“But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.” Matthew 6:6.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
Today, I want to talk about prayer. Prayer is very important to Me and I take it very seriously. You should too.
I have a lot to say in My Word about prayer. I even tell you to pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17.
Prayer is not complicated, though many have tried to make it so, but it all begins so easily. Call to Me and I will answer you and I will tell you great and mighty things which you could not know. Jeremiah 33:3.
Prayer is fellowship. Prayer is sharing together. Prayer is having fun together. Prayer is always staying in contact with Me down in your inner self.
Prayer is the avenue by which you give Me authority to act in your life and in the world. There is no way I can participate or act in the world without someone authorizing Me to do so. And you do it through prayer.
But you know what prayer is above all to Me? It is our time together when our attention is on nothing else but each other in deeply intimate love. It is a time of union between the two of us.
My Son told His disciples that people who think they are religious, or at least would like others to think so, often only pray so as to be heard and seen. They are not really praying to Me but showing off their “holiness.” Like the Pharisee who came into the temple with the tax collector and prayed “to himself” though he said he was talking to Me. Luke 18:11. Be careful you are not so distracted by your troubles and your agenda that you fellowship with yourself through your prayer time rather than Me. By that I mean you just keep pondering your problems and thinking about your day and what you need to do and not really paying any attention to Me or what I am trying to tell you to do that would solve those problems and make your agenda work much better.
What My Son asked of His disciples was a different kind of prayer from what they were used to seeing the Pharisees do. He told them to pray to Me in our secret place.
Let Me explain. I am in secret, you cannot see Me as you see another person physically before you, but I am there. So, when you pray, go into your inner room, that is deep in your heart, the inner you, your spirit, and close your door, that is close out the distractions that pull you everywhere but to Me, and speak with Me and let Me speak to you. This is our secret place. And I, who see what is done in secret will reward you.
I wait for you to begin our time together. I stand at the door to your heart and knock. If you hear My voice and open the door, then I will enter and dine with you and you with Me. Revelation 3:20. You will sit with Me on My throne. Revelation 3:21. You are seated with Me in heavenly places already. Ephesians 2:6. Take your seat and let us enjoy each other. This is our secret place.
My servant David’s son Solomon wrote about our secret place well in his Song of Songs. In that Song you are the Beloved and I am the Lover. If you read My Words to you in that Song you will find that to Me you are a garden enclosed that I love to visit, that you are hidden in the secret recesses of the cliff where I look to see your lovely face and hear your sweet voice, that you have ravished My heart, and that I find your love more delightful than wine and your fragrance better than all spices.
Then in the Song of Songs you will find that to you I am the garden dweller for whom your heart searches, that I am the keeper of the flocks, that I am the shadow under which you rest, that I am all delight, that My love is more delightful than wine, that My Name spoken is a spreading perfume, and that I am your friend and your lover.
This is how I want our relationship to be. With everyone of you, man and woman, boy and girl, young or old, married or single, working or retired (you never retire from My service), I desire this intimate union of love, deep pure love! Love is as strong as death. Love without limits is My Covenant with you. Enduring forever, holy, faithful and true.
And I have put My Spirit in you and written My law of love in your heart so that you do not need to search for Me in distant places for I am with you right where you are. You see, if you have confessed and received Jesus as Lord you have been born again and are a new creation in Christ and My Holy Spirit lives within your spirit and you have direct access to Me by the Spirit. Yes, when you join yourself with Me, we become one spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:17. I have espoused you to Me forever. Hosea 2:19 (21). So it is so easy for you to communicate with Me, I am as close as your heart. You need only go deep within, to our secret place in your spirit, and you have access to My very Throne and all of Heaven is open before you.
In our secret place, in our time of fellowship, you can give Me authority to change the world. Come boldly then to My Throne and receive grace and help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16. Present the needs of your family and friends, pray for presidents, prime ministers and kings, pray that My Word reaches the lost, and pray that My Will is done on earth as it is in Heaven. There is so much for us to talk about, so much Kingdom business to take care of, and so much revelation that I want to give you.
You know, prayer is the most powerful thing that you do. Let Me give you an example. When a large Assyrian army came against Hezekiah and Jerusalem it looked like all was over for Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem. They were outnumbered by far and the Assyrians had conquered everywhere they had previously attacked. But Hezekiah turned to Me in prayer and entrusted himself and the city to My protection. I heard his cry and answered immediately. I sent an angel into the enemy camp that night and destroyed the invading army that was trying to take the Land I had given to the Israelites. And no enemy army tried to take Jerusalem again during the reign of Hezekiah. He saved the city by one prayer. Prayer was more important and effective than twelve legions of armed warriors.
And prayer is accessible to you night and day. And I never slumber or sleep, so I am always attentive to you. I hear your voice the minute you call, even when it comes silently from your heart.
And the good things you pray for others, even when you are in need of what you ask Me to give or do for them, I give to you also, and many times in a double portion or larger. Remember when Abraham prayed for the healing of Abimelech and his wives so that they could bear children? Sarah had had no child yet and that was what he longed for. But he prayed for another the good thing he desired but did not yet have and very soon after that Sarah had Isaac. And when Job prayed for the prosperity of his friends while he was still completely without prosperity, I answered not only his prayer for his friends, but I gave him double the possessions that he had had before his time of trial and lack.
Be generous in your prayers for others for the measure with which you measure will be measured back to you and more besides.
There is no wasted prayer. I reward you. Even when you pray for peace for the house you enter, if they do not receive it, it returns to you.
Prayer is your watchtower of power to move the world. There is nothing more important that you do and yet when you do it, you will accomplish much more than if you did not take the time to pray. It is good, it is wise, to share your thoughts with Me and let Me share My thoughts with you. You will gain wisdom and all the good that comes with it.
And you will find healing, comfort, love, and peace in My everlasting arms. And grace upon grace.
I love you with an everlasting love and when you love and seek Me, I am able to be strong on your behalf. So come each day to our secret place. Let Me hear your voice, share your heart with Me, for I made the world for you and loved you before you came to be.
