from the beginning. You will notice that even Isaac’s son Jacob did not prosper until he vowed to take Me as his God and that he would show this was so by the tithe. Where do you think he learned that? From his father Isaac whom I prospered even in times of famine. And Isaac learned from his father Abraham, who tithed to My priest, Melchizedek.

Later when I prospered Jacob and made from his descendants My great nation of Israel, I reminded him it all started when he made that vow to Me at Beth-el (meaning, House of God). Do you recall that vow?

So Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on its top. He called the name of that place Beth-el; however, previously the name of the city had been Luz. Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will keep me on this journey that I take, and will give me bread to eat and garments to wear, and I return to my father’s house in safety, then the LORD will be my God. This stone, which I have set up as a pillar, will be God’s house, and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You.” Genesis 28:18-22.

And if you recall, the encounter at Luz, which he renamed Beth-el, which means “House of God,” where the temple was later built, Jacob was fleeing from Esau with only a staff in hand seeking a bride among his mother’s kinfolk as Abraham had done for his father, Issac. As he spent the night there, he had a dream and he saw a ladder joining Heaven and earth and angels were descending to earth and ascending back to Heaven on that ladder. I stood at the top of the ladder and promised to prosper him. And later My Son revealed to His disciple Nathanael that the ladder represented Jesus as the mediator between God and man who opened the way to the Kingdom to you, opened Heaven to you, the Messiah: “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” John 1:52.

And when I taught Jacob how to prosper in the face of being cheated of his wages by his father in law, Laban, I did it by showing him a very creative idea that gave him a supernatural wealth transfer of the strong sheep of Laban’s flock becoming his wages so that he became wealthy in all he put his hand too. It was then, in giving him direction, that I identified Myself to Him as “I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you made a vow to Me.” Genesis 31:13. And he kept that vow and I prospered him and his children and his children’s children. When you tithe you acquire tither’s rights, which benefit not only you but all that is yours, including your children and your household.

The tithe is ten percent of all that you receive as increase into your life. And the free will offering is amounts above that which you give to honor Me in an extra way to show your love, trust, and gratitude for My provision in your life. The tithe opens the windows of Heaven to give you the finances you need and an abundance for every good work. And it brings in My protection of your assets from the devourer, including your life and health, for it is the only time I tell you that I will rebuke the devil for you. This is a promise only for those who tithe. Offerings you sow for a dedicated purpose that you name that is a desire of your heart for a particular harvest.

The tithe you give is now primarily money for that is what you receive from your work and other sources of income, but when society was primarily  agricultural in nature and work, it was the produce of your fields and the increase of your flocks and herds.

Thus all the tithe of the land, of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s; it is holy to the LORD. Leviticus 27:30.

And this will take us back further in the history of the tithe, for it began with Adam and Eve. And they robbed Me of the tithe I had designated as Mine. And the result was the devourer took everything from them, including their dominion authority as his own. Tithing, as all prospering, as to do with walking in the truth.

I love you. Do you tithe? Keep a record of all that comes in and then determine your tithe off the top, and, if you want to increase your harvest, designate offerings above the tithe as I inspire you. Try Me in this and you will be blessed abundantly. The measure you give you shall receive and more besides. I honor those who honor Me. Why? They have hearts open to receive. I love a cheerful giver and a thankful receiver.
