“In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.” John 14:20.
Today your LORD (יהוה) God (אלהים) says:
Today as we continue to consider the Words of Jesus spoken at the Last Supper that put His joy in you and make your joy complete we have arrived at the most astounding and assuring statement in the entire Bible. These Words, if understood, though they contain a mystery far beyond anything you can ask or think, or ever dare to believe on your own initiative, will take your life to a whole new level. These words not only explain your position now but also why you will live eternally with Me in the Kingdom. What are those Words?
“In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.” John 14:20.
To understand Scripture, which is breathed in the inspiration of My Spirit, you must let Scripture define Scripture. What does it mean that Jesus is in Me, you are in Jesus, and Jesus is in you? How does that apply to and change your daily life in the world and in eternity? Walk with Me through My Word and follow each passage that My Spirit opens and unfolds until you have the treasure hidden in the field.
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:27-30.
When you receive Jesus as your Lord, you receive the gift of eternal life and will never perish because I have placed you in His hand and sealed you in Him by the Holy Spirit as a pledge of your possession of redemption of spirit, soul, and body to be fully performed in all its completion on the Last Day of time that leads into the eternal light of a never ending day because time as you know it will be no more.
In the hand of Jesus you receive perfect protection and it is My doing that you are in Him and in His hand you are in Mine. Jesus is in Me, so when you are in Jesus you are in Me with Him and I accept you as sinless within Him.
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places IN CHRIST JESUS, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:4-10.
Jesus is deep in Me, begotten in My bosom of who I am in My very core. Love. And as Love forms the thought it speaks the Word that manifests as a distinct Person but totally filled with My Nature as One God with Me and so also proceeds My Spirit, the breath and thoughts of My being as a distinct divine Person of the One Nature as well. We flow as One but all is from Me and is Me and each is a reality of the whole. The Hebrew word for “word” is debar which not only means a spoken or written word but also a physical thing.
By faith we understand that the world (cosmos) was prepared by the Word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:3.
Everything that exists came about by Words. Words united with faith. Faith gives the substance to My Spirit by which He turns a thought into a physical and spiritual reality.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1.
In Jesus everything is saved, contained and sustained within Me.
For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven. Colossians 13-20.
In His hand you are in My hand. He is heir to all. It has pleased Me to make absolute fullness reside in Him. I in Him, He in you, and you in Him you too are complete and full.
And he said to him, ‘Son, you have always been with me, and all that is mine is yours.” Luke 15:31.
He is in Me, He is in you, and you are in Him. You are with Me always and everything I have is yours. Jesus shared more with you that night of the Last Supper.
“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, although the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me; and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” John 17:22-26.
Jesus is in Me, and you are in Jesus, and Jesus is in you. And He is ever with Me as your great High Priest making intercession for you at the mercy seat where His precious blood speaks more eloquently than Abel’s, saving you to the uttermost because His blood speaks propitiation, atonement, and mercy. And He does not come before Me empty handed but with you in His hand as trophies of My grace and you come bringing Him before Me as your sacrificial offering that makes you holy, blameless, and beyond reproach before Me. In Him you are clothed in the garments of salvation and the robe of righteousness and He comes with you hidden within Him.
I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. Isaiah 61:10.
He is the secret place of the Most High. He is in Me and you are there in Him.
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the trapper and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth is your shield and buckler. Psalm 91:1-4.
Because He is in Me and He is in you and you are in Him you are assured of your salvation and your place in My house, in My family. For Christ in you is your hope, and hope does not disappoint, of GLORY.
The mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man PERFECT IN CHRIST JESUS. To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily. Colossians 1:26-29.
He is the rock I hide you in at My right hand:
Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!” And He said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.” But He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!” Then the LORD said, “Behold, there is a place by Me, and you shall stand there on the rock; and it will come about, while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by.” Exodus 33:18-22.
Let Me address three things here to begin about the Word we are studying today: “In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.” John 14:20.
To what day is He referring to, i.e., in that day? What does it mean to be in Him and Him in you in relation to Him in Me? And what does this truth assure you of forever?
To find out what day He is speaking of look to the preceding sentences, i.e., the context. And this is very important in any Scripture you quote so that you are not twisting the meaning.
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.” John 14:18-20.
The day He is speaking of is His resurrection day and beyond that to Pentecost and beyond that to where you are seated with Him at My right hand. And He cleared that up that very night.
“But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.” John 16:5-7.
“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you. John 16:12-15.
“A little while, and you will no longer see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me.” Some of His disciples then said to one another, “What is this thing He is telling us, ‘A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me’; and, ‘because I go to the Father’?” So they were saying, “What is this that He says, ‘A little while’? We do not know what He is talking about.” Jesus knew that they wished to question Him, and He said to them, “Are you deliberating together about this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you will not see Me, and again a little while, and you will see Me’? Truly, truly, I say to you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but your grief will be turned into joy. Whenever a woman is in labor she has pain, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world. Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.” John 16:16-22.
“In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.” John 16:23-24.
It is that day now, do you know these things He told you so you can have His joy made full in you. Now is the acceptable time. Now is the day of Salvation. The Work has all been done by My Son.
What does it mean to be in Him and Him in you in relation to Him in Me? It means you are with Me always and all I have is yours without measure, as much as your faith can take, hold, and release.
For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure. The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand. 36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” John 3:34-35.
And what does this truth assure you of forever? My abiding presence.
But now take courage, Zerubbabel,’ declares the LORD, ‘take courage also, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all you people of the land take courage,’ declares the LORD, ‘and work; for I am with you,’ declares the LORD of hosts. ‘As for the promise which I made you when you came out of Egypt, MY SPIRIT IS ABIDING IN YOUR MIDST; DO NOT FEAR!’ Haggai 2:4-5.
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. John 15:4-5.
I love you. What does the Word of today mean? You are forgiven, saved, held dear, valued beyond price, and forever with Me as One in Jesus Christ your Savior, Messiah, and Lord. He is My gift to you, all wrapped up in Me and all wrapped up in you.
